I feel like we as a fandom don’t talk enough about the fact that the first time the polycule are ever in a room together, and they finally get it all out in the open and declare their love and talk about sharing and marriage and all that … it’s right in front of Nynaeve and Lan.

All Nynaeve wanted to do was fuck her husband in peace after a bad day and instead the Dragon Reborn shows up, asks her to cleanse saidin with him, and then Elayne, Aviendha and Min barge in and they all start their polyamory negotiations right there in her sitting room. What did she do to deserve this.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, Rand is an Intentional exploration of what happens when you tell a kid he has to die to save the world. He has years upon years to devour prophecy and determine that *he has to do a lot of very hard, painful things* or lots of people will suffer, and that while doing it he will go crazy, and at the end of it he will die. RJ was exploring the impact of these things on the underqualified farm boy trope, and I think a lot of people are going to fail to grasp that. I think people are going to see the war crimes Rand and either go the Tony Stark route and idealize him to hell and back or they’re going to take the flip side of it and hate him, and refuse to see that he’s just meant to be this kid crumbling under the weight of insanity and a knowledge of his impending pain and death, and that he does some fucked up shit because of it.

Considering the number of book fans that fail to grasp this I don’t think your wrong. Rand gets a lot of hate for both being the Chosen One and failing at being the perfect example of it which is such bullshit.
