The third season of HSMTMTS will forever piss me off. People like to say that EJ started acting worse in it, but that's not true, he was just treated horribly by the writers. He was clearly drowning, and no one was showing him any support except for Val, but even Val cast him as Sven, as if the guy did not have enough on his plate. EJ was stressed as hell, and Ricky still didn't know all his lines by opening night. His dad still wouldn't say he's proud of him. And EJ was literally the only person holding everything together, and he still tried to do his best to be there for Gina, he got her flowers, told her she was a star. He wasn't always the most present, but it wasn't something to be broken up over, especially with the camp literally only being two weeks long. If they had broken up because he would be going to college and Gina didn't think she could do long distance, I would respect that, but that's not how it was framed.
And I HATE that Gina was the one who gave the speech to Ricky at the end of the season, about how he's not a Maybe to her, he's a Yes. Because that's not what she was saying earlier in the season, she was saying that she wants to be somebody's Yes, and not their Maybe (she was a Yes to EJ, but whatever). Ricky had never been clear with her before, Gina was his second option for the first two seasons, and he did lead her on during season one. If they want to convince me of this relationship, Ricky has to be the one to make the speech, not Gina. Also, if Gina's the one making the speech, it confirms that she left EJ for Ricky (it implies EJ is a Maybe to her, which is BS since she wanted him to be sure about her), and it ruins the whole break up. All her other reasons just don't have many legs to stand on when you realize she wasn't fully into that relationship.
I really like Gina, her giving the speech was unfair.
no because what if I said that Beauty And The Beast was perfect for Portwell because EJ was shut out for his mistakes, and Gina was able to see the beauty blooming in their relationship despite everything wrong he had done. What then? 💔

breakups despite them being better for eachother than the endgame

It is 2 years later, and I am still upset that they had Ricky and Gina be endgame on HSMTMTS.
Gina and EJ had such beautiful growth together throughout the series, only for EJ's whole character to be assassinated for Ricky's benefit. It was bullshit, and I stand by that.
Portwell was the better option, and I will go down with this ship.
