*releases pack of dads into home depot* goâŚâŚbe free
invasive species encroach on lesbian territory
This is a common misconception because theyâre such similar environments, but you should be aware that dads are native to Home Depot, while lesbians are actually native to Loweâs. At this point, however, both dads and lesbians have made themselves at home in both Home Depot and Loweâs to the point that trying to separate them back into their original ranges would probably do more harm than good to the delicate ecosystem of large chain hardware stores.
A properly raised and socialized Dad will be perfectly comfortable cohabiting with Lesbians. Its not really âencroaching on anotherâs territoryâ. You wouldnât say that about foxes in a forest that also homes bobcats, would you? No. Itâs just two different species that have both evolved to live in similar/the same environment. As long as they recognize each other as equals, Dads and Lesbians are more than capable of cohabitation.
Now, if you were to release a pack of Lumberjacks into a Lowes or Home Depot, thatâs where chaos will reign. Being adapted to a far harsher and more demanding environment, the Lumberjacks would simply push Dads and Lesbians both out and also consume far more than a sustainable amount of resources. It would be like releasing bears at a country club.
As a former timber-harvester⌠I feel this is potentially accurate in theory. But highly improbable in actuality.
Lumberjacks, like most megafauna species generally require more space than the average hardware store, even a big box store could provide. The misconception is that Lumberjacks are a social species because of how they often work and live together.
This is a matter of necessity, not preference, and a survival technique for thriving under the LogBoss.
A âpackâ of Lumberjacks, if not under the environmental pressure of a LogBoss will naturally disperse until they each have a wide territory.
Lumberjacks rarely fight for territory.
One on one, a Lumberjack could drive out a Dad or Lesbian, however the latter tend to travel in social packs.
Lumberjacks will passively retreat on the presence of large numbers of people. Kind of like Sasquatch.
Getting a âpackâ of Lumberjacks assembled would be hard enough unless they were forced into a Hardware Store by a LogBoss. In that case, they would already be in a heightened and potentially agitated state far above their natural behavior. This artificial scenario can be likened to a circus animal running amok. If it had been in the wild, the incident would not have occurred.
Free-roaming Lumberjacks are the cryptids of the Hardware ecosystem. They are surprisingly quiet and unobtrusive.
Please stop labeling Lumberjacks as dangerous roving social predators. They are intermediate level omnivores and remarkably peaceful unless threatened.
As a hardware store worker I can say that this is all 100% accurate.
now how in the FUCK am i supposed to leave tumblr when a god tier post like THIS is just is just waiting for me daily?!?!?!
question where does the âart studentâ or âDIYerâ âcrafterâ or âsoap makerâ or âminiaturistâ etc. who has ventured into the store for supplies fall into the ecosystem/what is their impact of said ecosystem?
Most of the above are native to craft and hobby stores (art students, historically, are native to museums, but having been introduced to hobby stores, have found a niche for themselves and thrived), but all can be seen in hardware stores on occasion due to territorial overlap. They are generally low-impact, as they tend to stick to specific small areas and primarily utilize different resources. While a large group of any of them can be disruptive (art students, in particular, are known to travel in packs), in general, they are more likely to have territorial disputes with one another than with the local fauna.Â
A point of clarity -âcrafterâ is a bit misleading; while it conjures a specific image, much like âfishâ or âreptileâ it actually covers a broad array of wildly disparate species, and in general, more descriptive nomenclature is preferred. Fiber artists in particular are a genus to watch out for, particularly in groups. Beware a roving pack of domesticated quilters. They fear nothing, will go anywhere, and due to their social nature, will often seek interaction from other species that thrive best in solitude. They are quite friendly, and will happily adopt members of other species; the concern is that their adoptees do not always wish to be adopted.Â
#in search of taxonomic precision and peaceful coexistence (via welkinalauda)
I do wonder how lesbian/bisexual lumberjack-mimickry fits into this
I can say as a former craft store worker that if you wish to see true fear, look into the eyes of a Dad who must venture into a craft store. Despite the overlap of familiar beings known to him from his native hardware store habitat, Dads are instinctively aware that craft stores are not for them; they contain unfamiliar perils and even the seemingly familiar may have strange variances and unnerving secrets. (âWhy is this airbrush so small? What do you mean nails, why would you⌠WUT!!â)
Only experienced silverbacks or the boldest young Dads dare venture into a craft store for long without his mate or offspring to keep roving Craft Ladies at bay and guide him in this strange ecosystem. If a Dad enters with his mate and is separated from her, he will often scuttle for the seeming familiarity of Woodcrafts, Models, or Paints (the latter not to be confused with Fine Arts, unquestioned territory of art students), but he eyes Scrapbooking and Jewelry with trepidation and will usually venture into those exotic areas only in the company of females of his pack.
