so for Griffguts I actually can’t see their first time being anything less than dubcon because of their past and what would most likely be their motivations. I like the idea of it happening right before Guts leaves, if Griffith finds him before Casca. Griffith will offer any part of himself - his mind, his voice, his heart, his flesh and blood and body, to get what he wants. And since, in his mind, Guts has everything he could ever want at this point/everything Griffith could ever give him, then the next natural step is to offer his body. It’s not even necessarily that Griffith doesn’t want Guts that way - I don’t think he’s aware of his feelings until after he’s rescued, though even then he never fully grasps them - but he knows, or thinks he knows, that this is a surefire way to ‘claim’ Guts. Now when it comes to Guts, he is so traumatized by what happened with Donovan, I think no matter how it happens, his first time will be something he does not want, or rather, cannot conceive of wanting. I think before sleeping with someone he really cares for, Guts can only conceive of sex as this violent, violating, awful thing. Even if Griffith was the one to initiate, Guts would still feel like a monster for reciprocating, for *wanting* it in any capacity. 

But if Griffith offers himself to Guts, offers to be claimed, possessed, bound to him in this intimate way, Guts would be sorely tempted. Not only because he’s Griffith, but because Guts has always felt Griffith is something Other, light itself, perfect and ethereal and forever out of reach. And if, together, they do this thing that Guts thinks is ‘filthy’ and would ‘debase them both’ it would even the playing field between them a bit, and bring Guts closer to who he wants to stand on equal footing beside. 

But also, it isn’t true possession if Griffith is giving it to him; to be his equal, Guts would have to take.

Post-Eclipse Griffguts I see ending up in so many noncon scenarios. I actually had a whole AU in my head where Guts and Casca switch places so she becomes the Black Swordswoman and Guts loses all of his memories (but retains most of his mind because dammit I think post-eclipse Casca still deserved to have a voice but!! I digress) And then I had a WIP about Femto visiting Guts in a dream, looking like the old Griffth, and Guts snaps, and attempts to make him feel the same pain he inflicted on Casca (and hating him for it and loving him still and hating what he did but ultimately just wanting him back even though he can never come back, and Guts can never forgive him anyway but what does forgiveness matter against love? omg I hate them) Oh, and I always love NeoGriffith being reborn, wiping Guts memory and convincing him they’re together and happily married. He finally gets to own Guts, and because of his powers he can keep him from leaving while even keeping him happy, but he’s always reminded of the fact that because he essentially only has this because of his powers, because he gave Guts up, Guts isn’t really his, because Guts didn’t willingly choose him. (also love when the Brand of Sacrifice is utilized during sex because Griffith is a sadist and wants to see Guts bleed for him, knowing there’s nothing Guts can do but offer up his blood, the second most sacred aspect of him. ahhhh okay Freak Rant Over. For Griffguts that is) 

Lawlight is another relationship I see beginning on the premise of dubcon. Light is another character who I don’t see as particularly interested in sex unless he’s close to the person and uses intimacy as both a shield yet an outlet for his feelings. (I always write Light of thinking of sex as something very animalistic, and inherently violent, and somehow, that makes it easier for him to want, or rather, it more easily allows him to understand why he’d want it. Light looks down on intimacy, thinking of it as a vulnerability, a weakness. Something the common man does because he cannot do anything else. However, if he engages in it with someone like L, who is the only person Light thinks of as his equal and therefore superior to everyone else, it becomes something transformative. Yet another way to get under each other’s skin. ) Besides that, he mostly uses it as a tool of manipulation and, post-timeskip, to shut Misa up when she starts asking about marriage😭 So before Light falls for L, and before he accepts he has fallen, he tells himself he is only sleeping with L to weaponize it against him, and *LIght* himself is totally untouched by it. I think it would take a long time for Light to admit he has ‘desires’ that he cannot rationalize as pure desires of a god. (Until he somehow came up with a way to rationalize it…..trying to get the truth out of Light Yagami challenge: impossible.) L, on the other hand, has no such qualms LMAO. He likes sex. He doesn’t have it often because he’s super paranoid and doesn’t leave the house, because he’s so damn busy, and admittedly, he is much more interested in sleeping with someone when he’s been enraptured by their mind first. L for sure utilizes sex as a weapon and uses it to manipulate people as well. I think he would see that aversion to touch yet need to be touched in Light and take advantage of it, without thinking too much about the consequences. At first he would use it as a way to try and break down Light’s walls, and even after that, when he realized he did care about Light, he would still be relentless in trying to break down those walls. They both use sex as a way to try and gain power over the other, so there’s inherently a lot of power play going on in their bedroom👀

