Contemporary Archaeology VI explores spaces reclaimed by ecology and community. Built upon industrial form, it reflects on the experience of a trans girl looking for expression, belonging, and safety. It will exhibit in October 2026 in the Castaways Sculpture Awards in Rockingham.
Contemporary Archaeology I Sky Edwards 2024 Recycled materials and acrylic paint.
Contemporary Archaeology I explores industrial form; layers of use-disuse, damage-repair; inhabited, utilitarian, essential, abject spaces. It arose from Sky’s miniature work and photography. It exhibited in the Compact exhibition (Vic Park, 2024) and was Highly Commended in the Castaways Sculpture Awards (City of Rockingham, 2024).

There's a bunch of adhd advice out there that's like "people with adhd tend to work better under deadlines due to the anxiety so here are ways to artificially induce a stress response in order to get you to get work done" and it's like well what if I don't want to be stressed out all the time in order to function
this gold shouldn't stay in the comments
On the one hand yes, I used to confuse the fight or flight response with the concept of 'working hard'. This ended poorly.
On the other, Deadline Good? Brain need deadline to understand what time is. If no deadlines the ahead time is very big until heat death of universe. Deadline good for dodge existential dread.
Off the coast of Australia Macroctopus caught the shark, wrapped all its tentacles around it and soon released it. Most likely, he scraped all the parasites off her.
The octopus
this is how sharks stay smooth
Bro the cuttlefish and everything else checkin it ou
the best part is the rapidly growing crowd of onlooker fish and squids hoping that this event will end in a festive shower of delicious shark guts (it did not. woe to the peanut gallery)
love when a mother asks if they have ever done anything to hurt you. ma'am, you will literally never be ready to have this conversation
what therapy do you think we can afford. what truths do you think you can survive
everyone clearly has a super normal relationship with their mother
Going to the library tomorrow to find out if I'm allowed to print hypothetical boobs for the GG copybook I wanna do
Libraries don't fuck around when it comes to copyright law

I knew english didn't really have an equivalent for "bon appétit", like every other language that I know some of, but I just discovered that they don't have a "bon voyage" either, they just borrow the french one directly. And this is not a french vs english thing either. Swedish, that is a germanic language quite distantly related to english and has no relation to french, still has standardised expressions for both, as does finnish which as fuck-all to do with any of the aforementioned.
Every language that I can claim to even roughly understand has some way of expressing "I hope you enjoy your meal" and "I hope you have a good journey" and english is just like "idk idc eat shit and die."
i can't speak for any english expression for "enjoy your meal," though i'm sure there is one, somewhere, however, english does have an expression for "have a good journey:"
"farewell."
it comes from the old english verb faran, meaning "to go on a long journey" (technically it refers to like. journeying somewhere, but it's implied to be a long one which is what separates it from gan, which means "to go" or "to walk") as was typical of the medieval period, going on a long journey typically involved a measure of uncertainty regarding one's safety, so the expression is literally "fare well," as in, "be well on your journey."
over time the semantics within the language shifted enough to where "farewell" is now more synonymous with the japanese "sayonara" (there's a level of finality involved that's otherwise lacking if you just say "bye") but the fact remains that, technically, this is how you say, "have a good journey" in english. (better yet, this is how you say, "have a safe journey" in english.)
I get where you're coming from and you're not wrong, but I'm stuck imagining how hilariously terrifying it would be if on a plane at the end of the safety announcement, the english version just finished it with "farewell :)" as the plane takes off.
according to the most current research, "termination" was a ritual of public humiliation performed against a designated caste of biological females in the early 21st century. it's unclear what exactly the ritual consisted of, but in some instances it could be performed with the same woman as frequently as six times in a 36 hours period. occasionally, large groups of these females—or "trannies" as they were sometimes called, a title of unclear etymology—would be "terminated" or "termed" in large groups, either simultaneously or sequentially. while no physical records of such events exist, there is sufficient attestation in the written corpus to demonstrate the frequency of the ritual. research continues as to the purpose of "termination," but as is often the case among primitive societies our hypothesis is that it was undertaken to establish or reinforce group cohesion among those performing the termination.
no i don't think i need tags for this one tumblr
