i dont know if anyone feels this too but her design is so touhou reminiscent to me
I want to comment on the dynamic between Richeh and Coco because I feel it's a bit underrated, and now that the latest episode is out, I'm thinking about it again.
I think, up to this point, Richeh didn't really know what to think about Coco. She didn't dislike her, but truthfully, I think she may have misunderstood her. Earlier in the manga, Richeh shuts down Coco's insistence that Agott's beautiful spells mean that Agott must have a good personality - Richeh knows all too well that just because you can make an impressive spell, that is hardly a reflection of your character. At best, I think Richeh thought of Coco's attitudes towards magic as naive.
i think people are starting to confuse class analysis with bioessentialism. like... no not all men do this, but Men as a constructed social class do do this. that's still okay to say. that is regular material analysis of the world around us.
yeah so none of these experiences you're describing as "a unique axis of oppression that trans men face" are unique to trans men. trans women experience literally everything you're describing. everything you wrote about trans men being rejected from masculinity & not being treated as "real" men - just replace "women" & "femininity" in all those sentences & you're describing what trans women experience. what you're describing is transphobia, NOT something that trans men uniquely experience. nobody is seriously saying trans men don't experience transphobia & that transphobia isn't a valid form of oppression. they're saying that for transandrophobia to be legitimate as a sociological & structural axis of oppression, there has to be a form of oppression called androphobia or misandry that this transphobia is intersecting with, & there isn't. those cis men (the dominant group) don't hate trans men because they're men - they're not oppressing them for being men. they're not excluding them from manhood for being men. they're doing that because of transphobia. that's how it works. you're doing the exact same thing i'm talking about by saying that it's wrong to say trans men have male privilege - they do have a privilege that trans women don't have, which is the privilege of not being women. YES there's nuance but the baseline you have to understand is that not everything is one to one & it's not fucking personal. these are societal constructs. privilege doesn't care about your nuance. nobody is saying your dumb little life isn't hard. but we can't get anywhere if you obsess over how YOU personally are wronged & refuse to see the big picture from a class standpoint.
There is one very important thing I need people without major dietary restrictions to understand: the distress caused by allergies, celiac disease, and other food restrictions is largely not about the food.
Do I miss some foods I can't eat anymore without getting sick? Sure, but that's not what really bothers me. What bothers me is being excluded from a huge portion of human social life of which food is a crucial component. What bothers me is the stress and social stigma of trying to figure out what I can safely eat. What bothers me is the amount of extra work and cost that is required of me to identify, obtain, and prepare safe foods. What bothers me is people treating my needs like a nuisance, as though I chose to be like this - as though their brief inconvenience to check an ingredients list is unreasonable, when I deal with this every day of my life forever.
I don't miss the food that much. I miss not having to worry about what I eat. I miss freedom. I miss when trying new foods and new restaurants was fun instead of a minefield. I miss not having to plan my entire life around the need for safe foods.
Food is such a basic human need, and a lot of people don't really need to think about it. When your danger foods can be anywhere and everywhere, suddenly your entire life revolves around avoiding them, and it massively sucks. You get used to it and it's not a big deal most of the time, but then you go to a new restaurant, or your office has a potluck, or you've been invited to a party and suddenly it feels just as miserable and exhausting as it ever has.

A Bug Born Entirely of Thread
so many misguided metaphors around violence and desire. if the open maw of a panting beast fills you with the want to be devoured, that does not make you prey. while the rabbit trembles in fear, its deepest desire is to run. evolution demands it. in fact, the desire to be eaten does not make you any small animal at all.
it makes you a fruit.
"it would be so good if it was good" will haunt you but "it's extremely good, except for the one or two parts which are so bad it's genuinely kind of insulting" will straight up drive you insane
one has you making posts like "okay but if the author UNDERSTOOD the POLITICAL IMPLICATIONS of the story they were telling, and leaned into it, it would actually be a really interesting exploration of..."
the other has you pacing your bedroom at one in the morning going "why. why would you ever in a million years do it like that. genuinely what possible thought process was involved. was the writer possessed by a fucking ghost or something."
i would like if something horrible and invasive was happening to him and his boundaries were violated and he was uncomfortable and scared

I actually ADORE the relationship between Qifrey and Tartah because Qifrey always looks like he's barely holding back the urge to sweep Tartah up like he does with the girls and poor Tartah looks like he'd legitimately rather be ANYWHERE else.
Spoilers for manga panels below 👇
Something something Qifrey manages to help Richeh regain her trust in adults but is the catalyst to Tartah losing his trust in adults and witch society.
Something something Qifrey sees himself in Tartah and Tartah only joined the brimhats for Coustas sake and to gain more information. Something something Qifrey and Tartah have really similar goals: they both want the truth. Something something Qifrey and Tartah's desires and thoughts really push them forward as characters. Something something, Qifrey and Tartah, both hurt Coco in the midst of it all. Something something Tartah and Qifrey both have damage to their eyes. Something something Qifrey upholds a friends lie while Tartah upholds the truth.
I do wonder what Tartah will discover when he is with the Brimhats. I believe that the narrative will further intertwine Qifrey and Tartah by having Tartah potentially uncover truths about Qifrey's missing eye and more about the silverwood tree. I wonder if Tartah will become a healingcraft witch and discover a way to aid those like Qifrey and Coustas
Cue this parallel!
