Read more for book list from April/May and whether I would recommend each of them.
Would Recommend:
🩵 The Girl That My Mother is Leaving Me For by Cameron Reed (challenge requirement: trans main character) - a sharp sci fi short story.
🤎 Redemption by Sloane Kennedy (challenge requirements: POC and disabled main character) - a romance between a man whose role in an old crime may not be what it seems and the man ordered to watch him.
🤎 Blood Sisters by Vanessa Lillie (challenge requirements: indigenous/Native American, female, and disabled main character) - a mystery/thriller about a Cherokee archeologist for the Bureau of Indian Affairs returning home to Oklahoma to investigate a skull--and more.
❤️ It Started With a Text by Jax Calder (challenge requirements: n/a) - a cute novella about a man who is nearly positive he's being catfished by his favorite musician and said musician who cannot convince him that he's not a catfish.
💚 Deadly Lineage by M.J. May (challenge requirements: n/a) - urban fantasy about a necromancer who helps investigate crimes.
💜 Meet Me at Midnight by Rachel Lacey (challenge requirement: female main character) - a cute novella about a bisexual surgeon on the day of her divorce and a veterinarian she brings an injured stray dog to.
On the Fence:
🩵 Unbury the Bones by Coyote J.M. Edwards (challenge requirement: trans/non-binary main character) - the first of two in a novella duology about an aro vampire who can sometimes see people's bones and his werewolf best friend.
🧡 The Rosewood Penny by J.S. Fields (challenge requirements: lesbian/female main character) - a romance between a thief and a princess who knows her even though they have never met. It was Fine.
🧡 Crash Test by Amy James (challenge requirement: disabled main character) - a Formula 1 romance about what happens to a secret relationship when one of them faces a devestating injury. Cute and emotional but the pacing could have used some work.
💜 Treasured by S.J. Himes (challenge requirement: n/a) - a cute romance between a clairvoyant and a dragon. A bit insta-love-y.
💜 Night Call by C.T. Whistle (challenge requirement: disabled main character) - an omegaverse romantic suspense. I liked it, but you have to be cool with omegaverse stuff.
💜 Taji From Beyond the Rings by R. Cooper (challenge requirement: disabled main character) - a sci fi romance set on a planet where a set of people are beloved sequestered semi-mindless nymphomaniacs. Surprisingly interesting court intrigue plot, and I did enjoy it, but you have to be good with increasingly bonkers almost-omegaverse-heat-like sexual worldbuilding.
💜 Omega's Gamble by Claire Cullen (challenge requirement: n/a) - a fantasy omegaverse sort-of-arranged-marriage/sort-of-marriage-of-convenience romance. Decent, but again, you need to be cool with omegaverse stuff.
Wouldn't Recommend:
💛 Sacred Fate by Eressë Belley (challenge requirement: intersex main character) - a fantasy romance in a world where there are no women and men are all intersex. It was less a plot than just a series of things that happen, and there is so much head-hopping/POV-hopping that it became actively distracting. Not bad, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it.
💙 His Secret Omega by Chani Lynn Feener (challenge requirement: n/a) - I wanted the love interest to die. Unfortunately, he lived.

I’ll try my best to describe this. It’s a video with a mash-up of a bunch of different Disney movies, set to a song that’s a mash-up of a bunch of other songs. That in and of itself wouldn’t make it praiseworthy, but this is DONE SO WELL that just, holy cow.

this is probably my favorite tiktok of all time and I finally got around to showing it to my dad the other day and now he comes home every day and tells me about all the places he saw crumbling concrete and says "guess they didn't add enough chinchilla flakes"
My dad has worked in construction is whole life, primarily with a company that does concrete foundations, and I immediately sent him this back when I first found it on TikTok, and he IMMEDIATELY shared it with everyone he worked with. They apparently still quote it on his job sites to this day.
