It’s really telling of Halsin’s character that, left to his own devices, he chooses to found a town following the fall of the Netherbrain. He responds to the Baldur’s Gate refugee crisis by fostering a new community where the needs of orphans, refugees, and others can be met. To me, this alone implies he isn’t “anti-civilization” or “anti-urban” or whatever, as sometimes gets bandied about. We can infer from his actions that he clearly sees the value of organized social life.

If Halsin were truly "anti-civilization", he would have encouraged Kagha and joined up with the Shadow Druids— that's their whole thing, they believe that 'nature' is paramount and should reign supreme and completely (conveniently) forget about the fact that the sentient peoples of Faerûn* are inextricably part of nature and cannot exist outside of it.

I just think characters like Halsin and Blackwall should look a little more like sumo wrestlers and a lot less like shredded, 0% body fat, dehydrated Marvel superheroes.

Fanfiction writers be like:

you know what we could gain from it? your love and support. talk to the writers. leave comments. it means the world to learn that somebody liked our work. you can add emojis with no words. you can quote moments you liked the most (or that caused you the most emotional damage, lol).

I really pondered posting this here, because things can get out of hand on Tumblr quickly... But then again, I paid too much for this commission to keep it hidden.

All throughout childhood, while my peers were socializing and making friends, I studied the blade read so many books that I am now almost legally blind, which left me with vast and deeply instinctual understanding of English grammar - and next to no ability to explain how it actually works. Friends will often ask me to proofread their writing and then get very mad when I say things like, "You need to completely reverse this sentence and cut this clause entirely; no, I'm sorry, i don't know why, I just know that the way it is now ITCHES 😭"

Documenting what is quite possibly the best exchange I have ever seen on this website.
