Directed by James Wan (Insidious, Insidious 2, The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2, Furious 7 and Saw) the film stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Willem Dafoe, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Temuera Morrison and Nicole Kidman. It’s the sixth film in the DC Extended Universe. The plot goes, King Orm (Aquaman's half brother) wants the rule the surface world but Aquaman stands in his way. However in order to fight his brother he needs to get the legendary trident and unit the kingdoms together and become the rightful heir to the throne.

Aquaman is how can I say a dopey movie and really dumb. But still has a charm to it, so let me tell you the positives and I’ll explain the dopey parts later. Positives the movie looks good all the sfxs are amazing, the cinematography is colorful and the costumes are so bonkers, literally comic booky. All of the underwater sequences are great they look amazing all of the fishes and sea life are awesome and all of the battles are great too. Now for acting I think Jason Momoa does a good job as Aquaman at least for me. I think he was charming and tough when he needed to be and I like how one decision he makes in the beginning of the movie changes his perspective on the final fight. Amber Heard I think is fine, I think she is better in other movies but not sure because I haven’t seen all of her films but not bad. Patrick Wilson, oh boy he so over the top sometimes, not all of the time. He gets a few scenes to actual have a character. Willem Dafoe is good he plays the mentor figure, he did a fine job and Dolph Lundgren also does a really good job. I have to say is nice seeing Dolph Lundgren in good movies and actually acting.

Nicole Kidman and Temuera Morrison did a good job playing as Aquaman’s parents, I believed they actually loved each other and was hoping they get back together. Also I really like the story involving Aquaman. The story that revolves around Aquaman being king is up and down. This is where the negatives come in. The story is average basically following the King Arthur story which they reference in the film and for the most part is done well, but the script and the dialogue is sometimes bad. I don’t know what exactly James Wan was thinking with this because he is so much better than this. It feels like three movies in one. He really needed to focus more on characters to make this movie better.  Maybe he felt that he needed to make Aquaman not lame, but cramming in so much stuff is not the way to do it.

If they had just focused on the one of the plots like how Oceanmaster want to bring the war to the surface world and then you could have Aquaman tried to convince his half brother not to do this that not everyone in the surface world is awful. They kind of do it but it’s to brief. Which kind of sucks because in one scene Oceanmaster tells his half brother Aquaman that he doesn’t want to do this and it shows that he does care for his brother despite having different fathers and come from different worlds. But they skimmed through that quick and don’t bring up until the end of the film kinda. Then we have Amber Heard who is alright, I don’t think she awful like some people are saying but the relationship between her and Aquaman is OK. Their relationship needed to be better written. Then we have Black Manta who feels a bit shoehorned in here, he should’ve be in the beginning of the film to set him up for the next one because he didn’t need to be in it that much. Then the tone is also the problem, it gets pretty silly and gets over the top. But then sometimes it gets serious like the tone of Wonder Woman, which is pretty jarring.

However despite the weird tone, the acting, the dialogue and the goofy costumes I like it, I had blast watching it. Is it perfect, no but it’s a good time to watch at the movies, especially after Batman V. Superman and Justice League I really needed something fun again. It doesn’t rise to the level of Wonder Woman, which had better characters and better narrative structure but this was still good and I would recommend it. Just make sure you know what your getting into before you watch and if you didn’t like it, I understand this won’t be for everyone, but it worked for me. Just give it shot you might be surprised. Oh and I do feel that kids are going to love this because the action and special effects are really good. Also not a whole lot of language and Aquaman is cool now. But he was always cool too me.

The Last Jedi is the ninth film in the Star Wars series and the sequel to The Force Awakens and is Directed by Rian Johnson (Looper, Brick) it stars Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Carrie Fisher, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie. The story is Luke Skywalker's peaceful and solitary existence gets upended when he encounters Rey, a young woman who shows strong signs of the Force. Her desire to learn the ways of the Jedi forces Luke to make a decision that changes their lives forever. Meanwhile, Kylo Ren and General Hux lead the First Order in an all-out assault against Leia and the Resistance for supremacy of the galaxy.

This film is getting a lot of controversy, in one in hand fans are loving this and others are hating this. Reading and watching a lot of those reviews I can understand why.I want to talk about the best part of the film. The best parts of the film has to do with everything with Rey, Kylo and Luke. That entire storyline which is the main focus is absolutely fantastic, the reason is the character of Luke is great because it’s different from what you think the character was going to be. Everyone thought he was going to be another Obi-Wan, Yoda or the way he was in the Expanded Universe. However making Luke a grumpy man who doesn’t want anything to do with Rey, the force or the jedi. The fact that he has lost his way and belief because of what happen with Kylo is great storytelling. Also the way they shot the flashbacks with Luke and Ben in the hut and the way they showed what happen and the different perspectives on the people telling it, which makes Rey and the audience think what was happening and who’s telling the truth and felt reminiscent of Akira Kurosawa's film Rashomon. Which has different perspectives on what happen in the story and makes the audience think about who is telling the truth and who’s lying.

I loved that, it was something new and different from what Star Wars usually does and I do like Rey and Luke’s dynamic with each other. Rey’s reaction to the way Luke is the way the audience feels about Luke. She wants Luke to come back and help them. Also Rey trying to find some kind of closure to who her parents are and where she belongs in the force and wants Luke to be her mentor. Everything here is on point and I feel this is where the screenplay shines. But not only the screenplay but the acting is fantastic here. Mark Hamill as Luke a character he hasn’t played since Jedi is really good here. I Love the fact that Luke was really grumpy and didn’t care, then we find out why in flashbacks and the way Mark Hamill acts in those scenes are so powerful. He is really good and I’m glad he came back. Then when we get to the end, I know a lot of people were kinda disappointed when he came back. But I feel it did show Luke’s full power and finish his character arc in this movie and finishes his storyline completely, giving a nice finale to his story.

Daisy Ridley is really good in this and is proving she is an actress to lookout for, she is not as charismatic as she was in the first one but her role in this movie doesn’t call for that. She is more serious and dramatic. I liked her is this film, she unsure of herself and where she belongs in the universe. She looking for a parent figure someone to show her the way and the fact that Luke isn’t willing to help her and when she starts talking to Kylo, she starts to wonder if Luke was telling the truth then trying to get him back into the fight. She is great, I felt for her character, I wanted her to find out about her parents. Then when we find out about her parents is so different and new that I understand why people didn’t like that because it felt like a really big deal in the last one and then when you find out and it’s not, I get it but to me this was so much better. She is not related to anyone important, she’s her own character, unique that what we need for a character.  She doesn’t interact with the rest of the characters until the end of the film so the whole time it’s Luke and Kylo

Then you have the second side plot where we have Poe and Leia trying to survive fighting against the first order. I really like this part of the story because it did something different with the character type of Poe, because Poe in this movie it the typical hero character that does whatever he wants and does reckless things and will always work out in the end. In this movie his actions have consequences, in the beginning Leai slaps him and gets mad at him for not following her orders. From their he keeps making reckless and rash decisions because he doesn’t trust Holdo. He learns a lesson in the movie and it was nice to see that in a big movie. Also Oscar Isaac’s role is  bigger here because in the last movie he really didn’t do anything except in the beginning and the end, here he was the main side plot.

Going into the negatives, I thought that the side plot with Finn and Rose is not that great, it’s not bad but it could’ve been better or actually taken out of the entire film because it doesn’t effect the plot whatsoever and it felt that they were just giving them things to do because we couldn’t come up with anything to do, which is a shame because the actors John Boyega and Kelly Marie Tran are really good and both are charismatic and had chemistry but their side story was so unnecessary. The problem is their story is dealing with saving animals and not that you can’t incorporate them in a movie but it’s just so on the nose and also we don’t need to see this in a Star Wars movie, this idea would work in a Star Trek. At least in the episode films if you need a spinoff and had this story idea then I feel it could work, but the main films need to stay away from the real world problems, then we get some bad dialogue or motivations that don’t make sense at the end. For example, Finn was going to kill himself at the end to save everyone but then Rose saves and pushes him out of the way, the reason for that is because as she says we must learn to save ourselves. Because love is what will win this battle. Why? The scene would’ve been more powerful if Finn had died at that scene, his arch felt like it was finished especially from the last movie and it would’ve given Rey more of a purpose for the next film to stop the first order for Finn and we would’ve been behind him because we like Finn.

Also I noticed this in the film and it took me awhile and listening to a lot of reviewers that this new Star Wars does feel a little to political. Like for example, most of the men in this movie do feel kind of dumb and angry and easy to react. Why do we need this in Star Wars and why now. Previous female and male characters in the old E.U. and even recently in Force Awakens, Clone Wars TV show, Rebels, Rogue One and the new canon books felt well written. Both genders felt the same and none were different then the other. So I don’t know why they did it here it makes men look stupid and kinda sexist, which I don’t think it was their intention I think they just wanted to make strong female characters. But you don’t make them like this and don’t shove a political message down our throat if you wanna do it be subtle. Also the way Disney is treating the old fans is disrespectful telling them they don’t matter and discontinuing the E.U. or now Legends doesn’t make sense. I understand that they want to do a new cannon but why not have both. Also saying that your theories are stupid, come on man just explain why you did the changes and you feel like it was the right one, but don’t bash the fans who don’t like it.

