i can’t even begin to describe how much of lestat’s character was left out by choosing to speedrun his past. the only negative thing i have to say about this season

making parallels between gabistat and louclaudia, or saying that louis is taking advantage of a young woman is not an exageration. “so you’re saying louis is a rapist” “so you think louis would have sex with claudia”. you are fucking dumb. the common factor is exploitation. no one is calling louis a rapist.

they’re not showing lestat’s past to excuse what he did, but it’s because it’s been canon for forty years and you as an adult, are supposed to be able to feel some sort of empathy to him being abused and also understand that he was also an abuser and one thing does not cancel the other. for the love of god introduce yourself to the concept of two things being true at once

how wicked of a being you have to be for your mere hallucination make lestat cry and pray.

it’s so interesting to see how in the book lestat carries magnus with him. he stays at magnus’ tower, sleeps in magnus’ coffin, spends magnus’ money, wears clothes that were chosen by magnus, thinks about him constantly, wishes he had stayed with him, wonders what he would do in situations. lestat walks around paris and every other vampire refers to him as magnus’ blood, magnus’ fledgling, magnus’ bastard. like a shadow he cannot scape
