I’m a very sensitive person, so seeing people get hate online who aren’t even related to me upsets me, so I feel like I need to comment on this. I am a firm believer that you can think whatever you want about someone, but mocking and making fun of them is disgusting. You don’t have to like Charlie, you can hate him for all I care, but the amount of blatant bullying I’ve seen because he had an attitude on live is truly upsetting. Yes. We’re human. We don’t always think before we say things, and they have consequences.
I have seen many tweets of people in this fandom saying that Madison and Owen need saving from Charlie and it’s clear they’re so uncomfortable with him. Can you sit back and imagine, please, how he would have felt seeing that. Seeing that people are claiming his friends don’t like him and are uncomfortable around him. That’s so cruel to say to or about someone in general. Somehow saying he’s an “ugly ass man”, a “cunt,” “the most sour person ever,” a “self-centered fish obsessed clown,” or a “Nemo fucker,” is better than him saying “fuck off” to Owen? You can’t sit here and get mad at him for saying that, and then turn around and bully him for his looks and morals.
If he turns off his comment section, which I’m sure he will again, then same people are gonna say “No one was being rude to him. We’re just holding him accountable” STOP WITH THAT BULLSHIT. You can call someone out for their disrespect, without disrespecting them back. A little, “Hey, Charlie, that wasn’t cool. You were being rude in the live,” would have been just enough to get the point across.
Can we please stop living in this society where people can’t make mistakes? You have all made jokes that don’t land right. You have all talked back to someone when you shouldn’t have. That’s called emotions and being human. Maybe he shouldn’t have said that to Owen, and maybe he shouldn’t have been playing music the whole stream, but do you think talking about someone the way that you are is okay?
For all we know, Charlie could be the most toxic member of the cast. But we don’t know anything more than what they’ve shown us. So before you sit here and label him this disgusting human being, take a step back and maybe think about how he could have just been having a bad day. Or maybe he is this monster, but until you know that, stfu.
Obviously I’m not referencing the people who were civil and not insulting him, but the antis on Twitter who completely degrade him.
