okay I admit I've been pretty unfair about those, because it IS difficult to encapsulate...(gestures to the huge emotional mess that is NRC) in just a couple of sentences each. and in particular because some of them ARE meant to be surprising; like, for example, Epel being such an angry little scrungle despite looking Like That. so I will eat crow here! (sorry headmaster) (though to be fair I will say that my issue is less the descriptions themselves being terrible, and more that they make all the characters sound like terrible people...which, to be even fairer, they kinda are. just, uh, more entertainingly so.) but yeah, I must fully admit to my hubris, because the only way I can think of to be more accurate is just to add the same exact label to everyone:

god I love it. this boy was born middle-aged. he's got the body of a babyfaced sixteen-year-old and the soul of an angry british man writing furious letters to the local paper because the city council won't do anything about wildlife eating his rosebushes. everything about him is amazing.

the total narrative perfection of Malleus doing an internship at Styx was tempered only by my disappointment that they're going to have him be doing, like, cataloguing and artifact restoration and not actually anything that involves using a computer. :( like. I mean. that's perfect for him actually but I wanted to see Malleus let loose in a server room like a confused giraffe wandering around in a commercial printing shop. I demand Idia trying to teach Malleus how to use the company dropbox. I want to see him try to explain the concept of a password keychain. this is going to be even harder than trying to explain programming to Riddle in less than three minutes, and it's not going to work out nearly as well.

How to talk to doctors

About two hours later I was permanently banned from r/MadeMeSmile for “self-promotion.”

I accepted that different communities have different rules.But then something even stranger happened.Soon afterward, a moderator from r/pics started going through my account. Not just the new post—many of my older painting posts disappeared as well. One after another. Then I was permanently banned there too.

Maybe it was the same moderator. Maybe it wasn’t. I honestly don’t know.

What surprised me wasn’t even the ban itself. It was realizing how much power individual moderators have over what millions of people are allowed to see. One decision can erase years of posts from a community and instantly cut off your ability to participate, even if those posts had been happily sitting there for months or years.I’m not saying moderators shouldn’t have rules. Communities need moderation.But it does make you wonder where the line is between protecting a community and allowing a single interpretation of the rules to completely reshape what people can share.

The funny part?

I wasn’t advertising anything in those posts. I wasn’t posting prices or asking anyone to buy anything. I was simply sharing my original paintings because I enjoy discussing art with strangers from around the world.