Now when it comes to BeyondLaw I really do think their relationship began because of Beyond’s anger and desperation to vent that anger. Teen Beyond as a hurt person who wants to make everyone hurt as badly as him, and the person he deems responsible for it should hurt more than is humanly possible. I hc their first time is absolutely a noncon horror show, with Beyond feeling as if L has taken so much from him, so he should get to take something from L, too. Slowly, that hatred evolves - or not evolves, but rather contorts itself in such a way to make room for - dangerous, disastrous devotion, one-minded obsession, consumption. Beyond realizes one day it is impossible to entirely extricate himself from L, because without L, Beyond’s life is meaningless, yet it is because of L that Beyond cannot exist, because without L, who is he? He both wants L to want him and hate him and be hurt by him. Now, L never really felt anything for Beyond besides passing fascination - maybe as a child he secretly liked being around Beyond because it made him feel less lonely :’) - but after their first time L loathes him, because while it isn’t the first time he’s been powerless in his life, this is the first time in a long time he is shown that no matter how much power he acquires, it can be taken away from him at any time. But later on, L realizes the reason Beyond did that too him was because it was the only power Beyond could have over him; which means Beyond *needs* him in order to have any power at all. (L’s rationalizations are just as fucked up as Light’s in a diff way LOL) and so L continues this toxic, tearing cycle with him, always the role of the ‘victim,’ the one who doesn’t want it, who is above wanting it, who is so untouched by Beyond that even this means nothing to him. 

considering Levi’s childhood trauma, I can’t see him doing anything like that to Eren. neither can I see Eren crossing that line. Eren pushes the people he loves away; he forces them to do things they don’t want to do, yes, and he’s capable of hurting those he loves so that they will want to stay away from him, but I don’t see that extending to rape. I don’t think Eren is actually all that interested in sex, more so the subspace/intimacy of it all. He likes Levi telling him what to do, being in control of him, being close to him, taking care of him - he’d never admit it - which seems antithetical to his whole character, but because he trusts Levi, he would allow himself to slip into that place of vulnerability and I guess you could say, feel free enough to get out of his head for awhile and let someone else take over. 

(I realized this whole analysis is of their characters in my longfic LOL I personally would say this is canon but, you know)

however! I can see a dubcon situation from both sides.

I’ll just make it general; this could theoretically happen in canon after Eren comes back….it really only works if he and Levi had a relationship before his desertion but I guess it also being their first time could make for a super angsty whump? Whether or not Eren knows the specifics of Levi’s childhood, to a degree he knows Levi well enough to know it’s something that would hurt him. If he feels Levi is too insistent on uncovering the truth, and sees none of his usual methods are succeeding in pushing him away…he’d amp it up. In this scenario if Eren was aware Levi had feelings for him, that’s what he would target. He’d try and seduce Levi and then play the victim afterwards. He would goad Levi into doing it ‘if you’ve thought about me like that even once, you’ve already crossed that line’ ‘this is the only way left you can have me.’ Just vile stuff. Eren finally pushes Levi far enough that he snaps, which Levi would never do, but only Eren could push him to that point. So it’s dubcon in the sense that they want each other, but not like this, but they can’t have each other any other way. and after that’s when Eren makes it seem like he was ‘taken advantage of.’ I think it would be really hard to get Levi to do it unless Eren at first posited it as consensual with just enough ambiguity to make it seem like noncon after the fact)

I can see Eren using sex as self-harm. I can definitely see Eren being into CNC (in a healthier AU just because he thinks it’s hot Levi is strong enough to take him with or without his consent, if he wanted to) but in the context of canon this rough, hateful, self-destructive union is punishment, his penance, and it would succeed in pushing Levi away. (also, it’s like, this would be Eren getting what he wants in a way he doesn’t want it, but he wants it enough to still have it, which is the only way he ever gets what he wants.)

I also wrote a scene in the original version of my longfic where Levi & Eren are in the middle of a fight and end up hatefucking halfway through, and it’s very animalistic, half fight, half fucking, y’know? Levi is just so pissed at him (and heartbroken) and almost past the point of sanity. he’s demanding ‘tell me the truth’ while Eren, who’s super overstimulated, is refusing/trying to get him to stop (even though he doesn’t *really* want Levi to stop, he just doesn’t want to slip up and say something he can’t take back, hence dubcon)

and there are two ways you can take these scenarios: maybe Eren’s in heat and neither of them are thinking straight, maybe Eren uses that as an excuse and is just whining and begging and in abject agony for Levi (who is the strongest….but still only a man) or it’s not ABO & Eren is just being very manipulative and a part of Levi knows that, but another part of him doesn’t care and just wants Eren, the real Eren, whatever way he can have him.

I’m very into ‘sex being an expression of love when everything else is absent’ or ‘sex being the only time they’re truthful with each other’ 

(bonus: I can also see 15 year old Eren being into CNC because even in his fantasies Levi would never want him like that so in his head he reframes it as ‘punishment’ and also Eren thinks he shouldn’t want it, so the only way he can have it is if he doesn’t want it. do NOT look at Eren Jaeger’s browser history it is not a safe place) and Levi….I can’t see him being into CNC or any of that to be honest, but if Eren wanted him to role-play, he probably would. (like as long as he knew it was consensual, he probably would get off on Eren ‘not being able to get away’ (leaving him) and Eren’s (willing) submission)
