I had a vision for a strange chara-design, I suppose it’s some kind of an angel?

I shall now take this ask as an opportunity to blab about Steve's Mansion raid. Polly witnesses Vinny's death, and the death of pretty much everyone in that Mansion. It all came down to them, Johnny and their leader, Walda.

And because it's fucking COOL, it's on the rooftop. Thunderstorm. The mansion is on fire, this is the last stand. Almost everyone is dead and there are other Mansions but this was POLLY's tribe damnit ROME IS BURNING.

Steve is up top, injured, gotten the best off after Walda actually used the Totems properly (with fellow illagers as sacrifices), just one fang bite and they'll be gone again. Polly, the little sharpshooter they are, takes aim at Steve to help out.

And then they think.

They kill Steve. Then what? They'll just return stronger.

They die to Steve, lay their life for the empire like how the Evokers taught them to. And then what? Vinny died believing this, and it was without fanfare or meaning.

Polly has been at the mercy of not just Steve but a Villager of all people, and both let them live. What are they going to do with this life?

Steve takes the opportunity and kills the Evoker, and Polly flees by leaping off the roof into the water below, leaving Johnny behind as their witness.

Seeing everything just went from bad to worse, Johnny flees too to live to fight another day. He has to reunite with his own first. Polly... is not going to do that.

Nah. Whatever you’ve built, their bases/builds can resemble that, provided it’s in character! But here’s some general things about the way this Steve builds:

Steve has many bases scattered around the World, underground too, the Nether, and eventually The End. They are always building and rebuilding and building-

They move around and travel a lot. Most of their casual builds resemble medieval and rustic houses/buildings, but as they get bolder they modernise their designs, make them more abstract and creative, outright crazy and unconventional sometimes.

They take inspiration from ruins they come across, and put their own spin on it.

Their skill goes from TU7-TU11 tutorial world on the Xbox 360 to the TU69 tutorial world and beyond-

Some of the kind of stuff they build include:

They make personalised houses for animals, or other mobs sometimes. They build laboratories. They build giant monolithic statues of various mobs in the desert for fun.

They rebuild ruins and ancient structures, to try and visualise what they might’ve once looked like when populated. They turn the Mineshafts into their home, and connect them to highways that they build across the world, and then in the Nether to take advantage of the distance trick. Iceboat highways definitely.

They drained an Ocean Monument and turned it into a cow sanctuary in honour of the cows they took down there to milk and circumvent the mining fatigue caused by the Guardians.

And villagers... please listen to THIS and think of them. Just do it. Oh and-

I've been fascinated by Centaur traditional handmade artifacts since Talita first saw the cargo hold of the Runaway.

Everything is so beautifully ornate and unique, yet practical at the same time. This is a society in which sophonts still entertain themselves and enrich their lives by making beautiful bespoke objects for themselves and their friends, no matter how mundane.

And then, Tadder and Relaghuul, the two settler males pre-teen Talita meets in First Contact, absolutely slay! Settler high fashion clearly follows some of the same design theories as nomad decorative art...

So, as much pain as I felt for Talita today, I'm also eating well on the outfits of this temp clan. Let me share:

The matriarch and the elder male (the other one with two trunk piercings) both have these chatelaines, with a similar arrangement: a sheathed tool about as long as a Human pencil, and two containers. But they're wildly different in style and structure. And that turtle-like container is probably designed to be felt by the owner's trunk as much as seen visually by other centaur. What are they for? Ask Bip. 50/50 chance they know, 50/50 chance they'll tell you.

I don't think these are tails of Earth creatures. They might be feathers, or possibly the taxidermied paws of small creatures... like how people used to carry rabbit's foot good luck charms. (word of Jay is that nothing on the Centaur homeworld has a real tail, so people were speculating)

Items tucked into sashes, the way one tucks things into one's obi when wearing traditional Japanese clothing.

The magnifying glasses are all unique, as are their hooks and how they're carried. This reminds me of how phones in the Talitaverse are all unique agglomerations of personalized dongles, that say something about who the owner is, what they need, and what they find important.

I also want you to notice that each of the adults has a recurring theme in their outfits: rows of four spheres. D-shaped ornaments. Dangling C-shaped beads. Ornaments made from scaly animal skin. And, for the matriarch, short strips of ribbon everywhere. And I was right about a scapular. I gave up trying to draw a scapular on my matriarch OC because their pose made it look confusing, but that was my first idea.

I think the kids all have the same outfit because they're all the same age. The clan mass-produced them, I expect. It seems like the kind of thing one would do when one expects nothing other than sextuplets, and has planned their birth carefully as a matter of course.

Centaur vision is heavily optimized for long distance accuracy and motion detection. That's why Centaur clothing hangs and sways and dangles and ruffles and flounces and swings. It makes them more visible, it makes their brains go brrr. The adult guinepillar wings on Relaghuul's outfit must be spectacular when they walk.

On a technical side, I want to point out that the gutter between these pages is beautifully empty of detail. Print readers won't even miss the larva lumps under the matriarch's caparison!

But, how do villagers/pillagers grow? Like, are they small children and at some point they become adults, or do they go through all the life stages until they get a profession/job?

For villagers, would they grow when they get a profession or at some random point?

Here's a diagram on that! In order to stay (somewhat) consistent with the game: All mobs go through a 'growth spurt' where they transition from childhood to adulthood.

For animals only, including ghasts, excluding piglins: this growth spurt can be accelerated with having lots of food, or halted with the golden dandelion.

Once a villager gets that spurt, that's the time to start looking for a job. In the story as is right now, Nil is between a young adult and adult. They're out of any substantial magic. Too late to learn to Enchant.

Illagers are the same.

Only difference is the magic. More on that here.

Magic wains in both, but if trained and honed in on (by becoming Evoker or Librarian) can remain and become stronger.
