kinda wanna make a Hotel California vibe type of verse for John where he's a traveler and stops by this hotel only to discover it's haunted and cursed to where he can't ever leave and is just stuck in this perpetual time loop and has to find a way to get out of it

and the 'ghosts' haunting it are just other people who got trapped in the hotel and are trying to warn potential visitors to get out, but john, being a White Man(tm) ignores the warning signs

and the h(m)otel is located at a crossroads where a deal with a demon was made by the owner after killing someone in it where he wanted more business. and the demon granted it; in exchange he would take the souls of the victims he killed, effectively trapping them in the motel.

you may be thinking "wait, rowan, how did john get trapped if he didnt get killed?" well. it's because he had a bounty on his soul, coincidentally by the very demon the motel owner who had made the deal in the first place. and while the demon can't exactly get its hands on his soul, there's still a loophole that allows it to keep him imprisoned until/if john gives it up. and at that point, once it's taken, john dies and is immediately dragged to hell. as if he'd let that happen.

theres this fine line with john constantine's bisexuality where its not a big deal but also you can't forget it. not only in a sense of "dont erase his queerness" but also in the sense of the context his character originated in, his background, the political messaging hellblazer's always contained. like, i want his bisexuality to treated like a normal thing, because It Is, and queer people are not solely defined by their queerness, but also i need people to understand john constantine does not just have sex with whoever he wants without thinking about it. he knows he's bisexual. he had the gay earring during the AIDS epidemic. do you know what im saying?
