Um, I haven't really interacted in fandom like this since I was like... 12, so HANG IN THER-
I have had a Coltland Gentry story with ALL the fixing stewing for like 2 months. I'm talking Holly and Clair have parts, Sebastian, Jacob, and K, GUS (Gus, Karen, and Margo don't get enough love in my humble opinion) are all there. Under the cut are short summaries about some of the characters leading up to Grace's return. And forwarding that these are half-baked notes already and I have yet to master punctuation.
Basically, it's about Ryland having this nagging feeling in the back of his head that there still is something not clicking in his memories, and Rocky and Adrian (reluctantly) encourage him to think about returning to Earth to figure it out. He does after a few more years on Erid, but well, after getting shot up into space against his will, he's not too excited about any government retrieving/welcoming him home.
Court's post Grey Man and taking care of Clair now as a blue collard worker, and he kicked himself into reuniting with Colt after finding out about Ryland. He couldn't leave his little brother alone, thinking them both dead when he could be there for Colt.
Colt's all but hammering on death's door before Court shows up, Jody and Dan just aren't enough anymore now that he'll never get to apologize to Ryland. And even while Court's there to hold him up, Colt feels a bitter kind of hope that Ry could also come back from the dead.
Uncle Holland has been really enjoying the last few years, Holly's back, him and Jackson... are still partners in solving crime despite age creeping up on them both, and he's definitely handling the deaths of half of his nephews VERY well. Until he hears Colt's alive, and now so is Court, and they both are a six hour drive away in San Fran. He doesn't want to mess up this opportunity again.
Driver/Casey hasn't been near the West Coast in two decades. He's really settled down out in this small, midwest town. No one asks about his background, the people are kind, and nosey, but Casey can deal with nosey. Showing up at his estranged half-brothers' door doesn't even seem to be the strangest thing they've seen.
Lars doesn't know the last time life has ever felt this alive. After marrying Margo, and with a lot of persistence from Karen and Gus, they all live in the main house along with his sweet niece Ellie, they have another brother who slots into their lives perfectly, and he's starting to really think about having a kid of his own! What do you mean family reunion at their house? That wasn't on the schedule.
Holly is a brilliant woman, which she chooses to use by following her father(s) into PI work. She just wishes her story didn't start with meeting a guy who'll leave her high and dry after three sons and years of estrangment with her dad. Still the bravest of them all though, she'll pick herself up, she didn't do all this work for nothing.
Umm, yeah, that's who I have the most on rn, I haven't seen Fall Guy nor Grey Man yet, or well most of the movies the characters I'm using are from, but my friend and I plan of having a Gossling marathon I'll be taking notes at
really weird to see healthcare professionals complaining that patients are becoming “more abusive” as if the healthcare system isn’t becoming more abusive to patients. wonder why someone would call you a ‘fucking jackass’ while they teeter on the edge of bankruptcy after visiting multiple specialists and having you treat them like a drug seeking throwaway human being while charging them thousands of dollars. that’s crazy. not me, I’m a little sweetie but I do completely understand why people start screaming at medical professionals because the whole system is so hopeless and broken. and doctors know it too, they’ll talk about how fucking impossible it is to do their job and then shame patients for not being proactive about their health or becoming frustrated with the way they’re breaking treated or the lack of treatment.

I like to think that it drives Colt a little crazy just how well Jody and Courtland get along. Like, he adores that his brother and wife get along so well of course, but they get along too well. They can have whole conversations without ever saying a word, and Colt swears they have like, telepathy or something. And they’re always scheming something, whether it be a new way to mess with the twins or just getting them to take care of themselves (although that is typically only a problem for Ryland, as Colt takes pretty good care of himself. Ry finds their bond endearing until it’s being used against him, and then he HATES it).
Coltland twins/coltlandgentry time travel, where Grace doesn't remember, but his brother(s) do
but they remember far enough after the launch, that they saw the video logs, and how important Rocky is to Grace
so instead of trying to rescue him from being launched, they're trying to make sure he gets launched (with enough food, and maybe some taumoeba retrieving aids)
They might not have seen Eridani get brighter, so they don't know if Grace made it. But when he launched the beetles with his goodbye message, he fully expected it was a suicide mission — he had enough food to get Rocky and the taumoeba to Erid, but couldn't survive there
Grace is terrified of space, and if they start telling him about rock spider aliens, he'll think they're crazy. So they're scheming how to get him on the ship without the original scientists dying. Also, is there anything that can be done about the rest of his crew, so he doesn't wake up alone?
apparently space food doesn't have viable seeds (I assume so it doesn't start sprouting and spoil?) so getting him long-term food is a hassle
I like the conspiring, and hijinks to sneak things onto the Hail Mary. Kidnapping the scientists so they don't blow up, but will miss the launch.
Colt is impersonating Grace to get access for all this. People think Grace is weird and unpredictable. When he starts talking about weird things the ship needs, they think it's the Water-Based paper all over again — but aren't sure whether to be concerned over his (ir)rationality, or trust him and go with it.
I'm thinking about Rylqnd background for my high school bloodymary...
What if March and Healy [in their 60] adopted Grace, Colt and Courtland after their dad died, and Court was almost arrested
So March is their uncle, but they never met because he used to be a big alcoholic and Mary ( Grace's mom ) was afraid of him near her little kids.
So the Grace-Gentry family never saw Holland March until their father died, and their stepmother blamed on Courtland. Afraid of losing their brother, Colt and Grace call March at least, hoping he can help them with something.
When March receives the call, he packs everything and goes to San Francisco with Healy. In two weeks, they collect evidence that proves that Courtland is innocent and a victim of abuse by his deceased father.
The boys are safe, but with nobody near to be their guardian, they probably will be separated in foster homes, except Courtland, who is 21 and probably will be homeless...
Holland March is 50, and his husband is 63. They raised a lovely girl together, maybe they can try again with 3 boys who have totally different personalities. So they moved to San Francisco in one week, and with Holly's help, opened a filial of the Nice Guys in the city.
So now they are a middle-aged couple with four children, March thinks Healy is gonna have an aneurysm soon.