Their is so much controversy with this movie, the fandom is so divided with it. I understand why their our things in this movie that would make people upset, they change things that people didn’t expect and Luke’s character is up for debate, I liked it and made sense to me but I’m not argue with anyone if they didn’t like it and also the political message and the way they depicted the men and women in this movie. I get it and people are allowed not to like this movie and are allowed to be angry because of Disney behind the scenes. They are clearly trying to get rid of the old which I understand but I wish they could do it in a better way. But I still really like this movie. As for a recommendation I still don’t know about that, I say see it just to form your own opinion.

Baby Driver is directed and written by Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World's End and Scott Pilgrim) it stars Ansel Elgort, Kevin Spacey, Lily James, Eiza Gonzalez, Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx and Jon Bernthal. The plot is, Talented getaway driver Baby (Ansel Elgort) relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. After meeting the woman (Lily James) of his dreams, he sees a chance to ditch his shady lifestyle and make a clean break. Coerced into working for a crime boss (Kevin Spacey), Baby must face the music as a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.

Baby Driver is the fifth film from Edgar Wright and and a change of pace from his previous films. Reason I say this is because his other films are more comedy centric and this one was more action driven. However like his other films Wright puts heart in it. One thing that makes the movie work are the action scenes and like I said before Wright is a comedy director the only film that he has done that has action in it is Hot Fuzz, however that film was a parody on the action genre even though it great action scenes itself. Also he was writing Ant-Man then left due to creative differences. So I feel he has had wanted to do a movie like this for awhile and practicing on those films has really paid off. Like I said the action scenes are really good, the stunt driving is really on point and the way he shot those scenes you can see everything, nice long wide shots.

Also he had one nice long take in the beginning of the scene, it made that part feal like a musical. Actually the whole film felt like a musical, Wright picked really good music that fit with every scene and made it fit in the story which is that the character Baby when he was kid he was in a crash and left a ringing in ears so he listens to music to try to drown it out. I thought it’s a clever way of putting the soundtrack in the film. Also I thought all the villain or gangster characters are great and really made the film. Each one has their own unique characteristics and the way they develop one of them, you think one of them is going to do one thing but in the end they do something else because of certain events that happen in the film. I thought that was a good twist, also the actors they chose are excellent. You can tell they're having fun with it and the two standouts are Jon Hamm and Jamie Foxx. Also we had Jon Bernthal in here but just in the beginning and he was great I wish he was in more of the movie. Kevin Spacey does a great job playing the main boss who has a soft spot for Baby. You’ll hate him in the beginning but I think everyone will end liking this character at the end. Acting is great, the writing is spot on found nothing wrong it. Edgar Wright is like Tarantino where he has great characters with great dialogue. I loved the dialogue in this film it was fun and funny, Wright putting his comedy background here.

However there are a few things wrong with the film, not a lot but still a few. One I feel that the romance between Baby and Debora was kinda flat, I mean the first and third act of the film are really faced pace and have those colorful bad guys. But Baby and Debora are so flat that they slow the second act down. They don’t have any character. No quirks and you don’t need to have quirks in order to have good characters but when you compare them to the criminals they come off as flat. This hurt the film because like I said the middle chunk of the movie slows down a lot, not that it was bad or terrible but it just compare to the other stuff it stands out. Also I wanted one big scene with an awesome soundtrack like the way Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 did it with Star Lord fighting the bad guy.

That’s basically everything I have to say about Baby Driver, one of the best films of the summer and what makes it better is the fact that it’s orignal. Not an original idea per say but it’s not based off a book or a remake. It Wright’s own idea and I think he pulled it off. People need to see this film buy it on blu ray support it anyway you can so that we can tell studious that we want more original content and not the same things over and over again. We need more films like these especially in the summer because it feels like it gets worse and worse. Definitely recommend go and see this movie.

War is directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) it’s the third film in the Caesar Planet of the Apes films and a prequel/ reboot to the original Planet of the Apes. It stars Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings) Woody Harrelson and Steve Zahn. The premise is Caesar (Andy Serkis) and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless colonel (Woody Harrelson). After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both of their species and the future of the planet.

This trilogy has been very surprising, the first film Rise the trailers didn’t look that good but once I saw it and everyone else did it was a pleasant surprise. The reason being is that the filmmakers focus on the apes, they are the most important part of the films. Especially Caesar played by Andy Serkis, he is since the beginning the best part of the trilogy. He so good in this film and the the other ones that he deserves an oscar for best actor, he is that good. The character of Caesar has become one of my favorite movie characters of all time. I love this character, Andy Serkis plays him so powerful that the character just has to stand up or walk through a crowd and you can feel his presence and power. Also all the other actors playing apes even though their not the main focus and were just background characters did a good job playing apes. But we also have the main four who follow Caesar. Which are Maurice, Rocket and Luca.

These characters especially Maurice are great because they try to bring Caesar back to earth, try to bring him back on doing the right thing and call him out when he does something bad. Their his best friends and they do what best friends do. Maurice has been my favorite of his friends since the first one, you also tell that Caesar really see’s as a brother. He listens to Maurice all the time and usually goes to him for counseling. One of my favorite parts of the franchise is in the second one when Maurice gets shot by Koba you see that Caesar gets really pissed off, that’s how much he cares for him. Then we get Rocket who has been with him since the first film as well who acts as another advisor. He doesn’t say a whole lot but he does go with Caesar in order to make sure he is safe and comes back home. He’s the only one of Caesar's friends that has also has a family. So this is something that Caesar and him can relate to and can understand Caesar’s motivations in the film.

Now getting to the villain, I thought Woody Harrelson was good. I’m glad that he wasn’t the typical villain where he wanted to do bad things because he was bad, no he actually had a reason for the things he was doing, even though you can tell that he is crazy but I feel he is like that because of his intense anger for what happen in his life. You can also understand how someone like him could come to power and so many followers. His actions have a purpose and despite his extreme ways of dealing with a situation I understood every reasoning he had. These are the best types of villains the ones that think that what they're doing is the right thing no matter if it means killing so many people.

Changing the subject the special effects in this movie or trilogy have never been better. You believe that every ape is their and is real. You can see every bit of detail in their face, which makes you care about them even more. Props go to the animators and the actors, because of their combine effort they really bring these characters to life. Every movement and facial expression is extraordinary and this film deserves and oscar nom for special effects. Some other great technical stuff that I would like to get into is the production design, every place you see feels like a real place and fits in this world. I like the post apocalyptic world that the film portrays. Then to top it all off is the excellent score by Michael Giacchino, bringing an homage of the original score from the classic film tying both franchises together. Also the fact that they don’t shoehorn references from the original Planet of the Apes films is great. There are references but they are done correctly.

Now time for negatives. Their few and minor, but one of them is the villain. Like I said he isn’t a bad villain and Woody Harrelson does a good job playing him, but I wish the villain had a stronger presence. Like someone who could really challenge Caesar mentally and be able to butt heads with him. Like the Joker in The Dark Knight, you see those two as powerful, both characters are so different and yet you can see the struggle that Batman has to face while talking to him. I kinda wanted that for Caesar a mental challenge. Then the marketing for the film is bad and I believe hurt the film. I mean the title is misleading, War there is no war the only war is between the humans not with the apes whatsoever, they should’ve called it something else because I believe people are gonna go in expecting one thing while getting something else. The movie is great but that marketing is stupid. Also one tiny thing the guards in the movie are dumb, they are standing inches away from the apes and they don’t see them communicating with each other. But whatever that really doesn’t matter a whole bunch.

War for the Planet of the Apes is a nice conclusion to the Caesar trilogy and is one of the best films of the year. It has drama, great writing, great characters, actual emotions and one of the best trilogies. This is summer movie that should get nominated for an oscar, and if Andy Serkis doesn’t get nominated then I don’t what he has to do to get recognized. I highly recommend this film you will not be disappointed, regardless if you are a fan of the original films or coming in new.

Spider-Man : Homecoming is directed by Jon Watts (Clown, Cop Car) it's the second Spider-Man reboot and the sixteenth film in the Marvel cinematic universe. It stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Jon Favreau, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Tyne Daly, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.  The plot is, “Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, young Peter Parker returns home to live with his Aunt May. Under the watchful eye of mentor Tony Stark, Parker starts to embrace his newfound identity as Spider-Man. He also tries to return to his normal daily routine -- distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just a friendly neighborhood superhero. Peter must soon put his powers to the test when the evil Vulture emerges to threaten everything that he holds dear.”

Spider-Man: Homecoming had a tough hurdle to get through, one being the second reboot of Spider-Man and the fact that the last Spider-Man movie was not good. I felt people were having Spider-Man fatigue, but once people saw the film everything started changing. Also in my opinion this is the second best Spider-Man movie since Spider-Man 2, they finally got the character right. Tobey Maguire was great in the Sam Raimi films but he was only a great Peter Parker and a good Spider-Man, but those films made Spider-Man epic and the character is smaller than that and it’s fine for those films, then in The Amazing Spider-Man films Andrew Garfield played a good Spider-Man but a bad Peter Parker.

