i get why people are uncomfortable about reading flowery as both an asriel parallel and a rudy parallel at the same time, but the thing is, both parallels ARE straight up there - he quite blatantly introduces himself as "asgore's best friend and college roommate" (and who do we know that fits that description) + him being "perfect" calls to mind asriel being "the perfect child". i know we love our funny "flowery is trying to fuck our dad" jokes but i do think that the jokes are becoming rather reductive when it comes to understanding flowery's relationship with asgore - all of the similarities that flowery shares with rudy and asriel (and arguably kris and toriel as well) implies to me that flowery was trying to be Everything to asgore by trying to be like the people he knows asgore loves, which does include trying to be a son-figure, a friend, and possibly even a lover all at once. and it makes complete sense to me that a flower might not understand the nuances between those relationships (which in turn could be a contributing factor to asgore finding his affections off-putting)
