Recently, the melanin beam challenge has been trending and I was wondering, have you ever considered re-imagining John Constantine as from another race? Being british is obviously a huge part of his character but the UK is big on immigration and with Noah being black himself, it wouldn't be so insane to consider, right? But then, I guess it would add another dimension/level of struggle to all John goes through... I don't know. I was just thinking ahah!

But I really love love love what you did with Nanaue for example, and the care you put in explaining your though process behind your choices. And of course, again, your art's incredible! I was just wondering ahah. Because I was looking at John fanart and he is, mostly kept as a white, blond, blue eyed man. There's not much altering those aspects. I'd love your thoughts on subject!

Oh absolutely! I am a strong supporter of South Asian John Constantine because I think reimagining him that way basically strengthens every existing theme he has and more. For fun and because I couldn't resist, here's Yohan Constantine.

I imagine him as Indian British and would cast Dev Patel himself or a Patel-type to play as him. You've got themes of British colonization, xenophobia, and racism that Yohan can directly tackle and criticize, plus the perception of Asian men as feminine compared to white men (something canon John struggles with as a described "pretty boy" and unmanly). Imagine maybe even going into some of his white women love interests fetishizing him. Queer South Asian culture is rich and ripe for Hellblazer commentary. Depending on what faith Yohan grew up with, perhaps that acts as commentary when facing against the mostly Christian/ Catholic occult culture of Hellblazer.

This would also mean Noah Ikumelo would become BLASIAN and I support the BLASIAN INVASION of course.
