there's like a tiktok thing rn where parents show off the quirky fun ways they're "punishing" their children around christmas time as if it's a cute seasonal diy and it's all genuinely so sick and concerning. a woman smugly painting and wrapping a rock in gift wrap to pull some revenge stunt on her 3(!!) year old for misbehaving the day before, a man throwing a (fake) present into the oven in front of his kindergarten kids, referring to them as "little fuckers" and recommending other parents do the same to really get them good. ideally if they still believe in santa. ending with a close up on their heartbroken sobbing little faces, on a maybe 8 year old girl burying her red face in her hands and turning away from the camera because she's old enough to be embarrassed about being recorded for mommy's clicks while she's crying but unable to do anything about it, on a little boy in 101 dalmatians pajamas pulling his knees to his chest and crying in such a way you can tell he's even trying to do it quietly. i don't want to go into detail on what kind of ghouls even watch this content. and the way it's exacerbated by the social media spectacle too- literally egging each other on to pull off the most click-worthy and unique prank channel style punishments, exposing private and embarrassing situations to a platform used by millions, all to lap up the validation and praise of the completely random strangers that you publicly humiliate your child for. if this demented shit teaches them anything it'll be a deep and personal appreciation for this meme
Remember the āprankā channel that would do this and were literally found guilty of child abuse? While the internet ārejectedā the ink video that caused the investigation, all of their stuff prior to deleting their channel clearly showed signs of the abuse that got them in trouble. People were laughing for years.
A lot of ppl like to drop the excuse that it's just content and the parents aren't always like that and like bro do these kids look like they acting? Any parent that messes with their own kids to this degree, even if they really do only do it when they're filming tiktoks, are still causing emotional distress to these kids just for content. Which is pretty fucked, even if you only do it once! (And many of these parents do it more than once)
-sincerely, someone who was traumatized by being forced to spend hours in a recording booth when they were 7
I could understand giving your kid a wrapped rock if theyāre like a teenager and being like āthatās for eating my last chicken nugget lolā Or some other dumb shit, but a 3 year old?? And for what?? Being a 3 year old?? Or kids in kindergarten??? They donāt know they are being disrespectful or acting in a way they shouldnāt. Thatās why adults have to teach them in a appropriate way.
COVID is slowly becoming a āthird worldā disease. While first world countries are hoarding vaccines, having doses for populations many times their size, third world countries canāt get any because pharma companies want to sell to the first world countries first. Even then, first world countries will receive them first. While rich countries recover from COVID, they will forget about the pandemic while many other countries live the absolute worst moment of the pandemic without being able to vaccinate their population.
Watch also when some first world countries finish vaccinating their populations, they will turn to third world countries and ādonateā or sell surplus vaccines. People in these countries will go āOh how sweet! The government is donating vaccines to the poorer countries <3ā when it was their hoarding that led to many, many third world citizens dying before they could even get vaccinated in the first place.
african and latin american countries are also pushed by pfizer to give up sovereign assets as part of their vaccine agreement
Yo europeans, sign the fucking petition, get the european commission to lift the patents
Everyone deserves protection from COVID-19.
This is not a bullshit useless change dot org petition by the way this is an actual thing with legal consequences. If this petition gets to a million signatures, the european commission HAS to examine it.
They need not only a million signatures but to pass thresholds in at least seven member states - which only Belgium has done so so far. Especially if you have Italian, Irish, or Cypriot citizenship, please sign. Sign it in general, but try to circulate if you can to anyone with those nationalities specifically.
231,195 / 1,000,000 signatures as of 10/28/21
237,730 Ā / Ā 1,000,000Ā signatures as of 11/28/21 and the Signatory Deadline(it has to be signed by this date) is January 8th, 2022.
PLEASE sign, especially if youāre from one of the countries that has not reached itās threshold. (France, Sweden, Greece, Germany, The Netherlands, Austriaā¦basically every country except Italy and Belgium)
Minimum thresholds must be met in at least five more countries in addition to the 1,000,000 signatures requirement.
