What's a more efficient way to serve the public interest: actually having mechanisms to monitor state officials for corruption and hold them to account, or just letting them loot the public purse to their heart's content so long as they stay loyal to the Leader? It's a nice detail which shows you a difference between him and british people around him. He's not extremely rich, but he is rich. He can possibly afford some kind of valet or a maid, but he is a refugee from a war torn country, who lived his early years as normal working man.
Yes!! And he seems to enjoy going out (when the weather is agreeable) and talking to shopkeepers, trying a bit of chocolate in the store to praise the chocolatier etc it adds this whole element of modern relatability to him thatās so fun.

i ran low motorics for my first pt of de and imbetween all my save spamming i came to a really weird place coming into the tribunal. like, i really wanted titus and as many of his friends as possible to survive, and i was looking at a near impossible hand/eye coordination skill-check. and up until that point i had been super careful to avoid having harry do drugs anywhere where kim could see him and judge him for it, but i was falling far short of the save and the obvious thing was to snort up some speed to give myself the edge, so i did. and i felt like that was in a way the truest moment of the game.
like, iām playing an addict. iām going through withdrawal. my hand is shaking. my hand is shaking and i need it steady. ruining my physical and metal health in the longterm donāt matter rn, bc itās my job to run into an impossible and impossibly violent situation and save as many people as i can, and if i canāt do that, what am i here for at all? more people are going to die unless i make this shot, and i canāt if my hand is shaking, and itās not going to stop shaking until i get my drugs, and so the only reasonable choice to make is to take the drugs, and oh- thatās why he canāt quit! beyond all the difficulties and pain and emotional trauma of the withdrawal itself, thereās no way to keep doing this job (with an abnormally large case load according to kim) and to walk into life and death situations and not botch them, while under the strain of trying to quit. and, sure, because you wonāt quit youāll have breakdowns and go on benders and give yourself brain damage and crash your car, and theyāll dress you down and publicly humiliate you for it. but no matter how much they humiliate you, theyāre also not going to give you proper medical care or lessen your case load or stop throwing you in life or death situations that require you keep using, so you canāt quit.
idk, just likeā¦ itās very strange to me bc i keep seeing people throw out the idea that itās a moral responsibility that Harry go sober (and beyond that a moral responsibility as the player to keep him sober) but this was honestly probably the best and most thought provoking moment in the game for me, and i feel like people are really cheating themselves out of it by getting so caught up in their personal feelings about addiction that they refuse to engage it.

current gen Poirot adaptations are obsessed with writing out Hastings and itās so revealing to me, betrays a certain insecurity of the adaptation itself. Hastings is a great foil to Poirot, and in a lot of ways he just naturally fits alongside him. Poirot is defined by his outsider status, Hastings isnāt.
thereās definitely a fear of Watson comparison hereā¦but like honestly who gives a shit? so what if Hastings is Watson coded?? Like are detectives just not supposed to have friends now?
also a big part of their dynamic is that Poirot needs someone physically capable in his corner, heās not built to chase down baddies or tussle. he has a guy for that. Hastings serves a very necessary function practically with them as a duo. and theyāre cute :(

Honestly I have no problem with games taking just inspiration from disco elysium because it's obviously one of the more succesful video game rpgs lately but I really wish they didn't try to copy the whole look, the ui and exact way the mexhanics work too... It's not that hard to come up with something at least a little bit new with them
I also think that the strength gap is at least partially manufactured women would in fact be stronger overall if little girls were encouraged to do physically taxing games and activities and eat their fill while theyāre growing vs having to constantly diet and be sedentary indoors (or god forbid do intense cardio while under-eating). The amount of adult women honestly afraid to lift weights bc they think theyāll get bulky as though bulking isnāt a full time job that athletes have to spend all their time on and anyone on earth gets shredded from just using their adult muscles for their intended purpose, girl your bone density š„
if you say women are intentionally nerfed from birth in 2026 people look at you like youāre insane and start condescendingly telling you about how women are just better at different things (but not during their periods haha) but this was a completely basic feminist talking point I grew up with like āgirls can do it too!
