Tim Minear really out buddied us. "Eddie jumped off that bridge so Buck wouldn't" is such an insane thing to just say. Obviously, now, looking at Buck's reaction to the jump, Eddie's unapologetic behavior about disregarding the chain of command, sure, Eddie is stopping Buck from doing that. But that is such a WILD way to lay the groundwork on how far Eddie would go for Buck's safety this season. Like, we know. Going up something that was basically a wet lightning without securing a line for himself after being thrown off the truck highlighted that. But like. To frame Eddie's reckless streak as something conscious to keep Buck safe is madness. And then you add Buck thinking Eddie has a death wish when he's just stopping Buck from doing the same?????? Eddie had to deal with Buck being dead. Eddie had to deal with trying to learn how to cope without Buck while in Texas. And his reaction was "no, I'm not doing that again" and he is coming up with crazy plans to get Buck out of a collapsed building, he's jumping off a bridge, he's cocking a gun and using a woman as a human shield. Eddie is making sure he's not going to be forced to live without Buck by any means necessary and that's CRAZY. Like, what do you mean?????????????
