I took two semesters of Chinese history in college. The first thing the professor started with was “getting to know the rivers, Yangtze and the Yellow Rivers. You need to know them because they will play very important roles in the history of China. The Yangtze has been crucial to trade, movement, culture and more. The Yellow river, the Yellow River can’t be trusted as you will repeatedly see.”

I don't have some concrete proof of it, just a thing that people say sometimes... But if it's true that Games Workshop had for a while this notion that they DIDN'T want people buying kits from range A to play the models in game B, because it made their accounting harder... Then that's totally insane, and goes way beyond regular GW strangeness.

You should already be crying out at your screen: Synergy! It's called synergy, and every half-competent businessperson should, if not be pursuing it, at least reveling when it happens naturally! It's really obvious why it's good to have that crossover, to have your kits sell to a larger fraction of your playerbase, and to give players an in for your other games!

One of the root problems of our society is a refusal or inability by media to articulate that all those “it’s gonna be an apocalypse” disasters were not disasters because we collectively did something about them.

The good news is this is actually quite correctable. I maintain my firm belief that we as humans are capable of solving almost all of our problems, when we decide to do so.

And I still think that’s going to happen. I don’t know when or how, but I do know that abandoning hope won’t help bring it about.

And I refuse to let the cynics own a chunk of my heart.
