Bereavement can make a person see the whole world differently, especially if they have lost someone they were extremely close to, such as a spouse, a relative, or a very dear friend.
Especially through seeing others' reactions to their loved one's death, and the way others treat the bereaved... one may begin to understand things that were never clear before. One may begin to find a deeper understanding of what love is, for others, as well as for oneself.
If one has never yet lost someone especially close and deeply beloved, one must be careful in judging the motivations, attitudes, and reactions of someone who has. There may be elements to them that one simply cannot, yet, understand.