The countries closest to reaching their minimum threshold are Ireland(89% of required signatures), France(75%), The Netherlands (75%), Spain (69%), and Cyprus (46%). If you or anyone you know have citizenship in these countries, please sign it, encourage them to sign it, and pass it forward.
If the requirements are met, the European Commission will be forced to examine this and take legal action. Real change is a possibility if enough signatures are collected.
Spread this.
A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly
This book is about a 16 year old girl named MalthidaĀ āMattieā Gokey growing up in North Woods in 1906. She loved words, reads the dictionary for fun, and plays a word game with her best friend, Weaver and she makes up her own words as well (as cute as it is, it can be difficult to read). It focuses on her life and her decision of going to college in New York City or staying in North Woods to get married (to someone who she is not sure even loves her and she, him) and take care of her family after he mother dies. The story also happens to involve a murder of a young woman that shapes Mattieās decision.Ā
I went into this book having read a few of Donnellyās books and I quite like her writing style. I think her books are interesting, clever, and well written. However, this one is not her best. It was not what I expected in that I thought the murder would play a bigger role than it actually does.Ā
This book has flashbacks that make it difficult to distinguish between past and present. It also doesn't really have much to do with the murder. The murder of Grace Brown takes place in the hotel that Mattie is working at over the summer and she is given Graceās letters before she is killed and Mattie ends up putting the pieces together to discover who did it. I went into this book wanting more of how the murder shaped her future, because that's what drew me in from the book jacket. Ā
In the end, the ending was satisfying, though getting there was a bit tedious (I think I skimmed the last like 10 pages instead of actually reading them). I would recommend reading this book, but probably get it from the library. 3/10 for me on this one.
Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia
This is a book about depression and anxiety. Iām going to be honest, I picked up this book because I thought is reminded me of Rainbow Rowellās Fangirl. Eliza is a high school senior at a small town school who dreams of getting gout of her small town where the biggest news is who died on Wellhouse turn (super morbid). She escapes into her made of world of monsters because those are sometimes easier to fight.
Monstrous Sea is a webcomic made by Eliza, but the kick is that no one knows it her. For the past three years she has been completely anonymous, until life gets complicated and Monstrous Seaās biggest fanfiction writer, Rainmaker, AKA, Wallace Warland transfers to her school. Love, anxiety, depression, and overcoming it all ensue.
I found this book amusing, intriguing, and I have to say itās refreshing that Eliza was a senior and not a freshman (like I thought at first). Eliza is a girl who is riddled with anxiety, but she doesnāt let that stop her from doing things; she definitely pushed herself and she eventually gets professional help. She also supper irritated most of the time and I got frustrated with her on things, but I think that contributes to the depression (although I donāt think she gets diagnosed).
From the glimpses of Monstrous Sea that we get, it is an interesting coming. The only issue is that there are some parts where it gets difficult to keep up with who the characters are in the comic within the book. I kept wondering āwho is that?ā and āAmity lives with Faren, but is with Dallas?ā or āAre Faren, Amity, and Dallas all together?ā It was kind of confusing and may need a re-read or a slower read. There are also some time errors with the text messages that happen in the book as well that made me pause for a second (but maybe most people wouldnāt notice that).
Overall, this is a book made me appreciate the struggles the characters have and how they got through them. I would definitely recommend this book, but maybe just get it from the library or a used bookstore. Overall I think I would give it a 5/10; I can see myself giving a re-read, but probably not for a while. Ā

this is why its depressing to work in a pharmacy.
I was definitely a profit killer when I worked in a pharmacy (which honestly was my favorite job in the entire world, but it was short-lived and nowadays you canāt work at a pharmacy like that, itās all tied in with corporate retail and no one should ever trust me with a cash register ever). It was not, however, actually a profit killer for the pharmacy, just for the drug companies, so no one cared. These days I do medical billing, which means I actually bill OUT from hospitals so Iām mostly spending my professional time taking money away from insurance companies.Ā
I will now impart all of my profit killing resources onto you, in case you donāt know them. I think most of you know them, now. But just in case you donāt.