Tom Holland plays both parts perfectly, when he’s Peter Parker he is shy, he doesn’t really know how to talk to girls, he gets picked on a lot and nobody seems to pay attention to him, at least not the cool people and like any teenager at that age he is trying to fit in but can’t. Then when he is Spider-Man it’s different, he is confident, sarcastic and doesn’t really know what he is doing. Which is the best part because that’s Spider-Man, Spider-Man is not perfect especially since he’s just barely starting out. But as the films go forward we will see a growth with the character, and hopefully more growth as more films will go on. Also we see that Spidey has a A.I. in his suit like Iron Man did and him interacting with it was really great and funny. I was a kinda worried because I felt that the suit was just an excuse for Spider-Man to have a Iron Man suit, however it works because at the end of the film he doesn’t have it and has to use his old suit to beat the bad guy, that was great because he learned his lesson.

Also a new character created for the film Ned who is Peter’s friend, is really good. It’s nice to see Peter actually talk to someone about being Spider-Man, also the fact that his friend keeps asking him questions about how his powers work and is excited that his friend is a superhero, it felt relatable, because if it was anyone in high school including me and my friends we would feel the same way and probably not be able to keep it a secret. Then we have young Aunt May and I was afraid that they were going to have too many Aunt May is hot jokes, but their wasn’t a lot just two. Her relationship with Peter is like any mom she cares for him and worries about him and wants him to be safe. She was the same Aunt May from the comics and other movies all that was different was that she was younger. New version of Flash, instead of being a big jock that picks on Peter it’s someone in his social circle another nerd. Which is great because that’s now, it’s relatable.

Also of course the best part of the film is Michael Keaton, he does a really good job playing the villain. But the screenwriters also need to be complemented because they actually made a villain that you could actually relate to, you understand why he’s doing these things and he’s not just a bad guy who wants to destroy the city or the world. He just trying to make money for his family, so you actually feel for the guy. Also can I just say that they actually made the lamest villains in the comics the coolest in this film. The Vulture looks awesome, so much better design and character wise. Then we have the other villain the shocker, he doesn’t have the costume but the way they made him look was better. Then we cameos have future villains that hopefully will come in the sequels.

However their are some negative things to say, one of them is the cinematography for the film. The cinematography is alright it’s standard per usual for the Marvel films, but like those minus Guardians it lacks the color that this movie needs. The film is fun and exciting, so it’s needs to look like that. Then the score for the film is mediocre at best. Which I really hate to say because it’s Michael Giacchino, and I know he’s made good scores in the past, but his scores for his Marvel films have been meh. I don’t know if he came in the last minute like he did for Rouge One and wasn’t able to compose a good score or that Marvel are cheapskates and don’t want pay more for a better score, which is probably what it was. Also the marketing for the film was not that good. The posters suck, really bad. They look so lame, nothing to get you excited for it. Then the trailers show way too much of Iron Man making you think he’s big part of the film, also spoiling a cool moment in the film.

Spider-Man:Homecoming was awesome, I love this movie second only to Spider-Man 2. One of the best superhero film this year and I think my favorite this next to Logan. I hope everyone sees this film. You should go out and support it and watch it multiple times. Thank god Marvel had some say in this movie or else Sony would’ve probably made another bad Spider-Man film. Lets see what happens with sequels and other appearances from Spider-Man in other films.

Wonder Woman is Directed by Patty Jenkins,(Monster) stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Connie Nielsen and Elena Anaya. It’s the the 4th film in the DC Extended Universe  and the first time we see Wonder Woman in a live action film and the first of the DC films to actually be good. The plot is, before she was Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, Diana meets an American pilot (Chris Pine) who tells her about the massive conflict that's raging in the outside world. Convinced that she can stop the threat, Diana leaves her home for the first time. Fighting alongside men in a war to end all wars, she finally discovers her full powers and true destiny.

Wonder Woman was a really good film, which harkens back to the classic Christopher Reeve Superman movies. Where the character is really a good person who wants to help people. Which in all honesty is what we needed in the DC films, we needed a film that is fun and knows that it’s a superhero film. The first thing I would like to point out is Gal Gadot, I thought she did a good job as Wonder Woman, also as comedic relief. Director Patty Jenkins knew how to use her, during the film Wonder Woman is the fish out of water. Meaning that she doesn’t know anything about the world besides her own, so when she has to interact with the things around her it’s funny because she doesn’t know what it is. Also the fact that she cares so much about the lives of people, that when people tell she can’t do something, she gets made and doesn’t understand and later she ends up doing it anyways.

The reason why this works is because we have all felt like that, wanting to do something but told not to because we can’t, because we're not strong enough or told it’s not the right time. But Wonder Woman can do it and does without worrying about the consequences. But also has to learn that the world is not exactly black and white like she was taught. People are not bad because their bad sometimes there's a reason or sometimes no reason. This makes her relatable to everyone not just women, which is why I feel that a lot of guys are gonna like this movie as well and will also like this film because it doesn’t treat guys like idiots. For example, Steve Trevor ( Chris Pine) is good man. He says that he wants to help and like Diana he is told not to do something but does it anyways because it’s the right thing to do.

We also have the other men in the group, each one is dealing with something. One wants to be an actor but can’t because of his race, the other has seen too much of the war and has a problem dealing with it. Then we have the chief, who is native american. He is a trader or a smuggler who does this for the money, because as he told Diana that Steve’s people took his land from him and doesn’t know what to do exactly. Diana isn’t really happy about being around these people but once she realizes that all of them have their problems and don’t really want to be here she starts to appreciate them.

Also the action scenes are well executed, there are some negatives in that area but I’ll talk about that later. But when the action works it really works. The highlight of the film is where she takes out a bunch of germans in No Man's Land. That sequence is great, fun and exciting. Also the final fight at the end is also great. It’s very cgi heavy but it was something that my five year old  self loved. It felt like clash of the titans type of fight, I loved it. Go back to the acting, I thought all the actors and extras that played the amazons are really good. Especially the two mains ones, Robin Wright as General Antiope is great. She is the one that believes in Diana when she is child, she starts to train her and is the one that convinces her sister which is also Queen Hippolyta, to train Diana. Speaking of which Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta is really good, she acted like a parent. Meaning that she doesn’t want Diana to fight because even though she doesn’t say it she knows that Diana is the one that needs to destroy Aries, but like any good parent she doesn’t want her daughter to get hurt. This film is pretty relatable, even though it has fantasy elements to it.

As far as negatives go there are a few things, one of the problems with the film are the villains. They are not well developed, their the typical bad guy where they don’t really have a motive they're just evil because they're bad guys. Also the dialogue for them is bad, they were so eye rolling. I understand that this is a throwback to the Superman film in the 80’s but even the villains had better lines in those movies then in this. Also the main focus is on the main character, which I understand because the movie is really good and follows the formula of the Marvel movies. But we need a good villain that we want to hate. Also even though the action scenes are well choreographed, but way too much slow motion. If they were done normally they would’ve look a lot better. Then the cinematography is bland it could’ve used more color, especially since the movie’s tone is fun and lighthearted.

Wonder Woman is a really good movie and a movie that needed to happen, the fact it took this long to make a Wonder Woman movie is baffling. She is one the most popular characters in D.C., as iconic as Batman and Superman. Also the D.C. films lately have sucked, so it was nice that for once that one of my characters was actually done right and had a good movie. I hope this is the beginning of a new start for D.C. and Warner Bros. and I hope that from here on out that the movies will be good or great, crossing my fingers that this is the case. I love these characters more than the Marvel heroes, I grew up with them and I want my characters to have good movies and actually feel like the characters that I grew up with. I have hope that their turning things around now. Definitely recommend this movie, go see it to support it we need more action movies with female leads in them.

Alien: Covenant is the sequel to Prometheus and the Prequel to the first Alien film and the sixth film in the Alien franchise. Directed by Ridley Scott (Alien, Prometheus), the films stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride and Demian Bichir. The story is. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, members (Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup) of the colony ship Covenant discover what they think to be an uncharted paradise. While there, they meet David (Michael Fassbender), the synthetic survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. The mysterious world soon turns dark and dangerous when a hostile alien life-form forces the crew into a deadly fight for survival.

 Alien: Covenant is an ambitious film that has good ideas and waste them, just like Prometheus. Let's start with the good. Michael Fassbender just like in Prometheus is the best part of the whole movie. He plays both David and Walter, who are both androids. He plays both very mysterious and does a good job giving them both different characteristics. David is played more sinister, the way he moves, talks and sounds. And Walter is more like Bishop from Aliens, or like Data from Star Trek. He acts like an android, with no real emotions. You don’t really know what is going on with both characters and I like that Michael Fassbender was able to that in this film. Danny McBride was also a stand out in this film. He didn’t feel out of place, he did a really good job. Katherine Waterston is a good Ellen Ripley clone, not that she is a clone of Ripley but their is no difference between the two characters. However that is also a bad thing. Then the rest of the actors did a fine job, they played their roles fine. Also the design for the xenomorph and the new aliens was really unique. Also the kills in this film are beautifully gory, on par with some of the other kills in the franchise.

However this film has few positives and way more negatives, so many negatives that I hate this stupid movie. So let's get to it. One of the biggest negatives are the characters, the characters in this film are really bad, all their actions make no sense. For example, their suppose to go to this one planet in order to settle it and put a colony their. But the computer senses another planet closer however they don’t know what's there or if it’s breathable. So any person would say stay on course. Only one person go up to the captain to question him, then they get their none of them where helmets. Doesn’t matter if the planet is breathable, you don’t know what's in the air or what not. Later on David has the captain follow him to one of the Alien eggs, so what does the captain do he looks right into the egg even though this Android has acted weird and was doing weird things before. So any rational person would’ve been skeptical and probably would not put their head into a mysterious egg you just saw. Then of course he gets attacked by a facehugger.

