True. BUT, one of the most effective ways to undo unfair rules is to prove how ridiculous and unenforcable they are. If this became a thing across the US — men pretending to be womens’ husbands in order to bypass this policy — eventually the people upholding the policy would be forced to take a step back and say “what’s even the point anymore”.