Lumberjacks are rarely spotted entering craft stores of their own volition, for while they do not fear it as Dads do, they know it is an environment unsuited for megafauna such as themselves.
Hardware store Lesbians generally adapt more easily to craft stores, although they may enlist another Lesbian of a subspecies more adapted to that environment to guide them until they find their niche. Lesbians have even been known to seek the aid of a Craft Lady, a native fauna that share similarities with Lesbians but are usually smaller and nimbler to suit their chosen habitat. Dads who witness this are often awed by the Lesbiansâ temerity, for although larger, Dads are generally wary of the cunning and dexterous Craft Ladies and may mistake their enthusiastic pack greetings as predatory swarming.
Craft Ladies, secure in their ecological niche, have no fear of interlopers and take the presence of non-native beings in stride, although they may become territorial about scarcer resources.
The only truly invasive species that threaten craft stores are Brides-to-Be, who are mere annoyances individually, but like locusts may descend in hordes and lay waste, leaving swathes of destruction in their wake. Fortunately for the Craft Ladies, Brides-to-Be are seasonal and usually only a threat in the spring and early summer.
It Got Better
Every single addition to the post is just amazing
Okay story time!
So some time last year I got kinda bored so I started watching that netflix series(i forgot its name) that is like queer eye but for surprise weddings for couples that couldn't get married when they planned to etc. And I really liked it, it was cute and the dresses and venues where AMAZING and all
BUT
What really bothered me was
They couldn't find a single couple where the woman would propose! They had two male gay couples, which I really appreciated but maaan I wanted to see one female proposal!
So naturally, I complained to my bf about it.
And what does he say???
"Well I guess we know now who of the two of us is going to propose some day! I'm really looking forward to you doing that!"
And I was like
What. That. No. Wait. Nah. Noo. That's not what I meant. Abort mission.
AND FOR THE WHOLE PAST YEAR, EVERY TIME THE TOPIC MARRIAGE COMES UP HE'LL LOOK AT ME WITH THAT BIG GRIN AND ASK "So, how long do I have to wait till you do it?"
And I have to admit, after getting used to the thought... I started getting really excited about
So anyway, does anyone of you have some suggestions about how to propose?
Take him out somewhere nice, don't propose, then go onto a casual walk in the park and hit him out of nowhere
Nice idea! I will take that into consideration. Though the park would have to be rather empty, even though I'm very sure he'd say "yes" I never was a fan of those public proposals where all the strangers around the couple practically force you to say yes because they expect you to do so

I-I'm sorry but I can't stop thinking about this
My roommate just called from the kitchen to ask what was wrong because I laughed so hard I gave myself a coughing fit.
Oh my god that baby I'm dying
Okay so I live in a shared flat and the bathroom I use is between my room and the room of one of my flat mates, meaning it has two doors so both of us can enter the bathroom from our rooms
This also means that you have to lock both doors when using the bathroom and even more importantly, unlock both doors again when you're done
Well this evening he apparently was in a hurry to leave and forgot to unlock my door, so I was not able to enter the bathroom from my side
Last time this happened, he told me just to unlock it from my side with a coin, as it is one of those locks you can unlock from the outside if you have a coin that is thin enough
To make this clear: I heard him leaving the flat. I saw him driving away on his bike through the window. The door to his room is open so everybody can see, that he is not in there. BUT: the bathroom door on his side was closed and his door has a different lock so you can not see from the outside whether it is locked or not.
And I wanted to use the bathroom to get ready for bed.
Now you could think I'd just either open my door with a coin or go through his room into the bathroom because, you know, it's clear he just forgot to unlock my door.