 Which leads into the next problem, the plot of the movie which includes the lore of the Alien makes no sense. Reason being is that they make it where David is the one who created the Xenomorphs, which means he made the eggs and has been experimenting with them. Which is why we get different looking Aliens. The way I see it Ridley Scott only see’s his movie as canon and the rest of the sequels didn’t happen. But that’s stupid because you gonna piss off a lot of fans who love Aliens which is the sequel to the first movie. Also we never see David experiment with the Aliens or with anyone. A lot the information he gives us is just told to us and we never see it. The only thing we do see is a flashback of David killing the Engineers on their home planet. We don’t know why he doesn’t say. This is the big problem, everything he explains that happen is so much more interesting then what was in the film.

I believe what happen is that they heard the negative response to Prometheus, which is that convoluted plot, dumb characters and no Aliens. To be fair we didn’t need Aliens in that movie, the most interesting things were the engineers and what they were doing and why they were made at us. So instead they shoehorned the Alien in here at the end. It feels so forced like the studio put their so people would recognize something. Even though the Alien look great and in my opinion beautiful (I’m weird), so did the other creatures. But man it didn’t belong here, I wish the whole movie was about David doing different experiments and fighting the engineers.

 Then we get the main lead Daniels played by Katherine Waterston. I want to talk about her briefly because she doesn’t really do anything for the plot. She is suppose to be the Ellen Ripley of the movie but she doesn’t really do anything. Also in the original Alien we didn’t know who was going to survive at end Ripley was just a random character that survived at the end of the film. In this since she is the only female character that actually has some kind of character and has the short hair, you know from the start that she is the main hero. She has some character development but not much. All the characters are expendable just their to die. We barely know anything about them. This film is basically a slasher film pretending to be smart. For example, their is a shower scene and the alien shows up and kills the couple. It felt like something out of Friday the 13th.

 This film was very disappointing, which makes me sad because I thought Ridley Scott had finally came back because of The Martian. Liking taking two steps forward and ten steps back. I don’t know why he feels that he needs to make these films and erase all of the other lore that was established. It feels very egotistical and he doesn’t get it, it feels like George Lucas where he doesn’t understand what made the first film so great, now he just cares about making it look slick and convoluted plot. This is one of the worst films of the year don’t see this film. Don’t give it money, so we don’t have to see more of these Alien films ever again.  

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Sean Gunn, Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell. It’s directed by James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy, Slither and Super) It’s the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy and the fifteenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Guardians Vol. 2 is about, Peter Quill and his fellow Guardians are hired by a powerful alien race, the Sovereign, to protect their precious batteries from invaders. When it is discovered that Rocket has stolen the items they were sent to guard, the Sovereign dispatch their armada to search for vengeance. As the Guardians try to escape, the mystery of Peter's parentage is revealed.

 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 was a really good film, not as good as the first one. What works in this film are the characters, you can tell that James Gunn really loves these characters because each character is unique and carry their own baggage. What also works is the tone of the film, James Gunn knows what type of movie he is making. The film is at times over the top and extremely fun. Which I repeat fun. This is what makes Marvel so successful is that no matter what type of character they make into a movie at least you know by now that the movie is going to be good. Now let get back to the characters, the main one in the film, the main focus is Star Lord or Peter Quill. This movie is basically all about him. If you haven't seen the film I won’t spoil anything but it has to deal with family problems. The way they approached it was very good and really makes you care for Star Lord and relatable. Actually out of all the Marvel movies he is the most relatable, I feel everyone has been in his situation and know what he going through. But not just Star Lord, but the rest of the characters have their own problems as well. Gamora has to deal with her sister and how they grew up together with a horrible father and how one sister resents the other. Then we have Rocket, who is mentally suffering from being loved and having friends because the experiments that he endured. He doesn't feel he deserves their friendship so he acts like jerk all the time. Then we have Drax who still thinks of his dead wife and daughter. There's a beautiful scene where the character Mantis, who is an empath, which means that with a touch she feels people’s emotions. Drax is just sitting down and with one touch she starts crying, all Drax was doing was thinking about them.

 That’s great moment showing this strong character has such strong emotions. Now the new character’s like Mantis. Mantis is just happy all of the time and naive, but she is really cute and has fun with the Guardian's. Then we also have Ego, which is Peter’s father. The dynamic between him and Peter was really good and you can see he is really trying to reconnect with him and explain things. We also have Yondu who the whole movie we see that he is thinking about his glory days of actually being part of a group of ravagers. Which is where Stallones character plays in who is the leader of the original ravagers. Yondu was kicked out of the group, and the movie as it goes along explains what happened. When you do you would feel bad for him. Yondu was written really well and Michael Rooker did a great job in this movie. You care about his character and I feel that he is going to bring the most emotions from the film.

 Then the film has a lot more comedy it then the first one and when the comedy hits it’s great, and most of the comedy comes from Drax he is basically the comedic relief and I felt that he hit all the beats. Also baby Groot was good to when he worked. I feel people are going to love Groot in this, he is really cute. Also the Sovereign I thought were really cool looking and fit in this universe of the Guardians, it felt very old school sci fi films, hopefully we see more of them. Also the special effects are really good, the color of the film is great. Cinematography was beautiful, make-up is good to. All the technical stuff is great.

 Now for the negatives which brings the movie down a bit compared to the first film. The big one is the comedy, when the comedy misses oh man it misses. It becomes eye-rolling and you know James Gunn knows better because of the last Guardians film. The comedy in that film was on point, every joke was funny and every situation that was set up for a joke. This one was bad, luckily not all the jokes but it was 50/50. Then Drax is great comic relief and despite having one emotional scene, he is just comic relief. He has no arc or emotional scenes and only has one action scene. Drax was short changed in this. Also Nebula, I like her story and the scenes with her and Gamora and the other Guardians but the way that she is played is so over the top which I guess is what James Gunn wanted and she is played that way in the first one but she has a bigger role in this one so her acting was more noticeable in this and it was kinda cringe. Then we get baby Groot, like the comedy in this film Groot is hit and miss, and he’s more miss than hit. I didn’t think it was necessary to have him as a baby in this, I would’ve preferred him as an adult that he has more to do but whatever. Also finding out who the villain is, it’s really obvious. Also I felt Stallone felt misplaced in this movie and the after credit scenes only two were good the other’s pointless, just like in the last Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

 But despite that Guardians vol. 2 is still a really good movie, you will a really good time watching it. You probably won’t have the same problems that I have and for most people this will probably be just as good as the first one. For me though the comedy kills it from being perfect, however the emotions and the characters are what makes these two films good and save this film. I heard that James Gunn is making another one and it’s going to finish the story arc of the Guardians. I can’t wait to see what Gunn has in store for them and looking forward to see these characters again in other films in the future. Recommend seeing this film you won’t waste you money.

Logan is the tenth film in the X-Men film universe and the third and the final Wolverine film for Hugh Jackman. The film is directed by James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma, Walk the Line and The Wolverine), and stars Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Dafne Keen, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant and Richard E. Grant.  The film synopsis is. In the near future, a weary Logan (Hugh Jackman) cares for an ailing Professor X (Patrick Stewart) at a remote outpost on the Mexican border. His plan to hide from the outside world gets upended when he meets a young mutant (Dafne Keen) who is very much like him. Logan must now protect the girl and battle the dark forces that want to capture her.

Logan is by far the best film of the year, despite being so early in the year and it’s also safe to say that it’s the best superhero movie of all time, even surpassing The Dark Knight. Like The Dark Knight the film is more gritty and realistic. Also the first X-Men and Wolverine film to be rated R. This is the film that I believe that James Mangold wanted to make with The Wolverine, but due to studio interference the movie ended up being lackluster to most people. But thanks to Deadpool and some new studio management Mangold and Hugh Jackman were able to make Logan and do whatever they want to make a good movie. One thing you need to know is that this film is dark and depressing, this is a broken down Wolverine, who is at the end of his ropes. So it’s hard to watch especially if you grew up with this character, but this makes the story so compelling and makes the dialogue more dramatic. Which makes the acting great and in my opinion this is the best performance that Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart have done. Hugh Jackman knowing that this was going to be his last film, really goes all out. This is the first time were you really feel for Wolverine. The last X-Men films you cared about him, but in this film you can see how broken this character is. All the X-Men are gone, Prof. X is sick and Logan’s healing isn’t working anymore.

Seeing Wolverine like this, especially since I was kid when I saw the first X-Men movie it was really hard. Just this tough as nails character completely broken was sad. Just the emotion that Hugh Jackman brings to this character is great, The beginning set his character up perfectly and as the film goes on we understand little by little why he’s like this. The same thing with Professor X, the film slowly explains how Professor X got like this, how certain events with him happened and explaining why his relationship with Logan is the way it is. Now we get the new edition to this universe X-23/ Laura. Dafne Keen was fantastic in this film, and this is her first movie, being a kid and this good, her career is gonna go up. Her character was very stoic, she doesn’t say much but through her motions and body movement you can tell how she feels and when she gets angry she gets angry. You can feel her rage through the action scenes and not just her but Logan as well. Speaking of action, the action in this movie is fantastic. It’s brutal and well shot, it’s so great because Wolverine is supposed to be a rated R character and to finally see a movie with him that utilizes that well is awesome. Before Wolverine would kill people and their would be no blood. Not here the violence in here is glorious, can’t say enough good things about it. But what also makes it glorious is that their is not a lot of action, action is spread out and what I mean by that is unlike other action films where there's overtop action every five minutes not giving us a breather. No this film knows when to put them in and they feel appropriate, and not grotesque at all.

