Hi, I’m Mags. I used to be on Tumblr ages ago and left, but I’m back again - at first to keep up with friends, but now because I’m just kinda… here? This blog is a mess and has a lot of cats, I dunno.
I live with sirenianheart and we have two cats named Kiki and Élodie. My Kiki tag is its friend kiki, and my Élodie tag is its friend elodie!
I’m (that is, we’re) plural with no real system main (the system original stopped fronting), but we all respond to Magpie as a name and the aforementioned pronouns. Individual system members might occasionally refer to themselves by their actual names and we might figure out a tagging system for personal posts eventually? Mutuals can request a link to a doc that has info on several of us, we don’t have it up anywhere more public than a locked twitter.

Man okay when I got my wisdom teeth out it was a fucking experience. Before the surgery wasn’t too interesting but as soon as I woke up I saw the nurse next to me and was all like “hey… i think… i died… and now I’m in a parallel universe… and i gotta go back to my house and kill the me from this universe” and he was just kinda like “alright, you do that”. And then the other nurse kept going in and out of the room to get things and I thought there was like 5 of her that kept coming out of the room, and then so when she was wheeling me out in a wheelchair I was like “damn… why are there so many of you… there’s like 5 many of you” and she was just kinda like “alright, you do that”.
Anyway I got to the car and my dad was there and he was like “how ya feeling son” in the dadliest way possible and I was like “MAN I AM PUMPED LETS GET SOME JUICE I’M STARVED” so we drove about 3 blocks to a jamba juice, whereupon I say “I’m good I can do this” and run/drunkstumble 30 feet to the door. I burst in the door like a viking returning from some fucking battle and holler “WHATS UP FUCKS” to everyone in the store, which was thankfully just the 2 people behind the counter, who looked probably as scared/confused as a jamba juice employee could look.
So anyway, as my dad explained the situation I looked up at the jamba juice menu and was utterly fucking lost in it. Like I swear I was looking at this menu board for a year, deciphering this Rosetta stone of fruits. I distinctly remember that I was looking at each item in a smoothie, thinking of how it tasted, then moving on to the next thing and thinking of how that tasted, and how they would taste together. Since most smoothies had 3 or 4 items, this took some thinking. So my dad sees me in this extreme brain blast state of mind and says “hey are you going to order or what”. Keep in mind I’m on the first fucking smoothie on the list here. So I just say “shush man I’m trying to do fruit science”, and then when I realized that this process could take literal years, I just said “yeah give me a smooth regular” which for the uninitiated, isn’t actually a real thing on any menu. Oh, also I asked them if the “boosted” smoothies would give me super powers and then pointed my fingers at them and made “lightning noises”.
So my dad just orders me the first thing on the menu and I go to sit down and stare out the window or some shit and my thoroughly amused dad just looks at me and says “how ya feelin?”. Now at this time I was feeling a lot of things, but most noticeable to me was the gauze in my mouth, so I just look at him and say “there’s these fuckin… tiny sheep in my head” which at the time was the best way I had to convey this feeling. Anyway about that time, the jamba juice guy brings us our drinks and he gives me a small thing of mario kart stickers and I swear I almost cried from the tsunami of emotion that gift made me feel (I still have them).
Anyway the rest of the story is we drove home and I explained this programming project I was working on to my dad in perfect detail somehow and then I came home and went on facebook and posted a comment on my friends status (because I couldn’t find the status update bar) that read: “i just took a lort of painkillers and yelled at everyone in a jambo juice”

The 12th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 30th August 2025.
It’s short and easy, for most participants it takes 5 minutes or less.
After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.

