HMMM this makes sense. So httyd school is an attempt at getting a new generation of kids who have watched the live action movies into reading, whilst also being the set up for Book 13 and Camicazi's arc. Key pieces of information about her upcoming arc are dropped into this spin-off series because her arc wouldn't be as satisfying as the other characters' since there weren't hints or foreshadowing to it in the main series. Thereby httyd school is for both new readers and old fans alike

I want to know the science behind every fic ever calling Camicazi 'Cami' like 1) where did this come from and 2) why is it not Cazi

It's a very common shortened/affectionate nickname in the fandom, and some people see and use it so much they forget it's not canon. Actually, I have a very faint memory of it being used exactly once in Book 11, but I think its a false memory. I am in the middle of rereading the books so I'll tell you if it actually happens (doubt it). It's probably not Cazi because Cazi on its own is harder to say than Cami I find. I prefer to just call her Camicazi myself.
