As much as I love thinking up theories and rage about no season 2 sometimes you just gotta appreciate the season that you have. (I've said some of this in my Rant but i just gotta do it again)
Julie and the phantoms seemed like such an unassuming tv show at first glance, but I love the pacing of the show and that no character is just there. Every character has a purpose.
I was very surprised when I watched the first episode because it starts off on a song. It immediately made me wonder why? At this point you don't know anything about the boys, so why a song? And then you listen to the lyrics and be like ok these boys are very ambitious. You start jamming out. It immediately makes us invested in learning the story of these boys who are so passionate about music. Imo much better than a flash back scene. We get to see the boys die not them reminiscing about dying.
And man, the whole theme of the show, grieving and coming out strong, standing tall, overcoming grief, moving on, its very touching.
I also like the role of dahlias in the show. They always show up when the character is stuck as if signifying that they will come out stronger in the end.
I also love how different the characters are.
Ray is such a good dad there is no "my dad doesn't understand me" Julie doesn't tell her dad about the boys being ghosts because she didn't want her dad to worry more for her.
Julie herself is such a down to earth character. I also love how they cast actual teenagers in the show (ik the guys were in their 20s but they were still young). Julie's journey from not being able to sing to singing alone for her friends and herself was so beautiful. Her friendship with Flynn, her crushes, even her rivalry with Carrie were all very relatable for other teenagers.
Reggie while being the comedic relief character has a very deep personality. He's my favourite and at first i was like oh another funny guy who's gonna just crack bad jokes and flirt. But he is genuinely funny. And adorable. He also had mannerisms like fidgeting his fingers when he's nervous and liking talking to Ray that makes it obvious that he didn't have a good home life but tries to be happy and spread happiness. His big brother energy to Carlos and Julie and all round caring nature make him very likeable as a character.
Alex is another one of my favourites. I love how him being gay was just a fact. There was no big drama about it. Him being sarcastic but anxious was a funny combo sometimes and also made him very relatable when I also express my fondness through sarcasm but my friends know I'm not being mean because I genuinely love those things about them. His crush on Willie is just lovely like đ¤đ¤ enough said.
Luke is a character that i was iffy about at first (my sister hates him its very funny to see) but after the "three guys just found out they had a bad 25 years" line i kinda saw his perspective and by ep 2 i loved him too. He is very passionate about music and unsaid emily destroyed me. (Charlie and the actors that played Luke's parents were fantastic in that omg). He also cares very much about his friends. He is a protector and will do anything for his friends.
I'll be here forever if i listed what i love about every single character but just I love Flynn's protectiveness towards Julie and her clear to the point thought process, she holds the braincell of the gang. Carlos is such a kid omg i love that he found out about the guys being ghosts.
Nick is actually a very sweet guy he handled the rejection very nicely. Carrie is also a good rival, while cliched at times she has a reason for holding a grudge and is a very good performer.
Caleb is like the most classy villain ever like i hate him but he has great style đ. Willie is a wild soul who is trapped but he spread some of his wildness to Alex and i love it. Tia Victoria when at times is a bit overbearing, genuinely cares about Ray, Julie and Carlos and we love an aunt like that come on.
I love how all songs have messages too. They are so motivational. I always get inspired when i hear them.
As far as ships go, I love Juke, i absolutely loveee Willex too. Both are very cute together. Absolutely would have loved seeing more of Willex in season 2.
(and as far as non canon ships go Peterpatter (or ruke or leggie) and Flarrie are my favs)
I just wanna thank Kenny and the whole cast and crew of Julie And The Phantoms for bringing us this amazing show. I'm just glad, cancellation or not, we at least got to see 9 whole episodes of this show đŠľ.

just now realizing that the reason luke is so excited to see the couch in the studio again in episode 1 (âmy couch!!â) is because that was the couch he slept on after running away from homeâŚ. my heartâŚ.
No part of the JATP fandom has filled me with as much rage as the novelization of season 1 (The Edge of Great). I didnât even read the full thing I just started skimming because it was ROUGH. Because what do you MEAN thereâs no Perfect Harmony? Willex is so painfully watered down, scenes either cut down or cut out entirely. Pretty much all of Reggieâs family moments with the Molinas are gone. Lacking Molina family in general. What the fuck do you mean Caleb âjokingly hypnotizedâ Lifers, what does any of that mean?? We donât get Emilyâs reaction to Unsaid Emily. Most of the emotion has been sucked dry from everything. POV switches are forced and usually not the person who we should be focusing on (Reggieâs SINGULAR chapter does him so dirty, donât even get me started on Willieâs). They skip Julieâs moment with her family after the Orpheum show, go right to the garage and condense that into four pages. So much out of pocket shit was said (because what do you mean playing with Caleb just âwasnât worth itâ after getting TORTURED AND PUPPETED AROUND ON STAGE?)
I am on my knees BEGGING Kenny to let me rewrite it myself, I WILL PAY TO DO IT AND GET NOTHING BACK I JUST NEED THEM TO BE DONE JUSTICE đ
