You know those AUs where Billy adopts Conner or Kon-El (whichever you prefer to call him, Iâll go with Kon), and well, Billy becomes a great dad? Letâs implement that. Because he spends so much time with Kon, combined with his interactions with other kids, Billy Batson can't really interact like a normal teenager anymore. Instead, he treats people his own age like they are much younger than him. Add to that the fact that he is shamelessly helpful, and well, heâs definitely not ugly either.
So imagine this: when an 18-year-old Billy finally reveals his identityâand after the whole "we had a literal child fighting Darkseid" realization blows overâit becomes normal for them to hang out as civilians. Billy is this incredibly attractive mini-adult who completely misreads dating signals or flirting. He either completely overlooks it or literally rejects people with a "Thanks, kid," while ruffling their hair or giving them a paternal look.
Hal, Barry, and Billy are out walking through one of their cities, and for cosmic reasons, they end up at a diner. The waitress, who is around Billy's age, starts batting her eyelashes at him. This immediately worries Billy because "her eyes might be dry, it's not normal to blink that much."
The afternoon goes on, and Billy notices she looks very flushed whenever she speaks to their table. He concludes that "she must be feeling sick, she should take a break, there are plenty of other servers who can cover for her." He doesn't want to point it out out loud because she might feel embarrassed or really need the money.
They keep eating, and oh no, she just brought a dish that isn't for their table. "She must be getting worse." He blinks and locks eyes with Hal and Barry, who are eating as if they hadn't just seen the waitress drop off the plate and bolt. He looks around for her and spots her with her forehead pressed against the wall, with a couple of other servers whispering to her. He feels bad for bothering her when she's feeling under the weather, but he really didn't order the pecan pie. He calls the poor waitress over and explains the situation.
She looks nervous and suggests he just keep the slice. But god, this man is so kind, handsome, and respectful, and OH MY GOD, allergic to nuts (for the sake of the plot, Billy is mortally allergic to nuts).
Billy locks eyes with Hal and Barry, who are looking at the woman with pure pity. They must have noticed she feels sick, too.
They finish paying the bill, and Billy leaves almost the total amount of the check as a tip. Before they leave, she approaches him with a notepad and a pen. Without saying a word, she hands it to Billy. That smile of his should be illegal; she averts her eyes.
Billy writes down the address and number of a kind doctor located near the diner. He hands it back and explains that the clinic will take good care of her. He emphasizes that working while sick shows great perseverance, but adds a gentle reminder to take care of her health. Following the girl's completely stunned stare, he smiles again, thanks her for her attentive service, and gives her a reassuring pat on the shoulder as a goodbye.
For some reason, Hal and Barry look absolutely disturbed, as if they've just witnessed a mystical revelation.