They also break movie cliches in this film. For example, (some spoilers ahead)  they get into a car and about to go through a fence Logan says “Hang on.” Now when someone says that in a movie they usually plow through the fence, but in this they get stuck and have to move backwards killing everyone with the fence stuck to the car. It’s a clever idea on making an action scene. Then later on close to the end the evil scientist is explaining his evil plan and instead of listening to the whole speech, Logan shoots him in the head and his dead. That’s great, in other movies you 90% of the time you hear the villain monologue this one they cut it off and I love it. Also (big spoiler) in the film they elude that Professor X killed the X-Man, one of the reasons is because he has these seizures. But never flat out tell you that he killed them they mention it and it's left to our imagination on what exactly happen. I loved that because they treat the audience with respect, they treat us like adults. We are not spoon fed information, there is no flashback on what happen. We are told by Prof. X, who is crying and finally realizes what he did.

As far as the technical aspects go, it’s really good. The cinematography is great, giving beautiful backgrounds that make it look like a true western. Also their was a scene at night at the farm, and they shot like a horror movie. Which is great because the way the scene plays out, Professor X get’s killed by Logan. But it’s a clone of Logan, it played out like an episode of the Twilight Zone. Very dark and surreal, because we don’t know what’s happening in the beginning of the scene and the revelation on Logan’s face was great and horrifying. Especially when he see’s Professor X, then the family dying that was a dark scene.

I have no negatives in this film, I can’t think of anything. I feel this film was perfect, well executed and I feel James Mangold and Hugh Jackman finally made the Wolverine film they wanted to make. This film deserves all the awards and accolades that I’m sure it will get at the end of the year. Also if the academy doesn’t nominated this film for best picture and nominated Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart I’m officially done with the academy and I have no hope for them. Film like this comes around every couple years and it should be celebrated, I had been waiting for that superhero movie to beat The Dark Knight and it finally happen. Go see this movie, even if you don’t like the X-Men, Wolverine or superhero movies you should watch this. Even if you remotely enjoy watching movies you need to see this. I love this movie and it was a fitting end to my hero that I grew up with.

John Wick: Chapter 2 is the sequel to John Wick and is directed by Chad Stahelski (John Wick) and stars Keanu Reeves, Common, Laurence Fishburne, Riccardo Scamarcio, John Leguizamo and Ian McShane. The film picks up after the first one were retired super-assassin John Wick's plans to resume a quiet civilian life are cut short when Italian gangster Santino D'Antonio shows up on his doorstep with a gold marker, compelling him to repay past favors. Ordered by Winston, kingpin of secret assassin society The Continental, to respect the organization's ancient code, Wick reluctantly accepts the assignment to travel to Rome to take out D'Antonio's sister, the ruthless capo atop the Italian Camorra crime syndicate.

John Wick Chapter 2 is the second film from stuntman Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, who have been stuntman for years and helped coordinate the stunts on the Matrix films and other Wachowskis films. What surprises me the most about this film and the previous is how great the action is in both films. You can tell that they know their stuff and really studied up on a lot of classic action movies of the past. The action in this one has been increased, more blood and more headshots. Also really cool ways of him killing people, the fight choreography is just stellar. As well as stylized. Which makes sense coming from these two. Another thing that I love about the movie is the storytelling and the characters. They did a really good job of expanding this world, the world they created is interesting, it feels like a graphic novel come to life. I mean an organization of super assassins that have their own hotel, how cool is that. They also had more character development for John Wick, you see him in this movie really pissed and hate from himself the fact that he has to keep doing this, when all he wanted was to stop and the reason for him stopping was his wife. We see him in one scene screaming that he couldn't stop and being forced back into this. Also the fact that he is a legend in this community of assassins makes it fun especially since some of them are afraid of him. That was interesting to me because we don’t see that in action movies, we don’t see the main hero want to stop or actually have development. The only time you actually get any kind of depth is in westerns, which this kinda plays out as.

But besides the character development from John, all of the other characters are just as fun and interesting. Although they don’t really have any depth to them but like I said they're still fun characters with their own unique mannerisms. Common was good in this, he played the cool stoic type and was used correctly. We also have Ian McShane as the hotel manager, who is calm and collective and the words of wisdom to John, when John listens that is. Then we had Ruby Rose as Ares who played a mute assassin who would communicate via sign language, that made her really interesting as well as having a rivalry with John Wick throughout the film. She played the character well, she was as tough as John Wick but was also funny because of the way she talked but through sign language.  Laurence Fishburne guest stars in this and his character is interesting and thankfully not a copy of Morpheus from The Matrix series. He is interesting and quirky and leaves you wondering who side is he really on.

Going back to the directors, are really liked how they shot all the action scenes. Nice wide shots so you can see everything that is going on, no quick cuts that you can’t tell what's going on. Every shot stays on a action scene for awhile, which makes it more intense and more brutal. Cinematography is great makes it look like a graphic novel, gives the movie it’s own style. Also breaks action movie cliches, can’t say what parts without spoiling but just say it was refreshing.

As for negatives the only thing that I thought wasn’t that good was the villain, he wasn’t terrible but he wasn’t as good as the last one from the first one. In this one the villain doesn’t really do anything, now in the first one the main bad guy didn’t do anything but he was more menacing and at least at the end of the film he was able to hold his own against John Wick. In this one he not even at all menacing and besides his henchman know one seems to take him seriously and the situation he is in is his fault unlike in the first one where the son of the villain put them in trouble, this one he dug that hole and went right in. Hopefully if we get another one we get a villain that is on par with John Wick. Also this is my nitpick and won’t affect anything but I felt I just wanted to address this. I felt the film just didn’t have that high octane adrenaline rush that the first one had. Which I think is because in the first one, you were more invested on him wanting to get revenge because they killed his dog which was gift from his dying wife. So you already wanted him to kill the bad guys. In the second one they improved on the story, while keeping up the action. But I felt they told the story in a slower pace which is not a bad thing what so over, just for me it didn’t have that feeling of the first one, but that’s just me.

I loved John Wick Ch. 2 only had one minor problem in it, and for a movie especially an action movie to have a minor problem especially in this day and age with modern action movies should be applauded. This is just as great as the first one, I don’t think it was better, but it was on par to the first one, Keanu Reeves should be applauded for this as well, the amount of training he went through to do his own stunts is extraordinary and really shows in the film. As well the two directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski, that’s two movie back to back that have made that have been excellent and I’m going to remember these two for any future films that either of them make and I’m gonna make sure that I see and support all of their films. I highly recommend this, I implore everyone to go and see this film and the first one. Support these guys that way we can get more content and more original films from them as well.

Arrival is Directed by Denis Villeneuve, (Prisoners, Enemy and Sciario) and stars Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker, Michael Stuhlbarg and Tzi Ma. The movie is about Linguistics professor Louise Banks (Amy Adams) leads an elite team of investigators when gigantic spaceships touchdown in 12 locations around the world. As nations teeter on the verge of global war, Banks and her crew must race against time to find a way to communicate with the extraterrestrial visitors. Hoping to unravel the mystery, she takes a chance that could threaten her life and quite possibly all of mankind.

Arrival is the fourth film by Denis Villeneuve and is on par with his other three films. He hasn’t made a bad movie yet and this is a nice change for him and when I mean change I mean genre, because his last films are really dark and psychological while this film is more of mystery drama. One of the things I love about the movie is that it takes it’s time telling the story and slowly unraveling the mystery piece by piece, this was great because it was making us think and treated like adults. We had to be patient and wait for the movie to reveal itself to us. Now I understand that most people are not going to love the slow pace of the movie but for me I loved it, it’s something I was hoping for in this movie. What I was also hoping for was great acting and I kinda of got it. What I mean is that the acting is really good but not oscar level good, know one disappeared in a role, but like I said the performances were really good. For example, Amy Adams does a good job as the lead in this film. She kept the story going and you actually felt for her character you wanted her to succeed. Then we have Forest Whitaker as army colonial GT Weber, he does a really good job in this film. He had a weird accent but it ended working for me in the end. Then we also have Jeremy Renner who plays Ian Donnelly and he does a fine job.

Also the cinematography like all his films is always beautiful, it’s not Roger Deakins who has done all of his other films. Instead it’s Bradford Young and he does a great job, all of the scenes, the whole movie looks beautiful. Another that I liked about the movie is the design of the aliens and I mean all of their designs. The they look, the way their ship looks and the way their language looks. I thought it was really neat and something different, I think this literally the first different unique design of aliens that I have seen in a movie in a long time. Now going back to when I was talking about slower pacing. The way the movie shows the characters speaking to the aliens is really clever, like how their trying to decipher their language and trying teach them are language. Little things like this that I’m glad the filmmakers thought about. Also the way people reacted to the aliens in this film felt realistic and not hollywood style, where we want to blow them up. No we actually would think about it, discuss it with the world and see what we be the right choice. That’s awesome.