But you know what I actually did?
I sat in front of my door, for nearly 40 minutes. Waiting for him to unlock it. Because, well, I can't see inside and he could be still in there? After that 40 minutes I got the guts to knock on the door, you know to give the not present person the possibility to announce that the bathroom is occupied. After I didn't get an answer (surprise!) I went to his room, taking a looong look at its emptyness, ready to go in... Just to turn around again because well he could be in there and if he was, it would be sooo weird to try and enter the bathroom from his side even though my side is locked... So I sat down for another 10 minutes. Knocked on the door again. Didn't get any reaction again. Walked to his room again. Stopped right in front of it, already feeling shitty cause I'm about to invade his personal space. Really having to pee by then, I walked inside his room, as quiet as possible, ready to turn around and run into my room if he in fact was still in the bathroom. And then I opened the damn bathroom door because it, of course, WAS EMPTY FOR THE PAST HOUR
Breathing heavily, I then was able to get ready for bed and unlocking my door (and, of course, his too before leaving the bathroom)
Still feeling the adrenalin from that one
the way my jaw dropped at this bit
Toby: So I wrote a bunch of music for the computer to play. Its going to be epic since the computer can handle so many crazy parts. Orcistra: Weâre going to play this. Toby: UmmmâŚ

ÂŤ April 21, 2021 Âť Lab days are my favorite, even when everything seems to go wrong. Tomorrow morning I get to teach my second lesson to my 3rd grade partner classroom, and Iâm excited to see the kids again. Thereâs only 2 more week of class and then finals the week after, and then Iâll be finished with my first year of college!
That PCR protocol sheet couldnât be more true
Remembering my PCR results from yesterday I can only confirm that
when I was in high school my AP english teacher told us we werenât allowed to eat in class so I took that as a personal challenge to see what the most ridiculous thing I could eat in class without getting caught was so I started bringing soup to class and as soon as Iâd crack the lid of my thermos the tiniest bit this football player that sat like 3 rows in front of me would going âI SMELL MEAT SOMEONE HAS SOUPâ and no one ever believed him
The only valid response
My AP English teacher once stopped class for fifteen minutes to hunt a wasp, but if sheâd banned food I would have understood, based on what happened in our class sophomore year.
(#also the football player in my class had a +2 to sleeping in class #so thereâs that #am i truly fishing for someone to ask about the kool aid story #yes probably)
OK, Iâll bite. Please do tell, now Iâm curious.
My sophomore year american lit teacher was two things: new to teaching and bad at thinking things through. We read The Scarlet Letter over the summer, had to turn it in 2 weeks before the semester started, and for some reason known only to herself and possibly god, she decided not only to make our seating assignment by the grade we got on it, but to actually say so to the class.
Naturally, from this moment forth, we hated her. Under this seating assignment, which lasted all year due to block scheduling, I was grouped with the student council secretary, who had never done anything remotely sneaky in her entire life, and the aforementioned football player, who I had known since birth (his) and with whom I had spent most of august having an in-depth discussion of the summer reading (mine) due to disappointments about frankenstein the year before.
At the other end of the classroom was group B-, a pissed off cluster of orchestra students who were about to turn analyzing the american dream into a blood sport and take all of us with them. Weâll get back to them in a moment.
Somewhat importantly, the three of us sat where the teacherâs back was constantly to us. This would have been fine, except for the amount of adolescent resentment simmering in that classroom. Our first semester was short stories, and football season, which lead to Football Player suffering a torn rotator cuff. Somewhat by accident, we discovered that the teacher would not notice him sleeping off his painkillers if Student Council or I pinched his good arm when she finally turned around: Heâd bolt upright and mutter something about it being symbolic of the american dream. Itâs due to this that the class as a whole worked out that if he was still getting an A+ while on lots of codeine, and group B- had not seen significant increases in their grades, that there wasnât any actual grading going on.
When our mid-semester project was announced to be an in-depth analysis of a specific character or theme for The Scarlet Letter, and that extra credit would be given for anyone who brought in an appropriately symbolic food, group B- decided to kill two birds with one stone.
They brought in cookies - snickerdoodles with shiny red sugar sprinkles - and explained how they were symbolic of something to do with Dimmesdale⌠then waited until we bit into them.
