Sanderson will go "oh, yeah, I really tried writing a well-thought out autistic character in Steris" and then you look at her husband who is currently fidgeting with a bullet and has low empathy and a very rigid and strong sense of justice and doesn't emote all that much and has a comfort outfit (mistcoat and Roughs hat) and comfort items (many guns) and struggles with social cues and hates smalltalk and parties

the issue with growing up in the 2000s and 2010s was like there was this really big push toward "accepting your weirdness" overall but they meant like idk wearing mismatched socks or something not being tangibly beyond the norm in any way shape or form
