im starting out my new bullet journal! it begins.
bad eating choices aftermath tips
so, when youâre busy studying or youâre stressed we tend to eat a bunch of food we probably shouldnât. a lot of the food makes us more tired or even more stressed out like junk food, sugar, etc. iâm gonna try to break down the specific types and give tips for how to recover afterwards:Â
carbs: bread, pasta, ramen noodles.Â
do not eat fruit! this sounds weird but your blood sugar levels are really high at this point and fruit can make it even worse.Â
drink tea ( i recommend green tea but whatever you have on hand is going to be good! ) double the amount of tea you usually would steep. so use two tea bags instead of one.Â
at your next meals, increase protein and fat in your dish.Â
take a walk. itâll help make your belly feel less ouch.Â
salty foods: chips, fries, most potato-y foods
eat bananas or spinach! these foods have potassium and they counteract the sodium from the salt.Â
water water water. youâre gonna feel bloated otherwise and youâre not gonna feel good working on that assignment.Â
sugary foods: candy, ice cream, cookies.Â
eat some fatty foods. some that i can think of are: peanuts, any type of nut, avocado, hummus and veggies.Â
move! even if itâs just walking up your stairs for a bit or walking around your room or building. move it off.Â
drink more tea! donât put anything in it ( maybe a lemon? but i have always thought that just straight black tea was the best ).Â
try to restrict sugar in tomorrowâs meals!Â
i hope this helps out my fellow students after a regretful binge! happy ( and healthy ) studying!Â
Staying healthy during the academic year is VERY important!! Iâm on the quarter system at UCLA which leaves NO time for students to get sick and miss class. Thankfully I havenât had any medical issues that have kept me from missing weeks of class, but prevention is key!
Here are some tips I followed last year to feel my best for schoooooool.

September monthly đ I cannot find a monthly that works for me, so hereâs something new. I have a good feeling about this one!
MBTI types are a pretty accurate way to asses your personality, and it can be super useful to know yours. Ahead are a few tips to build a study style based on your personality. If you donât know yours, you can find out here.Â
e (extroverted)
Extroverts gain energy from being around people. Studying around other people can help energize and motivate them. Study with a study buddy when it makes sense (group projects or for an upcoming test), or taking work to a coffee shop or library to be around people but still study on alone. If a coffee shop isnât close by, listening to coffee shop sounds can also help.Â
i (introverted)
Introverts need lots of alone time to recharge, so making a study space into a retreat can help them to feel relaxed and motivated. Introverts benefit from surrounding themselves with calming sounds, favorite foods, and everything else they need to camp out in their room for a few hours and work in solitude.Â
s (sensing)
Sensing personalities like to focus on, well, their senses. This means that theyâre likely very hands-on learners! Doing something with the information will help it stick, try to find a hands-on activity that relates to the information or take active notes if reading.Â
n (intuition)
Intuitive students donât need to experience something hands-on to understand it, so they can focus on understanding the information in other ways. Mind maps can be very useful to understand the relationships and connections between things, and look at the (often forgotten) little details and facts.
t (thinking)
Thinkers are very analytical and likely big fans of math and science. Analyzing information and laying all the facts out clearly will help it to stick.Â
f (feeling)
Feeling personalities are very caring and are more focused with people than with facts. Finding a way to relate to the information will help feeling personalities to understand it.Â
j (judging)
Judging personalities are very organized and task-oriented. Keeping their study space clean and organized will prevent stress, and keeping a detailed planner will keep them on task.Â
p (perceiving)
Perceiving personalities, on the other hand, like to be flexible. They benefit from having a loosely scheduled to-do list that can be adjusted based on their bursts of energy. They may benefit from self-imposed deadlines to motivate them. Making work fun is also important to them, as is an occasional change of scenery.Â

tip :  use  a  sketchbook  as  a  planner  if  you  like  to  be  more  artistic  with  your  spreads !Â
Every year when January rolls around I have the urge to simplify â to start the new year fresh and clean and uncluttered. This doesnât mean getting rid of everything (Iâm faaaar from being a minimalist), just getting rid of the things that weigh you down. So, hereâs the unofficial guide to simplifying without going full-on Marie Kondo.Â
physical clutter
Whatâs the area in your room that stresses you out when you see it? Start there. A few quick tips on how to clean specific areas:
closet
Take allll your clothes out of your closet, wardrobe, or dresser
Put the things you know youâre keeping back in right away â your favorite jeans, that black dress you wear all the time, etc
Once youâre left with just the âmaybesâ, try every item on.
If you wouldnât buy it all over again, it should probably go.
Donât just toss what you donât want, though! Donate it to a local thrift store, charity, or church with a community closet.
desk + shelves
Again, start by completely clearing off your desk and study area.
Go through your binders and make sure everything is in itâs correct place
Migrate materials from old classes into files out of the way if theyâre important, or toss them if you wonât use them again.
Make sure everything has a home â pencils should be in a bag or mug, papers in files or trays, and notebooks neatly stacked.
Make a point to clean your desk regularly!
If you have supplies you donât need, donate them! Letâs be real â you have way more pens than you could ever use.
Books are also a wonderful thing to donate! Your local library or thrift shop would be my top pick.Â
If you still have old textbooks laying around, list them on your schoolâs bulletin board to sell, since most thrift shops wonât accept them.Â
under your bed
Letâs be real: most all of this can go. Grab a trash bag and toss anything thatâs not important.
You can get one of those rolling tupperware under-the-bed organizers, or just stick what has to stay under there in a thin  cardboard box.
Be sure not to leave things loose under there, or you may end up with some unwanted pals living under there ~
digital clutter
I donât know about you, but I feel like I have a lot of digital clutter. Itâs so easy to build it up and forget about all that you have stored on your computer!
Go through your phone and delete photos you donât need, apps you donât use, and old messages.Â
Do a major computer overhaul! Delete old files and programs so that you have more space.
Put all your files into folders so that theyâre easier to find later on.
Take a look through your friends and following lists, and delete all those people that post negative things.
mental clutter
This is the big one. Mental clutter comes from all of the above, plus just living your life. Some tips for decluttering your mind:
Do a nightly brain dump. Before you get into bed each night, open up your journal and write down everything thatâs on your mind. Once itâs on paper, you can let it go until the morning.Â
Find relaxing habits to practice everyday: yoga, taking a warm bath, going for a run, etc
Practice mindfulness or meditation
Keep a planner!
Practice not letting yourself harbor bad thoughts
Stay away from negative people if you can. You donât need negative attitudes to be adding your already stressful life!
simplify your schedule
Learn to say ânoâ more â if you donât want to go to your friendâs-cousinâs-nieceâs dance recital, donât.
Streamline your daily routine;
Get ready faster by nixing the makeup you donât love to put on and finding quick and easy hairstyles
Make an outfit idea board on Pinterest and fill it with outfits that you can make from pieces you already have in your closet so you spend less time finding an outfitÂ
Cook meals in advance when possible, or stick an easy meal in the crockpot before you leave for the day
Tidy every room just a bit before you leave it, so that you donât have to devote an hour to cleaning it later on
Make time for you each week
See if there are any chores that you can outsource (eg, some grocery stores will shop for you for free, all you have to do is order online and go pick it up)
Donât feel like you have to participate in something you donât enjoy. If you donât love the sport, donât play it
I hope you all have a very simple and relaxing year, good luck to you all!
Super relevant for the start of the school year! Iâll be doing all of this again in the coming days x
