There are many people who don’t share this sentiment, but I have an appreciation for when a fanfic is so separated from canon that it could’ve easily been its own original novel, and yet the author was only ever going to put that much energy into it if their favourite characters got to be there

I think there’s a difference between “the author stripped the media of everything it had to replace it with something easy” and “the author thought up a concept they really really like and are bestowing it upon the character like a medal”

people who write fics. how do you feel about comments on super old ones you wrote like 2+ years ago

I commented on a fic that was 11 years old, and there was already a response by the time I got up the next morning. Comment on the fics, please, comment on them, I promise it'll make the author's day either way

I have stories up on AO3 that are seriously 30 years old. Like I think 2026 might actually be the 30th anniversary of "Absurdly Simple." Should have celebrated it. Anyway. Leave comments!!! On the old stuff!!!!!! It makes us happy that someone is still reading it!!!!!!!!