Even though I have been raving about this film there are some things wrong, minor things nothing that bad. One of them is the acting is just serviceable no one stands out, in fact you could just replace any of these actors with someone else and nobody would notice. Also this is give or take with me, but in the film their is twist with one of the characters and I thought it was kinda of neat but not necessary because you already explain the meaning of the story already. I don’t know I just felt they didn’t need that. These were more nitpicky things than negatives but I thought I should still address them.

For me Arrival is a great film, great storytelling, dialogue, mystery and realistic sci-fi. This had everything that I wanted. If you enjoy science fiction films not science fantasy, science fiction then you’re going to enjoy this film. If you're expecting hyper charge, a lot of action and fast paced film then you're not going to like this film at all. I hope this film made it’s budget back because we need more films like this, I want more films like this, films with different ideas and a slow burn that keeps you on the edge of your seat due to a great mystery. Another great film for 2016. I highly recommend this film go see it, buy it anything so this film can makes it’s budget back.

The Edge of Seventeen is Directed by Kelly Fremon Craig and stars Hailee Steinfeld, Woody Harrelson, Kyra Sedgwick, Haley Lu Richardson and Blake Jenner. The film is about high school junior Nadine, who feels awkward and alone, especially since her dad died years ago. To make matters worse her brother starts dating her best friend Krista. Feeling more alone than ever, that is until a surprising friendship grows from one her classmates, gives her a glimmer of hope that things might not be so bad.

The Edge of Seventeen was a great movie and was a film that I was looking forward to once I heard all the great reviews. Reason I say that is because when I saw the trailer I thought it was just another young adult movie. You know the ones that are very poorly written, have no substance and feel like they should be on the disney channel. But man was I wrong, this was excellent and one the year's best films. Alright let's get into it, one of the aspects of the film that I love is the writing. All the characters actually feel like real people, the way that Nadine and her friend act is the way some teenagers are like and the way they talk, which includes using bad language. Which is good because that’s the way teenagers in high school would talk, that was great because it felt realistic. Nadine as a character complains a lot in this movie but it’s for a good reason especially since we know what has happen to her. Also Nadine doesn’t really like her brother because he was always the favorite and perfect at everything, so she never thinks that he has own problems, which puts a nice twist to this type of movie. But what makes this character so good is the performance by Hailee Steinfeld. She can be dramatic and yet have great comedic timing, you care for her character and you understand why she’s this way. Also the way Steinfeld did her facial expressions was great. Hailee Steinfeld is excellent and should be nominated for best actress. We also have her brother Darian (Blake Jenner), who when you see the movie you think he is the typical dumb jock but he is actually a really nice guy who actually cares for his family, especially for his sister. Then he has to deal with the fact that he is the one that is the parent because the mom is useless.

Well not useless just lost, she doesn’t really know what to do with Nadine or how to deal with her because her husband was the one that actually understood Nadine. You can see that their mom is really clueless to what happens with her kids and allows her son to take most of the responsibility, but we understand why she’s like this. Then we also have the awkward admirer character that Nadine meets named Erwin. Who ends up being someone she can talk to and end up caring for even though in the beginning she doesn’t see him in that way. Getting back to Erwin, he was funny he is basically every guy who has been awkward around girls and the guy that the girl doesn’t get with. Then we have Woody Harrelson's character Mr. Bruner, who is Nadine’s teacher and someone who Nadine goes to to tell her problems, even though Mr. Bruner seems not to care. Woody Harrelson is great in this and really funny, because the way he talks is what most teachers would probably want to say if they had the chance and some of the stuff he says is really funny. But there's a twist to this character, usually this character would be the main antagonist or just someone who is mean to the main character because she is teenager, however that not who it ends up. Which what I love about this movie, the fact it takes a lot of the general stereotypes you would see in these coming of age movies and changes it. Put’s a realistic spin to it and makes it fresh.

I don’t have any negatives for the film, I only have one nitpick and it’s about the rating of the film. I don’t think I should’ve been rated R, the only thing bad about the movie is the language which all teenagers know. If anything I fell teenagers would want to watch this too and they would relate to this the most because their going through it. That’s basically it, I just think it’s mistake to makes this R for language.

The Edge of Seventeen is a fantastic movie, full of heart heart break and shows the way life was for everyone who was a teenager. I can’t tell you how much I loved this movie and the the main character herself, she reminds me of myself when I was younger. Of course I didn’t complain like she did but I had and still have the same interest that she does and felt the way she felt with today’s youth. I won’t give it away but you’ll know what I’m talking about when you see it. Highly recommend this movie can be enjoyed by anyone go and see it.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the 8th film in the Star Wars saga and the first spin-off film in the canon and takes place right before A New Hope. It’s directed by Gareth Edwards (Monsters and Godzilla 2014) and it stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Mads Mikkelsen, Donnie Yen, Alan Tudyk, Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. In Rogue One, scientist Galen Erso’s peaceful life is ruined when Orson Krennick a former friend of his, forces him to work on the ultimate weapon. Jyn escapes and grows up. She realizes that her father has the key to destroy the Death Star, so in order to avenge her father she teams up with the rebel alliance to find the plans and to help them destroy the Death Star.

Rogue One is a good movie, not the greatest and in my opinion completely overblown and overrated. People were comparing this film to the Empire Strikes Back and I don’t understand what their saying. But regardless there are positives so let's talk about it. (Spoilers) The first thing is the acting is excellent, everyone does a great job they take their roles seriously. Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso was really good, you feel for her character because of her acting. Her character is strong, tough and caring. You want her to succeed and redeem her father.  Then we have Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) who is a rebel alliance captain, who in the movie is told to do some terrible things and he struggles on doing the right thing and to doing his job. Then we have K-2SO (Alan Tudyk) who is the comic relief, who is like 3PO but more of a dick. Who only seems to be helping because he was told to instead of actually wanting to do it. He is really funny and at first I thought he was really forced but watching it a second time he was really good and one of the best parts of the whole movie. Then we have the supporting characters Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen), Baze Malbus (Jiang Wen), Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed) and Saw Guerria (Forest Whitaker). They also do a good job, serviceable.  We also have Tarkin in this and the two actors who portrayed him (the body stand in and the voice actor) do a great job it felt like Tarkin, despite some things which I’ll talk about in the negatives. Then Vader was used in this perfectly.

Also I thought the filmmaking in this was outstanding, the different shots and angles were awesome. As well as the cinematography, it was so beautiful. Every shot look like a work of art and if this doesn’t get nominated for best cinematography then I don’t what the academy is thinking. Then I think the special effects in this were great better than the force awakens minus two things. The way the ships look, the planets all the effects were top notch. Going back to the ships, the ships look like puppets from the original films that’s how good they look. I could go on about the technical detail of this film but that would take to long, I’m just happy that their is actual filmmaking in this movie. I also love the grittiness to it look like a war film and felt that way. I also like (SPOLIERS) that all the characters died at the end, that is so neat and different and puts a finality to the story that I wish more movies would do this.

Now let's get to the negatives. One of the negative’s of the film are the characters, now the actors do a good job conveying emotion and making you care enough for the characters however that is not enough. You need character development, and hardly any of the characters were developed. Jyn had some so you cared for her more, but we needed to see her daily life. What has she been doing, why does she run place to place. Cassian is the same we are told briefly what he has suffered but we don’t get more, we needed more. Then Cassian and K-2 are suppose to be partners or Cassian reprogramed him I don’t know. But how about we get a relationship with both of them like a Han and Chewie relationship. Then Donnie Yen’s character is barely given any character development. We are told that he used to be a jedi guard but we don’t get any more detail on that. Then Baze gets no development what’s so ever. Then we hardly know who Bodi is. Also Forest Whitaker doesn’t get any at all, we don’t see his relationship with him and Jyn, explaining why she hates him or dialogue explaining why he’s crazy. Then Mads Mikkelsen is wasted in this he’s barely in it and we don’t really care only through the acting do you care but that’s not good enough. We also have the worst villain in Star Wars, Orson Krennic. He sucks, all he does is complain and basically whines to his bosses that he should be in charge of the Death Star. Which sucks because in the beginning he seemed like he was going to be a good villain. That beginning was cool, then he just complains the whole movie. I just hate the fact that in the prequel novel Catalyst Krennic is manipulative and cunning and he does nothing here.

Also the cameos in this film were stupid, you see the two guys that were in the cantina in the first film and it was distracting. Also 3PO and R2 was unnecessary and distracting, than having Vader and Tarkin in here really makes Krennic look weaker. Also I know it’s a tie in to the first movie but you don’t need Vader and Tarkin, maybe just Tarkin but not Vader. Talk about them or hologram but they didn’t need to be in here, but it was cool. Going back to the villain, since Krennic was so weak why didn’t you just Vader as the main villain, would’ve worked better. Then the worst part are the dumb CGI faces of Tarkin and Leia, but mostly Tarkin my god they looked so faked. Ok Leia wasn’t that bad but Tarkin looked faked and the problem is that he is the movie for a lot of the film. They should’ve shot him differently to try to hide it more. I don’t know why they didn’t use make-up would’ve been better. Then the score is not good, it’s serviceable but not memorable at all. Last thing nitpicky, the ending felt a little too much fan service but I loved it at the same time so whatever. Also the reveal of Bail Organa was silly but I’m glad he was in it, just the reveal of him was weird.

