I haven’t walked in the estate for over a week. Today I got up and walked. Today is also seven months since #Ouma’s heart stopped beating and my heart changed. I have a bench I sit on and chat to her. Usually I do it at the beginning of my walk, but today I did it on my way back. This is my view when I talk to her, and this is what the sun was doing while I talked to her today. See the little orb? #steameducation Building and creating! #treydon has always loved to “tinker”. At 18 months old we bought him his own tools - real tools… This Christmas we bought a whole stack of robotics kits. And #Talin got this bubble machine to build - we figured Treydon could help him build it. They built it today. It’s great - they got to tinker with the tools, learnt about circuits and how to put batteries in, following instructions, testing the build and then playing!!!! For some reason Treydon felt he needed to eat the bubbles and we had a slo-mo collision. 01/02/2023 - I did a thing! It’s been a long time since I bought a car just for me… Family responsibilities and adulting have influenced the decision for a while. I have only ever worn or embraced one car brand - it’s also the only car brand that makes me smile and lol when I drive it. And while I have grown up and bought the “grown up” version this time, I bought the fast version too! I sit behind the wheel and it feels like I have come home. Welcome to our family ICANDI. Your presence makes me smile, laugh and cry. #ouma - LOOK! Your favourite car is back. When I bought my first Mini, and other people told me it was a silly decision, you loved it and told me they were speaking “piffle”. You also told me I drive too fast (while anchoring your feet into the floor and hanging onto the grab handle) and I still maintain - it’s not fast, it’s just because we were close to the ground. @mini - my brand always. The skies of waterfall showing off again! Yesterday my plan was to@go@for an early morning run - 5:15. Loadshedding and the mosquitos had me up from 3:30am. I’m finally doing it - I’m watching the Marvel movies - I was advised to watch them in phases based on their release date, rather than in order. Three movies in and only halfway through Thor, I wonder if Loki is actually bad, or if he is just misunderstood? I also wonder if I had watched this in my naive and idealist youth, I would even ask this question or just see his “badness”? I’m at that point in this book where it’s close to the end but I’m reading VERY slowly because I don’t want it to end! @angelalduckworth - thank you for this book, the research and your contribution to society! GRIT has had an immense impact in my life. I have so many ideas swirling around in my head and I have answers to many of the questions I have been asking about myself over the course of the last few years. As an added bonus, I have more positive ways of parenting. Here’s to becoming gritty again in 2023. Here’s to the achievement of my low levels goals on the way to living my life philosophy.
