what kind of changes, if any will hey's phisical release have?
Hey Physical Release Details:
It will have a color cover with the image at the bottom of this post. I'm not really sure about the back, it might just be black or it might have the greyscale version of the flowers.
I still haven't decided on the font for "Hey." on the front yet. I'm leaning toward AO3 title font at the moment to stay close to home. I'm open to considering other font suggestions in any comments on this post.
The actual book will be black and white with no colored text (😭😭😭).
When I did my "final" reread prior to posting 24, I made some small tweaks to add or adjust dialog tags so that it would be clearer who is speaking in the very small number of cases I found where it relied on the text colors too much. I may end up doing more tweaks like that, but they will be exceedingly minor.
I don't plan to include the afterword. Other than the afterword, every single chapter, canon or non-canon, will be included in the final release.
I will be putting a QR code at the start of each chapter and in each other place I linked a song or playlist.
I'm... still not sure if I want to put the little chapter buy-lines (the lil bits teasing the chapter before each read more line) but I'm leaning strongly towards not, because there were only like four that enhanced the experience going into the chapter in a way that would translate into value for the book.
I'm not planning to include the little before and after notes for each chapter that were on ao3 and in the announcement posts.
Hey! will immediately follow the end chapter. 0, Ghost, and Okay will be placed afterwards that in that order, and there will be a direction to jump to 0 at the end of 19 before continuing to 20.
The text will not be "aligned" (word spacing changed on a per line basis to fit one neat column) because that looks like total trash. It will be presented as you've read it here or AO3. This post here is an example of "ragged text", which is slander because this looks way better than aligned.
I expect the margins to be .75 or .5 inches, leaning toward the latter to keep costs down.
The three pieces of art will be placed on full pages at the end of 7, 9, and 16.
Links to @pupgrrrlriot will be prominently placed as she prefers.
I will be putting QR codes to my LinkTree, AO3, and BlueSky for tenacity in case of The Troubles.
The book will be priced at the absolute dead minimum with $0 royalties going to me. It's not for profit in any way, it's a passion project that I'm publishing with love for the work and for all of you who love it as well. I'll be posting a link to the Draft2Digital cost calculator page showing that the price matches the minimum possible for its page count once it's available. It is unfortunately more expensive than I initially estimated by virtue of having to actually go with real self-publishing instead of handling everything myself, but that does mean that it should always be available on-demand, and not need to be sent out in printing runs.
I do however have a ko-fi set up for anyone that wants to leave a tip as thanks for the story or our writing in general.
Please do not mention the physical release of Hey. in any way on any donation messages - selling a book containing erotica is a violation of PayPal's TOS, as far as I researched, and incest in erotica is an explicit violation of ko-fi's TOS, so any indication that a donation is in relation to a product being sold with that content could cause issues.
