Introverted Sensing (Si) “For eighteen years, it stays the same, for eighteen years I’m proud I came!” Francesca is almost always looking to the past to guide her onwards, relying on tradition, habits, and everything she has gone through in the past. When she first arrives in America she must reconfigure all of her habits and learn a new routine to go through. Until Robert comes along, it seems as if she is content with sticking to all she has done before. Perhaps the greatest example of how she sticks to her past is how she ends up staying with her family - she loves Robert, but she cannot give up her family and the life she has built up over the past eighteen years.

Extraverted Feeling (Fe) “But what we did is that we loved, and love is always better.” Francesca tends to display her emotions and look to the rest of the world to understand how to feel. She is extremely protective and caring for her family, always acting as the one who dissipates problems among them. She always tries to work towards harmony with herself and those around her. During her time with Robert she ends up releasing the emotions she’s held up inside of her for so long. She forms a connection with Robert that she is passionate about, showing a depth of emotion she has inside of her.

Introverted Thinking (Ti) “What do you call a man like that?” Francesca mostly makes her decisions based off of her emotions, but she can also show a logical side to what she does. She doesn’t always trust what everyone else tells her is true, choosing not to follow Chiara’s warning and instead sticking to her own beliefs. She adjusts the world around her to make sense to her, never quite able to find a name for the emotions Robert evokes in her (“What Do You Call A Man Like That?” and “Falling into You”) and instead just letting it remain as an idea in her mind.

a loyal and empathetic sign, cancers make amazing companions and caregivers. francesca is the glue that holds her family together. from petty fights about the ‘lucky shirt’ to her son attempting to run away, she is the peace-maker and the loving spirit in her family’s life. most cancarians are moody and insecure. francesca’s emotions fly from every end of the spectrum on her four-day journey with robert kincaid. she can be elated one minute and crumpled on the floor the next. and although a beautiful woman, francesca still feels unsure that her physical body has somethine left to give before giving in to her feelings for robert (her examination of herself when stepping outo f the bathtub). lots of cancers are drawn to artistic and creative hobbies (francesca studied art in school and is an excellent cook). 

“and i dreamed of a flat in Siena on the market square, with a book and a pot and a window and a single chair. far from lonesome, far from Chiara, almost real.”  

typically, cancers do not yearn for bright lights and world-wide recognition. they want to love and be loved. their internal mysteries and fleeting emotional patterns are sometimes hard for the sensitive cancer to control. and when they do love, they love deeply. francesca forms a life-changing bond with robert in four days. however, nothing can come between her love for her family and the recognition that they need her (”i can’t leave without seeing them first”/”i’m afraid the guilt of knowing how i hurt them would turn me into someone you couldn’t love at all”).

Project Broadway, Week One (Tony Awards Week) 

I have three different versions of this song (Williamstown Previews, Broadway before it was cut and Benanti’s Subculture) and all are slightly different, but considering the Broadway/Benanti ones came after, I assume they’re what JRB considers final. So here’s what I believe the lyrics are from those and I’ve added the Williamstown differences in brackets for you. There may be some errors - feel free to correct me!
