This sandwich takes the traditional BLT and gives it a southern twist by adding fried green tomatoes that are crispy and a special sauce that makes every bite taste sweet and sour. It's a sweet treat that tastes great!
Ingredients: 4 slices thick-cut bacon. 2 large green tomatoes, sliced. 1/2 cup all-purpose flour. 2 large eggs, beaten. 1 cup breadcrumbs. Salt and pepper to taste. 8 slices bread, toasted. Lettuce leaves. 1/4 cup mayonnaise. 2 tablespoons ketchup. 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard. 1 tablespoon honey. 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder. 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika.
Instructions: In a skillet, fry bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside. Dredge tomato slices in flour, dip in beaten eggs, then coat with breadcrumbs seasoned with salt and pepper. Fry tomato slices in bacon fat until golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels. Mix mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, honey, garlic powder, and smoked paprika to make the special sauce. Spread special sauce on toasted bread slices. Layer lettuce leaves, fried green tomatoes, and crispy bacon on bread slices. Top with remaining bread slices to make sandwiches. Slice sandwiches diagonally and serve.
