Like it or not, this is peak male performance haircut they gave Marius is bang-on accurate to the Early Imperial period of ancient Rome, which is where Marius is from. It makes much more sense when you see it in its ancient context, not juxtaposed with early 1900s clothing. I figured it was time to warm up my "Christopher Heyerdahl as Marius" skills.

What do you think about the showrunners saying that Daniel will die? You think it is true, or maybe it means Daniel will get the body switch treatment, which would only mean that Daniel will live but not play by Eric any longer. If that's the case, it will severly pissed me off. First, because David is my favourite character, and second, because I think Eric has earned a place in our hearts playing Daniel, and it would be such a bummer to see him go only for his character to be played by a younger actor. Plus, it would totally disrupt the whole theme of the body switch. David was human in his previous life, and it was only when he got the body-switch treatment that Lestat r*** into immortality. But having Daniel already experienced immortality, to be moved into a mortal body, only to be transformed again! Honestly, it would come out as a senseless mess in my humble opinion.
Well, it's not just the showrunners, Eric himself also said something about asking to be killed off in a grandiose way on one of the "Behind the Scenes" segments. And then there was Baby Jenk's off-hand comment, "Oh, he dies BAD" in Episode One. I very much want to believe that they're all being cheeky and silly, and that Daniel will in fact survive, because I would be crushed if that were true. If Daniel truly WILL die, I find it bizarre that such a major character death would be spoiled BEFORE the fact.
As for the "body-switch" thing, I certainly wouldn't be happy, but I'd rather have "new-body Daniel" than "no Daniel." And I do understand that, come April, Eric Bogosian will be 74 years old. He appears to be in fine health, and appears to be enjoying the role, but of course we can't know the details of his personal life. If I'm coming home from work tired as hell at age 37, I can just imagine how tiring it can get for someone twice my age.
All I can do, and all we can do, is "stay tuned!"
The Rothko Chapel
A scorned Daniel grieving in the Rothko Chapel, unaware that Armand has come to ensure nobody disturbs his beloved boy, first by causing the security guard to have an uncontrollable coughing fit, and then (with the powers of my artistic license) by using his Mind Gift to put up a psychic barrier.
What do you think about what they did to David? To me, it was like a blow in the guts. So far, I've been so mesmerised by the show's high production values that I've overlooked all the bad calls they've made. But erasing such an important character? How are they planning to adapt TOTBT or Mememock or Merrick? And he mentioned that he is not in love with the fandom! Excuse me, I thought they were adapting Anne Rice books, not what fandom thinks of Anne Rice books! David is and will forever be one of my favourite characters of the books and af all fiction (along with Marius), and he doesn't deserve this. I'm still enjoying season 3, but the spell has broken; it is not the same. I know now this is not the adaptation that Anne Rice's masterpiece deserves. I'm gonna keep hoping that somehow some of the rational voices of the fandom, who dedicate their time to love Anne Rice's books in their entirety, despite their flaws (as all works of art are flawed and it's part of their value) will reach them and rectify this atrocity. Don't get me wrong, I get adaptations need to make some changes, but one thing is changing some aesthetics or dates or minor events, as long as the spirit of the original work is there. But deleting a major character for such petty reasons not only makes no sense, but it is alsoan insult to the original work and those who love it.
I was quite surprised and even a bit dismayed by it, and even more surprised the "welp, he's dead, moving right along" way in which the episode dropped the news. Although, to be fair, show-only fans won't even know who he was, so making a great pomp and circumstance about it would only confuse them and slow the pacing of the episode--something this season, which is moving at breakneck speed, can't accommodate.
I wouldn't go so far as to call getting rid of David an "atrocity," but I would certainly call it a "quiet yet very loud choice" that feels like a response to the very online dislike of his character. And at this point, it really can't be rectified. It seems they will be introducing aspects/themes of Merrick and Memnoch in their own decidedly unique way that allows for David to not be involved, and in a way where dedicating one season to one book won't necessarily be required. I don't know how exactly, but if they have already set up that framework with David out, then he's out. Otherwise, why do it in the first place?

What do you think of show-Marius's hairstyle? Personally, it's the only aspect of this Marius that I hate, and I hope it is rectified in the future.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't longing to see long, luscious blonde locks on Marius, but I do understand the vision they seem to be going with in terms of his look, which seems to be "ancient Roman with a statue-like look, which makes sense considering the time period he's from. It looks just like a typical ancient Roman men's haircut that has grown out a bit. Of course, to most people, it looks like he sat in a barber's chair, plunked down $5, and said, "Fuck me up." Now if he regains his long hair later on, I certainly won't complain, but for the moment I am becoming accustomed to his look. For better or for worse, style-wise, he's my Marius! I hope that answers your question!
