Apparently someone got their car stuck on the light rail tracks at Mt. Baker. For those unfamiliar this is 35 feet up in the air
First test flight of a flying car by Mazda partially a success
I feel like the Arizona Utah license plate should take some place in our analysis of whatever in the goddam fuck we’re looking at here
seeing 1500 comments on the insta post announcing Britta Curl to Detroit and it's so much "oh I guess I won't be going to games" "oh I guess I'm cancelling my season ticket deposit" oh okay and then donating that money to a nonprofit/mutual aid fund that supports trans people, right? and advocating for the league to create a gender inclusion policy, right?
the way pwhl fans have made Britta Curl the scapegoat for the league will never not piss me off, not because I agree with her beliefs, but because by scapegoating one player and directing all your attention to loudly hating her you don't actually do anything real.
Also, aside from the fact that Britta Curl is not the only player with her beliefs in the league, I actually don't think yelling at the league to fire her is productive! I actually don't think a business should be allowed to discriminate against employees based on their political beliefs! I think that's a dangerous precedent to set, personally!
Like you don't have to spend your money in support of a franchise with players who are loud about politics you don't agree with. But saying they don't deserve to pay their bills and feed themselves is not exactly the most progressive take either.
I am once again coming #onhere to remind people that if you don't love trans people more than you hate transphobes your outrage is performative at best and I'm tired of seeing it constantly in pwhl fan spaces
Adding some tags that I think are important, from @midwesticebird @minahxrker @monopeptide and @sadpearonmars :
I just want to also add a masterlist of resources for things you, pwhl blogger, can concretely do to combat transphobia in the PWHL!
Firstly, use this template/guide to email the league and the pwhpa to demand they develop, release, and implement the gender inclusion policy they still owe us.
Additionally, if you have the financial means, pledge to donate in Curl's name. I personally did $5 per point and $1 per PIM this past season, but you can choose whatever donation makes sense for you! Also, here are some places you can donate that advocate for LGBTQ people in hockey/detroit/both:
You Can Play
The Ruth Ellis Center (see @whitecherrylavender's reblog for more details)
The Detroit Chapter of Stonewall Sports (see @royaletigertowelpapertowelpp's reblog for more)
From u/pythagoreanpentagram on reddit: Stand With Trans and Transgender Michigan
You can also follow along with a Detroit fan-led effort to fundraise for trans nonprofits at puckcurl.com
If anyone else has suggestions for things PWHL fans can do, please comemnt/reblog with them and I'll add to this!
Also, since it's the closet to me, CPH has pride merch now. Be gay and support a league committed to the idea that hockey is for everyone.
Half of PWHL Twitter seems to believe Knight only "got away with" forcing a trade because she gets special privileges or whatever, so a short list of athletes that said "trade me or I quit":
Dick Allen, Atlanta Braves, 1974 (retired to avoid reporting, ended up having his rights flipped to Philly)
Kenny Anderson, Toronto Raptors, 1998 (didn't want to play in Canada, got flipped to Boston the next week)
Jimmy Butler, Miami Heat, 2025 (got himself suspended and ultimately traded to Golden State)
Donn Clendenon, Houston Astros, 1968 (retired to avoid playing for a racist manager, re-signed with the Expos later)
J.D. Drew, Philadelphia Phillies, 1997 (played indy ball for a year, re-entered the draft, was taken by the Cardinals)
Curt Flood, St. Louis Cardinals, 1969 (went to the Supreme Court, he retired while waiting for the case to resolve)
Cutter Gauthier, Philadelphia Flyers, 2024 (traded to the Ducks for Jamie Drysdale)
James Harden, like every two years when he gets bored, he always ends up getting moved
Hideki Irabu, San Diego Padres, 1997 (refused to leave Japan until he was traded to the Yankees)
Andrei Kirilenko, Philadelphia 76ers, 2015 (refused to report, went back to Russia, who can blame him?)
Rostislav Klesla, Buffalo Sabres, 2014 (went back to Czechia rather than play in Buffalo)
Eric Lindros, Quebec Nordiques, 1991 (told Quebec he wouldn't play for them, got drafted anyway, forced his way to Philly)
Haason Reddick, New York Jets, 2024 (refused to report for six months until he got a better contract)
Ben Simmons, Philadelphia 76ers, 2021 (sat out half the season before he was traded to the Nets)
Egor Zamula, Pittsburgh Penguins, 2025 (straight up refused to report, got his contract voided, signed with CBJ)
Are you telling me that Hilary Knight has less pull than Haason Reddick? Than Cutter Gauthier? Than fucking EGOR ZAMULA??

obviously losing players sucks but tbh the thing I'm finding the most frustrating about this expansion draft is. how do I put this. founding PWHL teams got two full seasons to settle in before expansion. Torrent got on the ice together for the first time in November 2025, had the Olympics borrow many of our key players and send several of them back injured so they couldn't play the rest of the season, and now has to contend with a league expansion twice the size of the previous one that is taking more from Torrent than almost any other team (not to mention the questionable EFO stuff with Knight) while we don't even have a head coach. like yes, we were last in the league this season, and some of the reasons for that were internal, but we're also not being given the same chance to work through our growing pains that every other team except Vancouver got to have (and Vancouver so far has been insulated from the expansion draft, so Torrent is on uneven footing with them, too).
some pwhl fans are able to hold light and love in their hearts for many teams and players. me? im casting generational curses. we are not the same
Hilary Knight is heading to the PWHL’s expansion team in Detroit as part of a sign-and-trade deal involving one of women hockey’s most recog

every time I think about Dilbert I think about this comic and how the question being asked is Not Stupid and its answer is genuinely interesting and arguably very important information anyone using a computer should know

I'm so glad that that truncated fucking ran-into-a-wall-at-speed tadpole-ass looking squirrel only lives in high altitude forests in Borneo bc this means I am extremely unlikely to encounter one in my day to day life. thank god
Hello.
DID YOU MAKE THIS BLOG SIMPLY TO TORMENT ME
I can go upside down.
WHERE IS THE REST OF YOU
Studies show that engaging in ritualized behavior significantly improves outcomes on measures of grief and feelings of control, even when the person participating in the ritual has little or no belief in the ritual’s power. Just a reminder for no one in particular.
Research has revealed that, while rituals are universal across human cultures, the content and actions of those rituals vary widely even when they have the same intended purpose. This suggests that it is not the actions that matter, but that you are taking any action at all and naming it ritual. It can be an elaborate ritual with dozens of moving parts and participants, or it can be as simple as lighting a candle alone with the intent to remember someone.
The healing is in the doing.
