what if the madwoman in the attic just worked night shifts remotely and that's why she's scrabbling around at weird hours. like she's still a madwoman tbc, just in an agoraphobic-but-otherwise-functional kinda way, not in an unending-psychosis kinda way. also it's just platonic between her and mr. rochester so really there's no reason *not* to hook up with mr rochester. like those two definitely have Something going on and it's probably somehow both weirder and more intimate than sex!!! but it's NOT sex, that lane's wide open for ya. i mean this all kinda makes you the third wheel when you think about it a certain way and maybe you're less-than-pleased about that, but like. mr rochester, amirite. me-ow.
