Quick Post of Official Charities
Don't want to donate to a fundraiser because you're wary but still want to help? Fair, you got a good head on your shoulders. Here's four charities that have been around quite a while to donate to. As with anything, only give what you can afford to lose because you won't see that money again either way. Do Not Give if You Can't Afford It. You can't pour from an empty cup, and people will understand if you need that water for your own survival. Always check out refund policies or offer a small amount if you're ever uncertain. Every little bit helps, and there's always people who can offer if you can't. And if you really aren't sure, double check my checking.
The Palestine Red Crescent Society was officially established in 1964 and recognized in 1969. They specialize in providing aid to Palestine which is why I've put them here first. They specifically provide humanitarian assistance, healthcare, and social services to Palestinians. They have also been assaulted in Israel's attacks, so they could use the help.
United Palestinian Appeal, from what I can tell, began work in 1985 by providing emergency relief. They've been present in Gaza for over 45 years, and were one of the first responders when the assault began. Presently, they provide hot meals, fresh and shelf stable food parcels, drinking water, healthcare supplies, support, and services, mental health support, hygiene kits, clothing, and sleeping bags. Another good choice if you want a well established organization with a wide range of aid to offer.
Islamic Relief USA was established 1993, and is presently providing both emergency relief and helping to implement plans for rebuilding Palestine. Specifically, according to their website, they provide:
Food aid
Access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene
Access to healthcare including psycho-social support and awareness for children and adults
Access to education and support for orphans and children with disabilities
Sustainable livelihood support including youth entrepreneurship and women empowerment efforts
Emergency aid for families in Gaza
Winter aid
Good option if you want to help a wide spread of issues.
The Middle East Children's Alliance has been working since 1988 to support families and kids in Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon. Presently, they and their partner organizations are providing food and hygiene kits, hot meals (with World Central Kitchen), clean drinking water, psycho-social support for children, medicine, nutritional aid, and more. Another good option for a wide spread of issues, with an emphasis on families and children.
I haven't added any links, but these organizations are pretty easy to find. Feel free to add more!
