"trans" is a descriptor, a modifier, like "tall" or "fat". a woman who is trans. saying "transwoman" is othering, it implies she is different than a woman, not a woman but a "transwoman".

because everyone told me to, i made this text post into a comic.

got the idea for this one from seeing, for like the billionth time, "can trans women be lesbians". and yes, im sure most of the time i see this being asked its a recently out trans woman asking this to find comfort and validation.

but thats not the only type of person asking that exact question, either.

"can women be lesbians?" is really what these kind of questions sound like, its really what's being asked.

if you're a trans woman seeking validation and asking that sort of question, or if you're not and you're just seeking answers because you're cis and uneducated, remember this. trans women are just women who happen to be trans. reframe your question by dropping the word "trans" and then answer it yourself.

so this comic kinda went in a direction i didnt originally intend, so i'll talk here about what my thoughts were. often i'll hear people saying something about passing not being necessary or whatever, and that IS true!!! but it is also ok and completely understandable to WANT to pass.

like, its ok to want to get to a point where strangers just treat you as they would anyone cis of your sex instead of treating you as 'one of them transes'.

but in turn, its also completely ok to NOT pass or NOT WANT to pass. you can do whatever you want with how you look and present and represent yourself!!!!!!! theres no wrong way to be you!!!!!!!! grrr!!!!

just treat urself and others with love and kindness and you can do whatever you want forever.
