Daphné met Hayden for the first time in 2000 in Los Angeles for the screen test auditioning for Episode II. A few weeks later it was announced on the offical Star Wars website by George Lucas that Christensen and Perrin were casted as Jedi Padawans, Anakin Skywalker and Daaliyah Monkaxte, continuing their love story while protecting Padmé Amidala (Natalie Portman.)

In 2005, during the filming of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. It was rumored for the two co-stars to be in a relationship from behind the scenes footage of their chemistry and fans noticed the undeniable admiration Perrin would talk about Christensen in interviews and vice versa yet nothing was ever confirmed due to both of their values of keeping relationships, families and personal life private.

In 2007, Daphné was spotted at the premiere of Awake staring Hayden Christensen and Jessica Alba in support of her two friends and former costars. The two were seen sharing a kiss after the event, then later confirmed their relationship in further interviews.
