it really just becomes more fantasy the more sides there are. a cube will be some sort of ultraprocessor that makes faster than light travel possible, but an octahedron? that can't be a processor, it's not square enough. an octahedron will float in between two beams of light and glow mysterious sigils, its function is like the cube but more magical because it's not bound by squareness.