THIS IS US-CENTRIC. IāM SORRY.Ā
1. GoodRx - this thing has an app now, so you can look up the best places to get your expensive medicines at the lowest possible prices without insurance on the go, and you no longer have to print coupons because you can just hand over your phone or tablet. Times have changed for the better with GoodRx. Definitely use it before trying to fill your scrip, because it will tell you the best place to go. (You can do that on the website, too.)
2. NeedyMeds - Needymeds is basically the clearinghouse of drug payment assistance. They have their own discount cards, but also connections to many patient assistance programs run by drug companies themselves. They are good assistance programs, too.
3. Ask your county - This is not a link. This is a pro tip. Most county social services will have pharmacy discount programs for people with no and/or shitty pharmaceutical coverage. You can often just find them hanging around at social services offices; you can just pick one up and walk off with it.Ā
4. Ordering online - There are a few safe online pharmacies. I keep a little database in a text file on my computer. Most of them are courtesy of CFS forums, my mother or voidbat, so a lot of that is a hat tip to other people, but if youāre in need of a place to get a drug without a prescription ⦠first Iāll make sure you 100% know what youāre doing for safety reasons and then Iām happy to turn over a link.Ā
5. Healthfinder - A government resource that helps find patient assistance programs in your area. This might also point out the convenient county card thing. RxHope is something a lot of people get pointed to via Healthfinder thatās a good program.
6. Mental Health America - Keeps a list of their best PAPs for psychiatric medications, which can be some of the most expensive and a lot of pharmacy plans donāt cover them at all.Ā
This is so important ppl.
Signal boost the shit out of it!
Booooooooooooooooooost
Good Rx Saved my family a hundred dollars a month while I was getting signed up for CHIP seriously itās a life savor especially for ridiculously expensive drugs like abilify
Useful info, friends! ;)
Since many of our followers are on medications, I feel like this would be an important resource. -Luna
Also! Some drug companies have patient assistance programs where they send you the drug for FREE if you are uninsured, or if your insurance doesnāt cover that drug.
Do a Google search for āpatient assistant programsā + (your med), or search the manufacturers website. Sometimes the info is online; other times you have to call.
Even some of the big name pharma companies have this. Itās certainly not all companies, or all meds, but it is worth a shot.
Before Obamacare, I lost insurance and couldnāt pay for my mood stabilizers (kiiiiinda important to have those when youāre bipolar.) I was on generic Lamictal, but I went to the official Lamictal website, filled out a form with a valid prescription, and they mailed my meds to me every month for free.
If you know anything about bipolar disease, you know that that was a literal life saver. Patient assistance programs ftw!
This is so important given the recent vote to repeal Obamacare. And the cartoon above is so on point Theyāre literally voting to kill people. Literally.
Some of my meds are no longer going to be partially covered by my ridiculously expensive private insurance. I just used the GoodRX website to look it up, and I can either spend $40 at Target to pay for one of them out of pocketāper monthā, or I can get it at Sams Club for $4. No that is not a typo. The drug I need to take every single day to keep my allergies from spiraling out of control (yay auto-immune bullshit) is literally ten times cheaper at Sams Club. Holy shit.
Signal boost for my US buds
no one ever talks about the subgenre of harry potter fanfiction that was greg and angelina johnson having a miserable empty relationship bc sheās only with greg because sheās pining after his dead twin. I assume this is bc so many people got invested in fred and angelina after they went to the yule ball I guess and then jk posted that family tree that confirmed greg and angelina got married. well guys I hate to tell you this but I think she just forgot which twin went to the ball with her
EDIT: it has been brought to my attention I forgot the other weasleyās name was george. I am part of the problem
