I'm a twin
I'm a twin
Finding out AI companies are chewing through - literally, theyâre pulping and burning them as they go - millions of books often including 1/1s and old texts that cannot be reprinted
Meanwhile thereâs always some dipshit telling me AI is the future and weâve got to just let companies erase human history and literature so they can train their abomination machines to pretend to think like people because a judge said itâs fine
AI companies are buying and scanning printed books for training data, raising copyright and cultural preservation concerns as rare volumes a
what. the ACTUAL FUCK THIS IS A DYSTOPIA SOMEBODY WAKE ME UP
if u are still an active ai user. pls get off my blog
men make it absolutely impossible to practice humility
what you say: âI think this is the caseâ
what men hear: âI have no idea whatsoever, but hereâs a totally random guessâ
what you say: âIâm not an expert on this subjectâ
what men hear: âI donât know anything about this subject and need its bare fundamentals explained to meâ
what you say: âI could be better read in this areaâ
what men hear: âI have never read anything in this areaâ
like okay fuck it nevermind Iâm actually an expert in every subject Iâve ever read or heard about. in fact I know everything.
If anyone's ever wondering why I come across as such an arrogant bitch on Tumblr it's because I used to work in science with a lot of men and never readjusted my communication style afterward.
This is one of my biggest seemingly low-stakes feminist soapboxes. Women are often encouraged to take hedging, consensus-seeking, and checking-in phrases out of their speech in order to seem "more confident". And listen, of course you do not need to say "I think" when you actually know for pretty damn sure, or double-check every little thing you say, or apologize for things that are out of your control.
But there are men in my life who I respect, who I think are generally good communicators, but who have admitted to me that if they do not know the answer to something they will just state their best guess in a confident tone of voice, with no hedging or clarification to warn the listener that what they just said was pulled from their ass.
I once asked my high school boyfriend what noise a platypus makes and he confidently told me "oh they quack" and I said "really? that seems like they'd have different noise-making structures than ducks since they're not birds" and he said "oh yeah you're probably right. I was just guessing." And had no idea why I was mad! I was like, so if I ask you a question you might just bullshit me?? What if I had believed you and gone and repeated that to other people? I could have looked like an idiot. I could have spread misinformation to a ton of people! But I have told that story to other men and had them say "oh yeah I totally do that."
This is so much worse communication than just saying "I don't know but I think..." There shouldn't be campaigns training professional women to sound "more confident," there should be campaigns training professional MEN to stop doing whatever THAT is!
[ID: Chidi Anagonye from The Good Place saying âokay, but thatâs worse. You do see how thatâs worse, right?â End ID.]
um actually there's nothing wrong with letting cats be outdoor pets. your cat is depressed locked inside forever. it's animal abuse. let it outside. more cats should be let outside more often. especially overnight.

I think about this cake every day
sorry for exposing your tags but this is hilarious
OP, I hope you donât mind me making an addition:
When I turned 17, we ordered a cake at the grocery store for my party, as weâd done many times before. If you wanted something written on the cake youâd write it into a section of the order form. We requested, very simply, âHappy Birthday Courtneyâ. When we went to pick it up the day of the party, this is what we got.
The bakery employees had absolutely no explanation for this. The order form, attached to the box, very clearly did not contain any of those extra names. Whomever had done the writing was no longer in, so there was no one to ask how this had happened. The fact that the name âJuanâ is misspelled bewilders me to this day. (Iâve never seen âMileyâ without the E, either, but itâs believable that someone might spell it that way.) Did this cake slip in from an alternate universe where Iâm one quarter of a set of Hispanic quadruplets? Dyslexic Hispanic quadruplets, maybe?
This cake became the focal point of my party. At least two of my friends regularly called me âCourtney Mily Jaun Pabloâ for years to come. My siblings and I still reference it sometimes, eleven years later. It is probably the funniest thing ever to occur at any birthday celebration of my life, and may well remain so for the rest of my days.
I love a botched cake.
one time me and some pals spotted one of those big cookie cakes in a store. it was done up with red icing and little X's for kisses and in the middle it said
No One Like You
now, it took us a while to realise it meant "(there is) no one like you". at first, we all parsed it as a botched "no one like(s) you"
for ages after when we'd wind each other up we'd declare "NO ONE LIKE YOU âšď¸đ"
I just feel like it's important to post the Sacred Texts
need to beam this tweet directly into everyone's minds right now
brain grace,,, grain
Since Rocky and Grace have access to a ton of video games on the Hail Mary, I figured eventually they'd play Just Dance during their trip to Erid
I disagree that periods *arenât* gross, but theyâre also no more gross than other bodily fluids and waste like urine, feces and vomit. Sometimes life is gross and thatâs nothing to be ashamed of. If you treat periods any differently from the above then thatâs a problem and a double standard.
some people have responded to this saying âperiod blood is as sanitary as venous bloodâ which, yes is true, but you still wouldnât want to sit in it on the bus or something, ESPECIALLY since blood-borne illnesses could still be transferred this way. Also, same with urine, while it is âsterileâ inside of your body, the openings of your body are not! Once it leaves your body it has already been contaminated by the germs and bacteria around your genitals. The whole point is that, bodies are kinda gross, and thatâs ok. Having an accident or a bleed-through happens and itâs nothing to be ashamed of, but it also isnât a pleasant experience for anyone involved and thats! okay!
The moment period blood becomes this âsacred, holy substanceâ, thatâs when you get into misogynist, new-age trad bullshit thatâs usually also ableist and transphobic.
Period blood is just blood. If someone next to you on the subway started bleeding, sure, you might get squeamish, but youâd want to help them right? Same with a bleed-through.
Itâs okay to be concerned about the hygiene of period blood, because after all, itâs bodily fluids. Itâs just not okay to treat people who menstruate like theyâre dirty or shameful. You wouldnât treat someone with a nosebleed like that, right?
JustâŚ.stop treating period blood like itâs different, whether itâs treating it like itâs shameful or sacred. Both stigmatize menstruation and lead to harm.

I really can and will blame the 9-5 for everything. "We're in a loneliness epidemic" well, we have to spend a third of our day interacting with people in a professional way that makes forming real friendships difficult and then we're peopled out by the time we're done. "People are eating more and more unhealthily" people have to spend more than a third of their day doing work related tasks and they don't want to spend their tiny amount of free time making food. "People aren't involved in their local communities" after spending more than a third of their day doing work related things people are tired and also all those community events take place during normal working hours. "People need to get more hobbies" after spending more than a third of their day working, people are TIRED and don't want to do anything that takes yet more energy. "Literacy is dying" to maintain your critical thinking skills you need to read/watch things that make you think and after spending more than a third of your day doing work related stuff you are TIRED and don't want to expend even more brainnpower. "People need to get outside more" People. Are. TIRED. Because they have to spend all of their time working or preparing for work or recovering from work or doing all the chores they couldn't stay on top of because of work. I can blame fucking anything on having to work, it is truly the root of all fucking evil.
âThis story is so gay!â
âIs it gay or is it misogynistic?â
They donât understand.
I explain that often times women and girls are excluded from stories in favor of a predominantly male cast because the author doesnât value female narrative contributions nor considers them worthy of character development in their own rights independent of the men, so the result isnât uplifting male relationships with romantic intentions, but simply sexist writing in its most basic form.
They assure me itâs a good story.
Look inside.
Itâs misogynistic.
