not to get Into It but it seems like some people on this website conceptualize anorexia as the "so fatphobic you're willing to kill yourself over it" disorder and i feel that's a reductive viewpoint
#not saying it can never be related to fatphobia or that people with restrictive eating disorders never perpetuate it#but in many cases the causes lie elsewhere. trans people who are trying to reduce their secondary sex characteristics.#people who were sexually assaulted and are trying to make themselves undesirable.#people who were starved as children and are trying to regain control of that trauma.#people who were made to feel that they are a financial burden for eating.#people who are using it as an avenue for self harm#et cetera#obviously it's still not a healthy or productive coping mechanism. but it isn't one that solely stems from disgust towards fat people.#and i know there's still assholes on edtwt posting pictures of fat people to gawk at and that behavior should be criticized.#but i don't think the people who are starving themselves. sometimes to death. are the primary beneficiaries of a fatphobic society.#that said i think some people are less fighting for body acceptance and more looking for acceptable targets#and lashing out at people with restrictive eds feels like punching up#anyway reblogs are off for this one because this is the piss on the poor website#eating disorder tw ///#child abuse mention ///#self harm mention ///#sexual assault mention //
