The comment on the post that says “the ONLY reason a trans man would play on a woman’s team is to take any opportunity a trans woman could have had to play” particularly irks me bc it shows just how little trans men are thought of as complete people with thoughts and goals of our own by these circles. We are thought of as cis women light when it comes to our connection to gender, and we’re treated as though our inner world is so shallow that threatening us with detransition (or the inability to start to transition) is seen as trivial compared to when it happens to trans women. For trans men, apparently, being forced by oppressive regulations to detransition/delay transition at great mental and physical cost, and then repeatedly subjecting ones self to dysphoria by the only option to do the thing that brings you joy hinging on being constantly misgendered….. is a “privilege that comes with being a man” and a “blatant attempt to take opportunities from women.” There have been trans women who have competed as athletes on men’s teams, are they taking away spots that could have gone to trans men? To go around saying that would be completely out of touch with reality, and yet that comment is supported by the op saying “if he had a spine and showed solidarity with other trans people he’d refuse to play in protest.” Losing another trans person in sports due to regulations and pressure directly manufactured to keep trans people OUT OF sports is never a win unless you consider trans men’s lives so meaningless that whether or not they get to be happy and pursue their passions is totally inconsequential.
