Finally went to the ER yesterday to try and figure out what the hell is going on with the vertigo. They did a full work up and chest x-ray (in case it was a respiratory infection).
Xray seemed normal... At least my results were. The process was far from normal.
So I had to hug this panel against the wall which was supposed to capture my xray. Did didn't cooperate. So they tethered it, which should have solved that issue. It did not. They troubleshoot for a bit and eventually had to use the handleheld version. Was fun, lol.
Then came part of my work up, which involved an IV line for blood draws (and potential fluids or medicine). Opted to start on my left side since I had my blood pressure cuff on the right.
Welp, turns out my veins were too deep. They were able to get a sample of blood for lab work, but had to put the IV line on the right instead. My roommate said I went pale as a sheet when they were putting it in, which explains why I felt like passing out. Thankfully, I did not.
Some time later, they had to redo my blood work because it looked like my potassium was too high (which is weird because everything else was normal). Turns out the sample sat too long. Second sample turned out fine.
In the end, they couldn't find anything, so they prescribed me some medicine and sent me on my way, telling me to come back if things get worse or at least follow up with a primary care person... Which would be easier if I had insurance. Fml. Is what is.
But all I could think is 'they stabbed me! Twice :3' which is fun.