okay, explanation as follows under the cut, it's very long, sorry!
first off, this was technically made due to an alter in our system looking for an agápē flag for a while and not being able to find one. (i mean if you have made one and i haven't seen it i'd be happy to draw him using all the flags...) a lot of the interpretations are influenced in part from him. nii identifies as grey-aroace with agápē and just wanted something for that. anyways!
the initial idea of having a main color for agápē with additional colors for the other forms of love was from elos, and sort of handed off to nii to pick the color symbolism from there! the idea was that all forms of love can be found in agápē, they're all there in the ring in the center.
the orange for the backdrop was genuinely because when nii was describing how he feels about it personally he described it as "orange, i guess!", and when looking up color symbolism, agápē is described as orange in the color wheel theory of love. we don't love color wheel theory because it gets very pop psych, but the coincidence was a bit much to pass up.
spreading out into other analogous and complimentary colors is meant to symbolize community.
for the ring, copying from chat when i posted the almost finished version with minor edits to explain better!
philautía as purple due to it being a complimentary color, specifically due to elos bringing up it working as a contrast to agápē. also, yes, due to some interpretations treating it as a form of vanity (intended as ribbing to this because honestly self-respect and self-preservation is something i need more of so like props to people who have that down). leans pinkish due to love connotations and because that was easier with violet.
érōs as red because passion as red is really common. leans pink for the obvious reasons but also due to some sources mentioning sense memory as a window to spiritual beauty and i just really loved that? closest thing i could apply for that was pink, and also my appreciation.
philía and storgē are A CHALLENGE because they share a lot of basic color language. philía is blue and storgē is green. i was looking for associations for loyalty and trust due to these being the easiest to find in color language, and both show up in blue and green, with green having things like "growth" and rarely "family" so it got storgē.
xenía i put as a lightly coppery brown, like a home cooked meal. i know some people really dont care for brown so i'm a bit worried that it might not be liked on a flag, but i... do like warm brown. i have bias. whoops.
also some extra notes that aren't really all that necessary to know but are just kind of interesting
nii has described agápē as "feeling like the acceptance stage of grief" before finding that it was also used as a word for showing affection towards the deceased.
he's also described it as feeling like a dog waiting for someone and the pop psych meaning of agápē called him out on that too by saying that people who feel agápē typically just wait for people.
being absolutely called out by ancient greeks and pop psych books going "i know what you are" while you're just going I JUST LIKE PEOPLE. I JUST. CARE ABOUT PEOPLE. WHAT???

Listen, my clients never know how to dress for court. I won’t get into the number of people that have worn weed related prints or jewelry to drug charges because nobody has time for that.

It’s black clients that break out the craziest fucking suits I’ve ever seen in my life and my friends, the judges love it. They’re literally like “Thank you for respecting the court and dressing appropriately.” Congratulating this 60 year old man in solid mauve velvet and a bow tie. Or 20 year old in neon green pinstripe, who has, of course, taken off his hat as he entered, causing the judge to puff up proudly about the Youth and decide to dismiss his reckless driving ticket.
Idk if any black men are on tumblr but wear your weird amazing suits to court. Make the lawyers jealous. Be polite. Win.

I keep coming back to this, it’s such an incredible meta-commentary on capitalism and digital control.
Someone made a Tumblr account pretending to be the Pokeball monopoly in a fictional universe, and people made a “KUNG POW PENIS” string using the in-universe letter-shaped pokemon, followed by a pokemon (zorua) making a slamming blast towards the camera, completing the spell or whatever.
They’re mirroring the real-life “silence capitalist” attitude, against a real account pretending to be a fake corporation, using symbols from the fake corporation’s world. They’re pretending like this attitude exists in-universe. This attitude in part exists due to real-life corporations increasingly encroaching into social life and injecting their presence on social media, like this fictional corporation is doing. It works as a good joke!
The real-life Pokemon company, presumably, issues a takedown, or the corporation of Tumblr does so voluntarily on their behalf, taking down the fictional KUNG POW PENIS on a copyright claim.
In doing so, they’re protecting real corporate interests, against a bunch of people fake-insulting a fake corporation. The result looks exactly like the same pro-corporate control over media exists in-universe, as if the fictional company had issued a harassment or defamation takedown instead. In doing so, Tumblr advanced the joke even further by showing why the anti-corporate attitude would exist in a supposed Pokemon utopia.