The sugar sprinkles were salt, dyed red with food coloring. The symbolism was about deception. They got extra credit, we yelled at them, the cookies were thrown out.
Enter the end of semester project, which was on the Great Gatsby, except people did an in depth creative analysis of a chapter, and my group got the one where Gatsbyâs body is discovered, took one look at each other, and decided to go all out.
We met at Student Council Secretaryâs house with half a plan, and spent a Saturday afternoon going bananas. We had a game board where each group would play a trivia game about the chapter using a car symbolic of the character they were playing as (several vintage hot wheels were donated to the cause: Football and I had very angry younger brothers, later.) We had an expressionist/Dadaist/give the football player scissors poster depicting the scene of Gatsbyâs death, complete with âmoney growing on treesâ because it was faster to chop up rectangles of green construction paper in the paper cutter than to put extra work into it. We had everything⌠except an appropriately symbolic food.
âWe should make them toast to the american dream and the trivia game winner at the end,â said Student Council. âWith red koolaid,â said Football, who in addition to having slept through the first half of the semester has an unfortunate sense of humor, âTo symbolize the charactersâ gullibility as well as Gatsbyâs blood.â
Iâm not going to take credit or blame for what happened next, except to say that when youâve known someone since birth, then been separated for the length of middle school due to districting, and then spent the last year and change rediscovering that youâre both fairly bright teenage idiots with no faith in authority while simultaneously making the worst puking noises you can manage when people mistakenly assume youâre dating, you fuel each otherâs bad ideas until they become a california wildfire.
Student Council is relatively blameless, and in fact, tried to talk us out of it.
We waited. We presented. We played a trivia game and waxed rhapsodic about impressionism and did a lot of bullshitting about symbolism, and we passed out a stack of red solo cups half full of red koolaid, which NO ONE was to drink until the toast. Who won the race for the american dream? Doesnât matter.Â
âA Toast!â declared Football, âTo Achieving the American Dream!â and everyone drank but us.
There was an immediate storm of spitting and yelling from the class, who had drank the kool-aid responsibly, only to discover that it had been made with many, many cups of salt instead of sugar. Group B the second (formerly group B-) was particularly loud, but not louder than our teacher, who had drank her koolaid like a shot, and was gagging enthusiastically into the classroom trashcan. Student Council was ready to die of embarassment, but Football was nothing but thorough when he decided to piss people off.
âAnd that kool aid is symbolic of Jay Gatsbyâs blood!â he shouted, as the bell rang and I shoved him out the door before the second hour honors american english class could commit a homicide.
Rebageled for April Foolâs, despite it being a revenge story and not a prank. Do not try this at home. School. Homeschool. ⌠anywhere
Best prank/revenge story ever
Reasons why Millennials prefer e-mail to phone in a work environment:
1) We donât want to talk to you.
2) We donât want to pause our music to talk to you.
3) We donât even talk to each other on the phone â why would we want to talk to you?
But the biggest reason is A TRAIL. If I e-mail you back, you can see what was said in the future. You canât tell me I forgot to tell you something because itâs right there. You canât tell me I ânever reached outâ because we can both SEE it. I donât have to trust your recollection.
And, in a group inbox, you can see who has been responded to. I got forwarded a voicemail from my supervisor (through e-mail! imagine that!) asking me to call some lady back for clarification. So I did, against my will of courseâŚand she said somebody had called her yesterday.
Who? When? What did yâall talk about? Is follow-up necessary?
Phone calls back and forth only work in a workflow where the standard procedure is to *log* phone calls in a shared system with a brief summary of what was discussed. Otherwise, yâall need to let us e-mail. Itâs not just about a generation gap. Itâs also about efficiency.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk. Any feedback can be proffered via e-mail.
EDIT
Also: letâs keep it real â we multi-task better than you do. If Iâm on the phone with you, Iâm FORCED to do that ONE thing and put whatever you want above all the other things I couldâve been doing. If you e-mail me, I can research what you want (while doing other things), find the solution (while doing other things), and offer it to you in a nice concise package (while doing other things) without sitting on the phone with you in awkward silence looking for the answer to whatever you think is urgent. (Itâs not urgent. Youâre not dying. I know itâs not urgent.)