Doctor Strange is the 14th film in the Marvel Cinematic universe and the first film for Doctor Strange stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel Mcadams, Benedict Wong, Michael Stulberg, Benjamin Bratt, Scott Adkins, Mads Mikkelsen and Tilda Swinton. It’s Directed by Scott Derrickson who did Sinister and Deliver Us From Evil. The score is by Michael Giacchino.  In the film Doctor Stephen Strange is an Egotistical neurosurgeon who is the best in his field. When an accident leaves his hands broken who goes far east to find away to heal them. While doing this he discovers that there's more to life than the physical and learns the ways of the spiritual form, while learning humility in the process. Meanwhile Kaecilius wants to bring Dormaui to earth in order to save it, and it’s up to Strange to stop him.

This is the first time in a long time at least for Marvel since we had an origin story and Deadpool doesn’t count since that’s Fox. I was surprised that they decided to do an origin story again I thought that he would’ve been an established character but it’s their choice and I have to say it works. What makes it work are the visuals which I have to say are outstanding, it’s very mind bending Inception like but unlike Inception where everything is grounded Doctor Strange goes all out and goes further beyond on what Inception did. Also the way the action scenes played out with the set pieces was really well done. The choreographer was really cool looking, using martial arts with magic was cool looking. Now changing the subject the acting in this movie was really good, especially Benedict Cumberbatch he is really good as Doctor Strange. In the beginning we see that Strange is unlikable and Cumberbatch does great job playing that. The movie also gives him a quirk where he knows pop songs which I thought made him kinda more interesting, didn’t really need to be in their but I guess so he wouldn’t be so unlikable for the audience. I really like how smart he was that he was able to learn everything at a fast pace and reading all these books in order to learn more.

All the other actors do a great job, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Mordo was good. He is a good guy in this movie but you can clearly see he has a darkside to him, you can see through his dialogue talking to Strange that what ever happen to him in his past has made him harsher and that his trust in the ancient one is what has kept him in check. Then Tilda Swinton as the ancient one was very new and interesting. She was kinda funny and witty and charming. Kinda resembling Yoda, I mean not to the extreme but the way she would teach Strange was different than what your typical mentor would do. Also a little bit of a darkness to her. The fact that she lied about certain things, I just think it’s cool that a lot of the characters have shades of grey to them. Then the other actors do a solid job, or serviceable. I also like the design of the other realm, it was really cool looking. Then the end scene where they were reversing time and everything was being put together again then the final fight with Dormammu was really clever. I won't give that away but it was so clever and great when Strange beat the villain. And the way he beat him was set up earlier in the film and came back at the end. Which I thought was great.

Now this movie has a bit of flaws, flaws in line with some of the general Marvel films. One for example, is the main villain Kaecilius played by Mads Mikkelsen. We don’t get enough of why he is doing the things he doing or what’s the main goal. I mean he says he wants to save everyone and he thinks that bringing Dormammu and the dark dimension was a way to save everyone. But we don’t really get anything from his past to explain his motives which they should've done in the beginning like a flashback with him and the ancient one. Also the intro to the film was too much action with the ancient one, they should’ve saved all action scenes later because it would have been more impactful later on. Then the biggest problem for were the jokes, some of the jokes really sucked not all of them but when they don’t hit they fall flat. One with Strange and Wong was terrible and some other moments that were suppose to be serious then ruined with a joke, also I wish Strange was just a straight up jerk and not like Tony Stark were he was quirky. The reason why I say that is because it would’ve been a better character arc when we get to the end when he finally realizes that the world doesn’t revolve around him. Also the movie didn’t really explain how long he was training for it felt really short. Then another problem that the Marvel films have is the female characters, Rachel Mcadams is wasted in this movie. She doesn’t do anything she is just their to be the love interest and doesn’t propel the story and when she has something to do it felt like that was the only reason why she was in the movie.

Luke Cage stars Mike Colter, Mahershala Ali, Simone Missick, Theo Rossi, Erik LaRay Harvey, Rosario Dawson and Alfre Woodard. It’s the third Marvel Netflix series and part of the Marvel cinematic universe and was created by Cheo Hodari Coker. Luke Cage is a man on the run and in hiding. He doesn’t want to be a hero however when he sees Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes killing people he decides to come out of the shadows and take matters into his own hands. Luke Cage is another hit by Netflix, I have to say this show is on par or a little bit better than Daredevil and better than Jessica Jones. To be honest I didn’t think that I would love this show this much, I mean I knew it would be good but I thought it was going to be on par with Jessica Jones. I don’t know how Marvel keeps doing this and Netflix but I hope they can keep this up

Now here is the thing with Luke Cage that work for me, it was the mix of serious drama with corniness. But the good thing is it never got too corny, it had just the right amount to make it more humorous is which what makes this show great. Which also includes the characters, Luke Cage is awesome. He has charisma, charm and the power. It really pays homage to those old blaxploitation film, but unlike those films it has good writing and yes it does have that corniness but like I said not to extreme. Also speaking of corniness the tone fits the character. Luke Cage has a terrible past, which can be very dramatic and one episode got to the level of The Shawshank Redemption and keeps that level of seriousness. The other characters are just as great, Simone Missick plays Misty Knight and I thought she was great. She did a great job as a real cop, all she wants is to know the truth and I really felt for her especially what happened in the beginning. Then seeing Rosario Dawson back as Claire was great because it connects all the other Netflix shows together and she will probably be the one to bring them together and her character's interaction with Luke Cage was sweet, the relationship between the two them felt real and I hope to see them together again. Now going back to Luke Cage, there is a part in the story where he shares a past with another character and I thought this brought a nice extra drama to the story. It’s incredible how serious this show got considering the main characters comic book roots.

Also the villains are great, I would say on par with the rest of the Marvel/Netflix villains, Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes played by Mahershala Ali is great. He’s ruthless and enjoys being ruthless, we see that when he does something or plans on doing something sinister he laughs about it. But we also see that he does actually care about his city and get a glimpse in his past which explains that he never really wanted to do this but was forced into it. This give him more character and more depth. We also have Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard. She was also great in the show, her character was very interesting because she was making a deal with her cousin Cornell. She is more behind the scenes and doesn’t get her hands dirty, also doesn’t think what her cousin is doing is right like killing people, she feels that their are other ways of doing things. I liked her and we also see into her pass which explains why she is the way she is. All the actors including the smaller supporting roles are really done, Theo Rossi is really good as Shades, someone who is part of Cage’s past and basically the strategist. He thinks more than Cornell when it comes to the plans. The character is pretty campy, by having this different way of speaking and acting, but I felt it fit the tone of the series and I really enjoyed his performance and character.

One other thing that is extremely well done is the music. The score pays homage to those old 80’s blacksploitation films. It has great Jazz music and the cool thing is when they have Luke Cage walking down street, it looks like he’s walking to the beat. But the best part is the main title theme, I loved it it think it’s one of  the best theme’s that we have for a tv series, it’s fits the show and character well in my opinion. The dialogue is also well written, which also comes with the comedy. The comedy which mostly comes from Luke Cage is done well, he times it right and it fits the situation he’s in. One other thing I liked is the portrayal of the power of Luke Cage, Mike Colter really feels powerful and looks powerful. The action scenes too me were really well done, I know a lot of people were complaining about them but I thought they looked good I mean it’s not going to be like Daredevil with a lot of martial arts it’s just regular street brawling the way it should be for this character.

I have gushed on about how good the show is, but like every good show or movie it still has it’s flaws. Luckily there aren't many negatives but they do hurt the show a bit. One of the things that I thought that didn’t work in the show was the sci-fi elements. Now I know that Luke Cage’s powers are based on science fiction but I felt when they showed him getting his powers it kind of broke the tone of the show. I don’t know those elements didn’t seem to work in the show. Then the biggest problem I have is with the character of Diamondback, now I think the actor did a great job, I thought he was really sinister and one bad guy. But they put this story element with him that I thought was kinda dumb and convenient. Then (SPOILERS SKIP AHEAD) at the end when he wears a power suit in order to fight Luke I thought it was the dumbest thing ever. The problem is the suit looks so awful and what's worse is he’s wearing a helmet. I know that’s he’s costume from the comics but somethings should never be adapted to live action. Instead they should've given him the same powers of Luke Cage that would’ve worked better. (End Spoilers) Also the weapon they use to hurt Cage didn’t work for me, they should’ve thought of something better.

Suicide Squad is the third film in the DC Extended universe and takes place right after Batman V. Superman. The film stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Cara Delevingne, Scott Eastwood, Ben Affleck and Jared Leto.  The film is written and directed by David Ayer (End of Watch, Training Day, Fury). A U.S. government agent Amanda Waller finds and captures the most dangerous criminals on the planet, figuring their expendable they send them out on a suicide mission to stop a supernatural being who will destroy the city. So Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Killer Croc, Capt. Boomerang and El Diablo need to learn to work together in order to stop this threat. Meanwhile the Joker has his own plan set in motion.

