he readily welcomed alex back and was very warm and gentle in his words with him when he could have been annoyed.

he obviously deeply appreciates and respects christine and how she runs things, enough to ask for her help in the interview.

that small moment where fareed corrected him was really sweet and shows that he respects his opinion and doesn't mind being corrected (and was very empathetic about his mother).

I'm thinking about the implications. Please say all the things.

I mean... it's about Daniel's stays in rehab. About Armand's tendency to erase memories in a try to alleviate pain. About Alex telling Larry about a similar experience, while in a similar situation.

Canonically Daniel got addicted to alcohol and Armand's blood in the books.

What if that also happened here? What if that is the reason Daniel has this weird resistance to it all, and has to take "antibodies"? What if past DM happened, and it drove Daniel around the block and the world again and again and he forgot about it because Armand has erased the memories in an effort to take the pain? What if these erasures only served to drive Daniel more into madness and drugs and alcohol? What if Armand tried to ease his pain again then, unable to stay away? What if that cycle repeated again and again?

There is soooo much we do not know right now.

I personally don't think they'll get much further than TotBT with the series, and I hope that they'll keep the Louis-Lestat relationship more central than it is in that book.

It makes sense to me that people are frustrated with lack of Louis-Lestat in the same scenes this season. I know we've had them together in ep1/2 and will in eps5/6 and likely 7. But I just don't think I'm deluded to care more about their relationship than any other on the show. The show itself has built that investment.

Nonny, they already set up the Prince Lestat arc in this episode. THIS episode. Next episode will then put more of the later books into the show.

What I am getting "upset" about is when people reduce this show to a romance-only show, because it is not.

The romance is PART OF THE story.

In a version of the show where the romance was the primary focus? We would have known by episode three of season one that Armand was in love with Daniel and was being distracted by his love for Daniel. By the end of Season 1, we would have learned everything about Armand and Daniel's romantic past together, why it ended, why Armand was with Louis (again), and the season would have ended with us knowing that Armand was revealing himself as a tactic to try and gain control of things again after being so distracted by Daniel's presence in his life after so many years.

Meanwhile, in the actual show? We've only just learned that Armand wasn't reading Daniel's mind during Dubai, during seasons one and two, because of his love for Daniel.

In the fourth episode of season three.

After the Dubai arc was already over.

That is the difference.

The primary focus of the framing device was not on Armand trying to manage his love for Daniel during the interview. The primary focus was on Louis' memories and recollections of his life via the interview he was doing.

What is the main theme and framing of each season focused on? It has never, not once, been primarily the love stories and romance. Even in Season 1, Loustat got together and symbolically married in episode one of season one.

In any other show? It would have taken them one whole season before they finally got together. And then one whole season to break them up the next season.

This show did it in seven episodes. Because the narrative, even in season one, was never just focused on or about the romance.

The romances are an aspect of the larger story the show is telling, and the character arcs within those stories. But it is not the primary aspect of the larger stories being told, or the main theme and framing of those stories.
