as much as i poke fun at โtumblr prose,โ i will acknowledge that sometimes when youโre writing and youโre really in the groove, youโre really feeling yourself, youโre on your capital-a Author shit, and you write a line that makes you go, โoh yeah, this is the Good Shit. this is so Subtle and Says So Much. this is Characterization. this is Themes and Motifs. you could write a whole essay about this one line. the master of the craft strikes again!โ and then a month or whatever later when youโre editing you read over it again with post-write clarity and you realize you wrote some real โpeople die when theyโre killedโ bullshit

people who donโt watch horror movies are SO confident that they know everything there is to know about the genre. like itโs okay to not know things. itโs okay if you donโt like friday the 13th or whatever. i promise you donโt need to make an ass out of yourself on the internet about it
horror is an incredibly diverse genre, because there is potential horror in everything. itโs in nature, itโs in architecture and technology, itโs in human relationships, itโs in folklore, the past, the future, the mundane. there are horror movies from all over the world. it is straight up anti-intellectual to pretend that the handful of B slashers youโve vaguely heard about comprise the totality of what horror has to offer.ย If youโre just not interested in horror, or if you dislike certain subgenres of horror, then thatโs fine, youโre not obligated to like anything at all. but smugly announcing that you donโt like horror because you dislike a handful of VERY specific non-universal tropes is just as stupid as saying that you hate comedy because you donโt like adam sandler movies.

I really like the idea of Jon wanting to do all these stupid social media couples trends with Damian once they start dating, but as Robin and Superboy rather than Damian and Jon. (Not for any real reason except he thinks it would be funnier for Damian to be doing these stupid, sappy trends in his full Robin getup.)
Damian, of course, argues against it. He says itโs too risky for people to know their superhero identities are together because someone could use it against them. He also thinks that someone could connect Robin and Superboy dating to Jon and Damian dating and then figure out their secret identities.
Jon shoots this down because people already know that Robin and Superboy are friends and use it against them, so that wouldnโt change. Also, they know plenty of people who are publicly dating as both their superhero and civilian identities and no one has figured any of them out yet.
(Also also, Damian and Jon have a bad habit of making out while on patrol together- usually Jonโs fault- so itโs really only a matter of time before someone sees.)
Jon keeps bringing up these points and pestering Damian until he finally agrees. Jon makes them film all these stupid TikTokโs, and Damian acts all bothered, but he actually starts to like it. Cue Damian filming without Jon knowing and purposely doing things in them that annoy Jon just to ragebait him.
His first video is titled โseeing how loud I have to say my boyfriendโs name before he shows up.โ All Damian has to do is whisper and Jonโs there, super worried because why would Damian have to whisper unless he canโt speak freely for some reason? The internet loses their shit over it since the video makes it obvious that Jon is always listening for Damian and is very protective over him.
He has another one called โhow long will it take my boyfriend to use his x-ray vision on me if I pretend to be hurt?โ Damian sets up the camera and then fakes a slight limp when Jon shows up for patrol. Jonโs eyes immediately get unfocused and a second later heโs asking why Damianโs limping if nothingโs broken? Damian laughs and looks at the camera, which Jon then notices, and he starts yelling because โthatโs not funny, D, I thought you were hurt!โ
His most popular video is actually a series of videos where he just throws himself off of things and times how long it takes Jon to catch him. Sometimes Jonโs already with him, sometimes heโs not. Sometimes Damian calls for Jon, sometimes he doesnโt. No matter what, Jon always shows up and catches him in record time. The internet absolutely adores them.
(And donโt worry, Jon gets back at him by making his own series- โhow many times can I pick up my boyfriend before he threatens to murder me?โ. Which is just a bunch of clips of Jon throwing Damian over his shoulder or lifting him by the back of his uniform and Damian trying to kick him while demanding to be put down.)