Suicide Squad was one of the most anticipated movies for me this summer. The trailers look great, it showed a fun action packed movie in the same vain as Guardians of the Galaxy and Deadpool. As well as being a refresher from the very dark and gloomy Batman V. Superman. Unfortunately this movie was a bit disappointing for me. However there are a lot of good things, so let’s get into this. For me what made this movie work  were the characters, they were so much fun and felt accurate to who they are in the comics, at least some of them. Deadshot played by Will Smith was a really good character and of course very Will Smith. He was charismatic, funny, charming and likable. Also he was a little sinister, there was a hint of being a bad guy. But of course not fully since it’s Will Smith which is fine since it’s Will Smith, but I really liked his character, I felt sorry for him and was rooting for his character and he ends up being the heart of the Suicide Squad. Then we also have Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and she nails the role. She has the voice down perfectly, she didn’t sound fake or someone trying too hard she felt naturally and she was the best. What also made her great is how fun she is, she felt like what the tone of the film was trying to be and she pulled it off. I like her character a lot and I really hope we get a standalone film with her. I also really the flashbacks with her and Joker, showing the relationship between the two of them and how she became Harley was great.

Which leads into Viola Davis who is the boss and overseer of the Squad. She played Amanda Waller great, she was ruthless, no nonsense and heartless. She felt more like a bad guy then the actual bad guy which is great because that’s who she is in the comics. She has a plan and will step over anyone who get’s in her way and uses people as leverage. Also, keeping with the string of cameo’s we have been getting in are superhero movies this year, Batman in this movie was all kinds of awesome. He’s not in the movie a lot probably just five minutes but he felt like the Batman that I know and love, more so than in Batman v Superman. He was intimidating, had a booming voice, he had a presence and was actually not killing anyone which made me happy. That made the movie a little bit better. I also like the expansion of the D.C. extended universe and this movie finally felt like a universe, meaning that it’s just a movie with the same characters over and over again. It was nice to actually see different characters finally from D.C. and hopefully we get other movies with different characters. Also I like the look of some of the characters, they felt very dirty and the Squad felt really over the top and were very exaggerated, which is cool. As well as some of the action scenes were super cool especially with Deadshot. Also El Diablo was a nice character and I felt for his character and what happen to his family, very tragic. And Jai Courtney was really good in this movie. I liked him as Capt. Boomerang, he was tone of fun and in a lot films he is really flat but Ayer found a way to use him.

Now onto the negatives, which their is quite a few. The one bad thing and annoying thing in the whole first two parts of the film, the soundtrack. My god the soundtrack is stupid, the reason why it’s so stupid is because they play a song every five minutes. It’s like the only way they thought they could make the movie fun was make it look like a trailer and you can see some remnants of what the movie was going to be, which I believe was going to be a lot darker than what they showed. But since warner bros got the negative feedback from Batman v Superman they decided to backtrack and do reshoots making the film lighter. BVS didn’t suck because it was darker it sucked because of terrible editing, writing and story. But here you had a good story and an actually director who has made great films and has written great films, but since Warner Bros doesn’t know what to do with their universe they got scared and ruined it.

I would also like to point out that some of the characters are not developed enough or at all. Killer Croc barely has a character and whatever character they gave him they made it the most stereotypical it could possibly be. For example, Croc is african american so since he is black they gave the typical voice slang, dressed him up like a black guy. That was so dumb, Croc in the comics is actually a pretty tragic character and an actual villain not this stereotypical guy. Also, even though I like the character of El Diablo they also made him a stereotype as well. I understand that their are people who still act like that or talk like that or look like that. But after seeing in so many movies and real life and since majority of mexicans don’t talk like that, it’s gets annoying after awhile. I also didn’t really like Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, his story and the fact they made him fall in love with the Enchantress character was so dumb and pointless, his character is pointless.  And speaking of pointless, Enchantress was a terrible villain. She made no sense and I didn’t understand why she wanted to do what she wanted to do. Also the actress playing her was not good, really flat Not only that the character of Enchantress makes Amanda Waller looks dumb. Reason is that she is the one that trusted Enchantress and thought she could control her but that didn’t work out.

Then she thinks that assembling this team would be enough to stop this immortal witch. Which only has one metahuman.  That doesn’t make any sense at all, also forming the team because they're afraid if we get another Superman that he might be bad, so they want to combat themselves. But like I said there's only one person that could possibly fight against someone like Superman on the team. It also feels like some scenes were edited out kinda like what happen in BVS. However, it wasn’t as bad but it still felt like there were things taken out that I thought that would’ve helped flesh out certain things. As well as show more Joker and I also thought he was kinda of a let down. Not that he was bad just he was barely in the movie. I honestly can’t really form an opinion on him since he’s barely in it, so hopefully we see him again that way I can form an opinion or see him in the deleted scenes. Also I feel Warner Bros is the flaw with this movie. They don’t what they wanted, they completely butchered their own movie. They did reshoots to make the movie lighter so it can feel like Guardians of the Galaxy and Deadpool. As well as making David Ayer write the script in six weeks, so they can rush it out and make Marvel money. I getting kinda of tired of Warner Bros doing this. It also should’ve benn rated R.

However, despite these negatives the movie is still fun, a lot of the characters are really fun and saved the movie for me. I understand all the negatives and completely understand everything the critics are saying or other people are saying, but I still liked it. It’s the same for me with Man of Steel, I really like that movie but I understand the criticisms of that move as well, however I think Man of Steel  is still a better movie than the other two DC movies that came out after. But despite that this movie was still a disappointment but it’s still a lot of better than BVS and in my opinion was a course correction from BVS, even though Warner Bros still messed up. This has kinda brought me back on board with the DC movies, let's hope that

Wonder Woman is great and Justice League as well, I’m still optimistic. I definitely would recommend it.

Batman: The killing Joke is twenty-six film in the DC animated direct to video movies and it features the voice talents of Mark Hamill, Kevin Conroy, Tara Strong and Ray Wise. In the film Joker has escaped Arkham Asylum and Batman is hunting him down. However unknown to Batman, Joker is taken things to the extreme by kidnapping Gordon by driving him insane. Proving once and for all that everyone, push to their limits will become insane.

The Killing Joke graphic novel, (which is what this movie is based off) is one of the best storylines for the Joker and Batman. It pushed their rivalry to iconic statues. This was the first time that these characters were portrayed as opposites of each other. It’s very beloved. So when people and me heard that DC animated studios was making this story into a film, everyone and me got excited. Unfortunately the movie was a little bit of a mix bag. So let’s get to the positives, first the voice acting is on point. I can’t tell you how great Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy are, they were fantastic. Hamill, gives his best performance of the Joker to date. He played it little differently than previous versions. It felt more human at times and more sinister. Also, Tara Strong did a really great job as Barbra, I really felt for her when she got injured. Ray Wise did a good job as commissioner Gordon, I felt for him and cared about what was happening to him throughout the film. Now we get to Kevin Conroy, who in my opinion is Batman. Whenever I hear him as Batman, everything seems right in the world. What can I say he does a great job just as much as Hamill did. You can tell that both actors know these characters inside and out.

I also think that the animation was really good, it was smooth and sharp. They had some scenes that looked exactly like the panels of the graphic novel. So when certain scenes had Joker doing something it looked really terrifying. Also some of the stuff they added in the actual story of the Killing Joke was cool. For example, we see Batman tracking down thugs or different criminal organizations in order to find the Joker. We didn’t get to see that in the comic, so that was a nice touch to add to the film. As well as other little things here and their. Another thing that was really good were the flashback sequences that showed who Joker use to be. I thought those scenes were adapted really well. You can tell how great of an actor Hamill is because he plays these scenes so well and dramatic that you feel sorry for this character. Then the best part is the ending which right out of the comic. The ending is ambiguous and lets you wonder what actually happened. I’m glad they did this and didn’t force an actually ending to it.

Now for the bad which unfortunately is the first half hour of the movie. The beginning is so bad because it completely misrepresents the characters. It’s start with Batgirl who is tracking down a criminal, who later has an obsession with her. Which is supposed to mirror the relationship that Batman and Joker have. Now all this would be fine, but the entire time Batgirl comes off as a whiney brat and is just annoying. Which makes no sense because she is not suppose to be like this. Batgirl is super smart, intelligent and wouldn't make stupid mistakes and would usually have respect for Batman when he tells her something. Also Batman is supposed to be another father figure for Batgirl, he like a mentor. But for some reason the producers decided to have them have sex in the movie. Which is awkward and weird. One thing Batman wouldn’t do that because Jim is his friend also Batgirl is suppose to be in her twenties or nineteen and Batman is forty. So what the hell were they thinking. Then the dumbest part is that Barbara who works at a library has gay friend and he the most stereotypical gay guy and they give him such cringe worthy lines. Also Batman brings coffee to Batgirl, it look like he got it a starbucks that scene was also weird and not that funny. Now I understand what they were trying to do, they wanted us to feel for Barbra later on the film when she gets injured, but the characters all wrong so it comes very weird and awkward.

The only good part about the beginning is that once you get the film on dvd you can skip the entire beginning and go straight into the actually story of the Killing Joke. I don’t understand why they didn’t just make the film for a twenty minute run time, I think everyone would have been fine with that. If it wasn’t for that beginning this movie would have been a great adaption of The Killing Joke and would have gotten a higher score, but it is what it is. The filmmakers had good intentions but they ended up making a average film. But I still think if you just skip that beginning part and get to the end you will like it so much better. And because of that I still recommend it just rent it first if you're hesitant.
