sideblog !! for soft stuff

visions were uncommon for fourteen year old fae, especially one so powerful. it felt as if the force itself was screaming at them to fix this, to save them, to do something. they stumbled, disoriented as the future flickered painfully across their mind.

fear welled up inside them, growing bolder until it reached a fever of full-blown panic. their blue eyes unseeing, their chest heaving for oxygen. 

and then:

“breathe, padawan.”

this particular voice cut through the vision as sharp as a knife, and yet was gentle and soothing to their shaken mind. comforting, familiar, like it was meant to be there. without thinking, fae clung to the sudden presence within the turbulence of their mind. fighting for their every breath, each inhalation burned like a lightsaber trapped between their ribs (it would be years before they realized that sensation in itself was premonition). 

their surroundings slowly returned to them as the vision faded. for a long moment they were left stunned; silent and tremoring, tears pooled within their eyes. eventually, they stood, a certain numbness filling their chest where panic had resided just minutes prior.

it was then that a realization crept into their mind. slow and hazy at first before nearly slapping them right across the face. they recognized that voice.

master qui-gon jinn. obi-wan’s master. their best -- only -- friend’s master.

emotions flooded them in an instant. they didn’t know whether they were going to cry or laugh or throw up. it was as if in that moment they knew exactly what that vision meant. for them. for everyone. and force above, they loathed it.

a worried nudge against their mind brought fae back to the moment. in their post-vision near-hysteria, their mental shielding had slipped. they could feel the gentle concern curling around the bond between them and master plo.

“i’m okay. i’m okay,” came fae’s weak assurance. “i- i mean, i’m not hurt.”

another nudge against their mind, firmer, but not unkind. still caring. a simple push to speak truthfully, fully.

after a moment they finally confessed. “i had a vision.”

first, a tender wave of comfort -- affection -- care came over them like the warmth of a hug. then, came the sound of his voice.
