She literally went “debate me! Debate me!” Over and over like the grifter she is and when she couldn’t get what she wanted and when “no” wasn’t enough she resorted to retaliatory sex-pestery, posting an image of somebody’s body with intention to shame and embarrass and spawn more waspish tittering from her internet followers.

That’s what galls me so much about this. So many filmmakers over the generations would KILL to have incredible accidents like that happen when they’re already all set up and ready to film. And Nolan just treated it like an annoyance? You were given this incredible opportunity, and you didn’t even bother to capture it?

Look, I get that an artist has a vision, and that a director has to adhere to their own specific vision in a medium with so many moving parts to worry about. But I just can’t believe he didn’t film it, just in case. If it really didn’t work, well, put it in the deleted scenes. Film nerds would love to see it and debate over whether or not it should have been included.

Hell, just imagine the discussion if it had been kept in! You’d have people going “oh my god that’s stupid” being drowned out by cinephiles debating over what Nolan meant by that rainbow, especially within the context of that “pivotal shot.” It could have been an incredible accident!

But no. He just threw it away. Didn’t even capture it for posterity. God.

And this is why I didn’t love those posts about “Tom Holland works with Nolan, immediately realizes how shitty Marvel’s filmmaking is.” I think Holland needs better role models than a guy who’d go “ew, a rainbow.”
