Ken’s getting an Honorary Diploma from Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe College on Saturday May 21st during their 2022 Commencement. His dad shared the bio he wrote for the ceremony for Ken and asked that I share it on here: “Boozhoo. What can I say about Kenny Andrews Jr? But that he loved his drawings and loved going to get an education. I would go to his parent teacher’s conference and before they would say anything they would say let me show you his desk and point there it is. The desk would be sitting there overflowing with many drawings. And his drawings would be of the red heart in the middle always. I never knew why he made them that way or asked my son why it had the red heart in the middle. He did a lot of drawing’s for Miskwaabikaang (Red Cliff). He proudly made the Clinic’s Symbol for the clinic. He also did a lot of drawings for different colleges, also a lot of people are walking around with his drawings as tattoos. I got the chance to go on many trips and field trips out west to Washington down to California across Nevada up to Yellowstone Cody Wyoming and then back home all on him and as he worked with a directive housing when he went to college from Fond du Lac that was awesome. We also got to go to Bear Butte passing on by to go home. That is where I put his mom’s ashes on Bear Butte. Boy there was a lot of spirits felt on that mountain. This was the best time with my boy. Enough of my rambling on. When my boy went to Lco College it was a good moment for him. He was a great mentor for people. He helped people when needed when he went to Lco. At that time their campus was down at a church in Bayfield. He loved going. My boy loved helping anyone who needed a helping hand Because that’s who he was. Kenny also loved his twin girl’s Kendra & Diedra Andrews. The day they were born he fell in love with them. They were his life. Kenny always wanted to go back to pursue and finish up his degree at LCO Community College but never got that chance to. With this I would like to say a HUGE Chi-Miigwech to Lco Community College & Staff and all who were involved with this on getting him his Honorary Diploma. Also another Chi-Miigwech to Christie Branagan for getting this started without her this would not even thought of. Thank you All so much. From the Andrews Family it is greatly appreciated. Kenneth Jr will be greatly missed his passionate love for school and his drawings will certainly live on in our hearts…….” Miigwech