OP is being kind in saying âi donât have to trust your recollection.â people straight up lie, especially customers.
Yes!! I hate it when I have to call sb. And if it's just for making a doctors appointment. If I can do it per mail it's sooo much less stressfull, I can just look the mail up as soon as I get insecure about when exactly I have to be there
"ok" : I understand what you have said
"ok cool" : this meets my expectations
"yeah ok" : this is weird but I accept it
"ok yeah" : I hadn't thought of it that way but you're right
"ok so" : I am about to tell you something dramatic
"oh ok " : I am crestfallen but trying to act cool about it
"ok no" : I must stop you before you keep spewing these lies
"ok what" : that didn't make any sense but it was kinda funny
"ok." : it's time to get serious
"ok..." : if you have a point you better get to it fast
"...ok" : I'm about done with your shit
"ok!" : I am pleased with what we have just agreed upon
"ok?" : I don't get why you're making a big deal out of this
"ok...?" : I want you to get to the point fast, but I think it's going to be interesting or dramatic when you do
"...ok!" : I think we've covered everything we need to discuss
"...ok?" : I don't know what you want from me but I'm willing to find out
"...ok." : that was difficult but now it's over
"wow ok" : I can't believe you just said that, but I'm withholding my reaction until later
"ok wow" : I did not expect to be impressed, but I am
"fuck ok" : This is a problem but I'm not going to freak out
"ok fuck" : This is a problem and I am going to freak out
"damn ok" : I didn't realize this was that important to you but now I get it so you can stop emphasizing the point
"ok, ok" : I already understand what you're saying, you don't need to keep clarifying or repeating yourself
"k" : you have been blocked
Ok, wow I didn't expect it to be that complex but it is
Meet the Sea Slugs That Chop Off Their Heads and Grow New Bodies
Their severed heads get around just fine until they regenerate perfectly functioning, parasite-free new bodies, scientists say.
A few years ago, Sayaka Mitoh, a Ph.D. candidate at Nara Womenâs University in Japan, was perusing her labâs vast collection of sea slugs when she stumbled upon a gruesome sight. One of the labâs captive-raised sea slugs, an Elysia marginata, had somehow been decapitated.
When Ms. Mitoh peered into its tank to get a better look, she noticed something even more shocking: The severed head of the creature was moving around the tank, munching algae as if there was nothing unusual about being a bodiless slug.
Ms. Mitoh also saw signs that the sea slugâs wound was self-inflicted: It was as if the sea slug had dissolved the tissue around its neck and ripped its own head off. Self-amputation, known as autotomy, isnât uncommon in the animal kingdom. Having the ability to jettison a body part, such as a tail, helps many animals avoid predation. However, no animal had ever been observed ditching its entire bodyâŚ

I been thinking about this video all day
Was kinda shocked the first time but now I can't stop laughing :D
Whatâs encrypting your internet surfing? An algorithm created by a supercomputer? Well, if the site youâre visiting is encrypted by the cyber security firm Cloudflare, your activity may be protected by a wall of lava lamps.
Cloudflare covers websites for Uber, OKCupid, & FitBit, for instance. The wall of lamps in the San Francisco headquarters generates a random code. Over 100 lamps, in a variety of colors, and their patterns deter hackers from accessing data. Â
As the lava lamps bubble and swirl, a video camera on the ceiling monitors their unpredictable changes and connects the footage to a computer, which converts the randomness into a virtually unhackable code.
Codes created by machines have relatively predictable patterns, so itâs possible for hackers to guess their algorithms, posing a security risk. Lava lamps, add to the equation the sheer randomness of the physical world, making it nearly impossible for hackers to break through.
You might think that this would be kept secret, but itâs not. Simply go in and ask to see the lava lamp display. By allowing people to affect the video footage, human movement, static, and changes in lighting from the windows work together to make the random code even harder to predict.
So, by standing in front of the display, you add an additional variable to the code, making it even harder to hack. Isnât that interesting?Â

What the fuck.
Oh, this
I like this
If you wrote this into your fictional story, itâd be called too fake.
Now I want my own lava lamp wall
Not for encrypting anything, just because LAVA LAMPS
